Orange recharge light on Lite not turning off?

The last two times my girlfriend (actually, fianc[SIZE=-1]é[/SIZE]e, ack!) has attempted to recharge her Lite, the orange light never goes off. It seems to actually recharge ok. Anyone else ever encounter this?

The point is it doesn't. It used to, and now it stays on. It should go off after no more than 3-4 hours (tops), and we left it recharging all night (i.e. over 8 hours).
