Order your component cables now
Kaplan hasn't mentioned anything about Zelda being available at launch has she? I swear, if she "confirms" that then we're all screwed.
Perrin Kaplan could confirm that the sky is blue and I would still go outside to double check.

QFT. :D
Perrin Kaplan could confirm that the sky is blue and I would still go outside to double check.
Seriously, I'm not generally one to complain about someone's mistakes, but is she consciously lying or just speaking about things which she has no information concerning? Either way, she needs to stop. Yesterday.

I'm kind of amazed she still works for Nintendo after all the crap she's caused lately.
Wait, so are the Component Cables being delayed B&M, Online, over Phone, everything? Delayed?
In a sense, yes. They're delayed directly from Nintendo because the fuckers thought nobody would want them...and everyone did. Thus, we have to wait while they get their shit together and make more. They're delayed to retailers because Perrin Kaplan is the antichrist.
Wait, so are the Component Cables being delayed B&M, Online, over Phone, everything? Delayed?
It seems that way. From what we're hearing most B&M and online retailers won't have Nintendo's component cables in until early-mid December. As it stands right now, about the only way to get them by launch is to order them directly through Nintendo and even that is proving to be far more difficult than it should be.

Heh, they know people want them, but I'd be surprised if even a quarter of the install base of the Wii buys component cables (if/once they have that many). They didn't intend to make them available to the public online yet, hence they're now unavailable. That said, those who buy at launch would probably be the most likely to want the component cables, so their timing is definitely not great.

I say the next person that sends NoA a petition about Earthbound or whatever has to include a rider asking for the resignation of Kaplan.
MOTHER fuck ER!!! Backordered... This is extremely frustrating.
-G
Did yours just get backordered or was it backordered earlier?
I know some people have hit the backorder wall, but beyond that, has anyone's order gone further than "preparing order" yet?
Not yet and it probably won't change until tonight when/if they are shipped!

Fingers crossed for all of us, then!

I think I need to just leave Nintendo.com alone, log off of CAG for a while, go to class this evening, and come home and hope for the best. I keep checking my status expecting the worst, that does no good at all.

So is "preparing order" a pretty good sign so far? Has anyone's order gone from "preparing order" to "backordered"?

No kidding. Jesus. I should've left for class 15 minutes ago. I think I'd better leave my laptop home.

Mine was at "Preparing Order" since I ordered this morning and I just got my tracking info. So, if you're still in 'preparing' you might have gotten one.

Mine shipped! I ordered online this morning at 9:58 EST. It should be here by Friday since I ordered 2 day shipping. Woo Hoo!!!

There is hope, folks. I ordered by phone around 11:45 am (EST) and was listed as "backordered" until sometime in the last hour, when it switched to "preparing order."

Keep hoping:
According to people over on IGN who have recently talked to the customer service reps, Nintendo is allocating more of their stock to online orders to handle the "increased demand."

Maybe there's hope for the rest of us?
Two threads are confusing.

Nice... Mine shipped too. For what it's worth, I ordered online at about 9:55 am EST after trying for about 30 minutes on the phone last night and this morning.

edit: I should also comment that just because I am happy that I am receiving the cables, I am very unhappy with the way this situation has been managed by Nintendo. Actually, this season's console launches have been managed very poorly in general, but this was a particularly significant faux pas in my book. What kind of wise guy plans out a "secret" launch of component video cables--something that should be widely available either in the box or alongside it at stores. That said, I still can't wait for the Wii. ;)

did people who got shipping notification order the expedited delivery? I'm wondering if they're handling the orders of the faster shipment methods first and then getting around to the silly $5 ones like mine ;)

finally got my tracking #, she said they'll ship today. Shouldnt take long since they ship out from seattle and i'm in Cali.

I got next-day at 9:53 EST and I'm still at "preparing order."

I think that is a reasonable assumption.

I paid $13 for UPS Red. They damn well better hop to.

Awesome, it's no longer "backordered" on mine, it says "preparing order" but also lists a tracking number!
I think that is a reasonable assumption.

Agreed. I paid at 9:25AM EST a full 30m to 1h before some people on here who already got tracking #s. I have yet to get a tracking # and I paid for UPS RED (next day).

WTF?!?!

No clue, but I don't have a store.nintendo.com account and when I try to check my order status using my order number and zip code I get a 404. Argh.
If I can't buy these in a store on Sunday I'm going to be extremely pissed off.
You can't. Won't be available to retailers until (~about) mid December.

I guess they're shipping these at random, but they'll all probably be handled today as long as they got in before that cutoff.

Doing it in random is pretty wrong as well. Should be done on a first come, first serve basis. Guess I will wait it out a bit longer!

Is there any chance we might get a little more insight as to the status of our respective orders by calling Nintendo and checking with a CSR?

I doubt if they'll have any more information about my order than I can already see from my myninteno page, but if by any chance they can confirm to me that my cables are going to ship then I can stop sitting here and refreshing my browser every minute.

I remember like two hours ago, I said I should hop off of Nintendo.com, step away from CAG, and go to class this evening and just forget about this whole thing 'til late tonight.

Well, I've still periodically refreshed my Nintendo page.

I'm still sitting here at CAG, obviously.

I'm skipping class (not just for this, mind you - but more because I'm a lazy bastard).

I'm a slave to Nintendo, what can I say.
So, is it too late to order from the nintendo store linlk?
No, it is not too late, unless of course you want your cables at launch.

The 2nd batch (backordered) will ship Nov 28th. Still better than waiting until Mid-Dec.

To answer my own question: I called Nintendo a little while ago to check on my order with them. The rep told me that my order is ready to ship and I'll have a UPS tracking number for it once it actually does ship.

I guess that's not really anything I didn't already know or couldn't have figured out, but I do feel a bit better knowing that I should be getting one of the first shipment. That having been said, I'm probably still going to be up 'til some godless hour checking my order's status.

I called and they said the same thing. That it was ready to go and would ship tonight and that I should see a tracking # on the My Nintendo site tonight or tomorrow morning.

ah, good deal. I'll be patient then. Are these maybe being handled on a zipcode order? It seems like many of the folks I've seen had theirs shipped are on the west coast.
