I've taken the FAQ from the other thread & pretty much just pasted it here without any changes made to it. You can find this FAQ at the bottom of this thread past the game list. The first list is the current game list. The second list is the original clearance list.

Consider yourself lucky if you find any titles from the second list, also most everything on the second list should be a big YMMV as most of those titles are now out of the system &/or have been pretty much bought up by everyone by now.

Alrighty then, here is the new and improved Kmart Clearance list. All titles are in alphabetical order according to their platform. The listings will be as follows: UPC - Game Title - Price.

Any game title that I've put in BOLD is missing the full 12 digit UPC & is represented with zeros. Any missing info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the prices will be listed according to info I get from inventories. However, if 3 people can confirm the same price on a certain game, then I'll change the listed price to reflect it. I'll try my best to keep this updated as much as possible.

All updates on pricing will be done as I find them and/or posts from you guys/gals. I just updated some prices for select games that I found recently. Any price that I just changed has a v next to the price. There may still be a few prices out of whack, but for the most part they're current.

Remember if you have a UPC that we need please PM me so I may update the zeroed UPC's. Thank you to everyone contributing info in this thread!

Below you will find another game list. This is the original clearance list that should mostly be YMMV by now. All prices below are the last known prices reported, but many are out of the system and will now depend on the employee you get, the tag on the game and your own negotiating skills.
I've not included UPC's, but I do have most of them & can add them later if there is enough demand for them. Good luck finding anything on this list!;)

Ok so here are the more recent .01 games from the above list. Transferred below 12/17/06

FAQ

Q: Why was this thread created?
A: Because there are multiple threads floating around, and its useful to consolidate. THis one will have the OP constantly updates so you don't have to go digging.

Q: Are these prices YMMV?
A: No, they shouldn't be. I currently have 10 K-Marts in my shopping radius, and they've all been consistent. At one time it was thought that they were YMMV, but I'm pretty sure it was instead employee incompetence at keeping prices updated.

EDIT: Some people are reporting prices that are YMMV, but I am hesitant to mark the deal as such. If you get a different price, it seems to be the exception to the rule, not a true YMMV where it is hit or miss. I'd say these prices are 90% accurate.

Q: An employee said the price was higher than what's on the list.
A: Get the game scanned at the register.

Q: The employee got that price gun and said it was higher than what's on the list.
A: GET THE GAME SCANNED AT THE REGISTER. The gun is incorrect sometimes.

Q: Can I use the price checker thingies?
A: YES! Brilliant idea! They will give you an accurate price. Also, if you have the problem of useless employees not opening the cases for you, you can print off the UPC codes and check them at the price checker.

Q: How can I help?
A: Multiple ways:
- Get a job at K-Mart so we have an inside man
- Post the prices of the games you get
- Write down the prices of games you do not get, then post those too

Q: When are items marked down?
A: Once a month, near the middle of the month.

Q: Does this have anything to do with the weekend 50% off sales K-Mart usually runs?
A: No. While some of these games used to be on the list, this is completely seperate. None of these games are on the 50% list anymore and will not be reduced during these sales.

Q: What if I bought a game at a higher price and it gets reduced? Can I get a price adjustment or a return/rebuy?
A: Chances are VERY SLIM. K-Mart does not do price adjustments on clearance items. A return/rebuy might be possible, but most Kmarts do not employee people with the mental capacity to fully understand this concept.

Q:Can I price check the games without getting into the cases?
A: Yes, thanks to this UPC document from TimTucker. You can scan these at self scanners located in most K-Marts, but note that sometimes prices may not be accurate
Old Link: http://www.timtucker.com/games/kmart_upcs.doc
New Current Link http://www.timtucker.com/games/kmart_upcs_2.doc

Q: What if the price is higher than what's on the list?
A: Then your store has not done markdowns left. Ask them if they have any pending PCLs and perhaps they can do it for you, or just wait it out. Also, you could try a return/rebuy if you have another local store that did the drops. Use the UPC sheet to check this

Q: What if a price doesn't come up? It says "Check shelf tag for pricing".
A: This means that the game was at 90% off, and for some reason it was scheduled to be marked down further. If you have a cool employee, you can get games for cheap. If you have a game with outdated tags, you could be in for a hassle. This is similiar when Target marks things down for salvage.

Q: Are these markdowns YMMV?
A: NO. These are universal nationwide prices. If you arent getting them, its your stores problem and doesnt indicate a larger problem as a whole.

Q: How are things marked down?
A: AFAIK, it can be done manually via gun, or it can be done en masse at the register. If you want further details, we are currently looking for a CAG to take one for the team and get a job at K-Mart to infiltrate and learn their secret methods.

Q: What games will drop further?
A: As a GENERAL RULE, games at 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00 are at 90% off AND WILL NOT DROP FURTHER. Games ending in .99 will drop 2 bucks at a time in random intervals.

Q: What do I do with all these games?
A: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...ad.php?t=95481

So I take it that even though the stickers say 30 dollars for Advanced Wars DS, et al it will ring up at the price on the list?
So I take it that even though the stickers say 30 dollars for Advanced Wars DS, et al it will ring up at the price on the list?
Not at ALL stores, but at many it will. I know of a store near me that has 2 copies sitting there - they ring up at $34.99. The best thing is to take Slash's UPC sheet with you and scan them using the floor scanners. Apparently not all Kmarts have them but all the ones around me do. They are very handy and save you a TON of time. What I do is do a quick scan on my way in just to see if this particular Kmart has the new lower prices active at all. Say, scan something like Metroid Prime Pinball, which has pretty universally dropped to $3.50.

If that is good, make a swing by the Electronics section and see what you can find through the glass. If you find anything, go back out and find a scanner and check it (using your printed sheet of course). Then you will know if it is worth tracking down the employee to open the case. Of course, you might find more behind the others once the case is open. But if a majority of things are ringing up cheap, chances are anything else from the list will too.

Alright... Here's my update for today. Hit the South Bay area of LA.

From yesterday's store inventory:

Kmart Cudahy
3x Batallion Wars $10

Kmart Bellflower

I did see 1 DK Jungle Beat there, maybe 2 more Feel the Magic.

Today's search:

Kmart Long Beach (Bellflower Blvd)

Very nice and clean layed out store which you can see the game titles.

http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/9199/kmatlongbeachgamesnc7.jpg

I bought 1 DS Advanced Wars $9

Saw:
6x Feel the Magic (didn't check price, but assume it would be $3, since Advanced Wars rang up right)
007: Everything Or Nothing Xbox ($14.99 :( Looks like it go re-SKUed up)
Conker: Live ($19.99 looks like only clearance at Sears)

http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/9895/kmatlongbeachdsbr6.jpg

Think you can see the 6 Feel the Magic on the bottom row of DS games.

Kmart Harbor City

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow $17
Polarium $15
Eyetoy Play 2 $20

These were all checked at the register :(
Guess I'm keeping the Polarium I got at Sears for $3.96.

Kmart Carson Super Center (24hr)

This place was a mess, but it had a huge selection of games.
http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/6087/kmartcarsongames1fv4.jpg
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/8209/kmartcarsongames2sy3.jpg

Saw

2x We Love Katamari
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/8820/kmartcarsonkatamarini0.jpg

2x Ninja Gaiden Black (rang up $14.99 I think)

Checked

Metroid Prime 2 $19.99
Musashi Samurai Legend $24

Found one game I really wanted.

Ys Ark Of Napishtim $10 (Yeah RPG! Happiest get of the night)
http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/4003/kmartcarsonysxv5.jpg

Kmart Torrance

Another messy place with stuff behind, stuff.

http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/9572/kmarttorrancegamessr3.jpg

Checked these games:

Ape Escape 3 $20
Super Monkey Ball Double Pack $19.99

Didn't get to search the DS section. Closing time and they all wanted to go home. Saw at least Monkey Ball 2 packs. I think the max I would pay for Monkey Ball is $10, so that's why I didn't get it earlier.

Think that about wraps up my Kmart search. Thanks for the informative posts people.

That's awesome - none of the 20 K-Marts in my area are remotely organized like that. Definitely makes it easier to find stuff. But part of the CAG fun is searching through their messy cases. When they're all displayed like that non-CAGs can get the cheap games too :)

You know I've come across many older clearance games that have been marked back up to regular price. I think once they clearance out of the system, some stores don't know what to do with them so when they discover that they don't scan, or come up as check shelf label, they just re-mark them back up to an original price. They'll probably end up going through the whole clearance schedule yet again sometime! lol

I got some more today.

Odama 12
2x Nightmare XMAS Xbox 3
Indigo Prophecy 4

When I trade some of these games in to GC, should I unwrap them or won't it matter?

Picked up two Donkey Konga 2's WITH Bongos for $5 each today, just like Konga 1 is. They made great Christmas gifts.

I don't trade many games in & have never traded games into Game Crazy but will they take more than one copy of each game or shold that be done in different visits?
thanks

Yea another valid question I forgot to ask.

Not sure about game crazy but i know gamestop and eb games do not take sealed merch. but whats it matter? they only give you used game value for it anyway. headed there today, will try to see if i can submit more then 1 copy at a time. it all depends on whose helping you.

I had a couple more games scanned today and I don't think these have been mentioned recently:

Hello Kitty: Roller Rescue (GC) - $15
Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes (XB) - $15
Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers (XB) - $14

Nothing great, but some people may be interested.

The GCs near me have only been accepting 2 per game per day. And an interesting note is that the trade-in value of those games at that specific store dropped like 50% a day later.

ok I went to two Kmarts today... with the less but turned out not successful.

Polarium 3.00

The rest like
711719749523 Eye Toy Play 2 w/Camera $12 = 49.99$ :(
008888162193 Asphalt Urban $2 ($14.99 w/generic sku) $2.00 =29.99 :(

I asked the guy to price scan at the registar and even run it through like a normal transaction. Polarium was tagged 21.99 and employee almost forced price changed it up to 21.99 instead of 3.00 even though it was stickered.

I saw a DK Bongo pack and WAS about to buy it but stop idiot opened it and it looked like it was missing stuff so I left it.

Too bad I couldn't get the Eye Toy Play 2 pack :(

oh well.

GC trade-in prices (at that particular store only) will drop if they get too many of a certain game. I wouldn't bring more than 1 copy in at a time. Just spread it out or bring them to a different store.

My problem is that I have a 20% bonus trade-in coupon and I want to use it at the main store where all my credit is (plus it is the closest). Thing is, I already traded a Drill Dozer, Ape Escape 3, and True Swing Golf there. I hope when I bring in those same 3 + a few more that I can get the same values as before + 20%. But I'll need to be careful and if one is much lower I need to remember to exclude it and take it to another store. Or maybe I should take the whole lot to another store... Decisions, decisions...

Oh, and as usual with these things, OPEN the games first - don't trade them in sealed. With these Kmart games it is a very small risk (as they were cheap to begin with). I mean, sure, you could no longer return them to Kmart, but that's no big deal (unlike, say if you bought a few $10 games to trade in).

OPEN THE GAMES FIRST?!?!?!?! Are you nuts? Sure, it's only $2-3 in most cases, but if no one has a good trade value on them, I can still return em to Kmart within 90 days(they started giving this great return period a while ago).

That gives me plenty of time, should I want to retry the values at GS/FYE a couple more times to see if they jumped back up.

I STILL miss Tradestop.com, which was Gamestop's trade value site on the web. THAT site saved me alot of aggravation over the lowball offers they give people for their games in times past. It is sorely missed.

However, I've found a new way to determine what value you could get for your games. Wherehouse.com, which is another corporate name under FYE, has a trade value finder. Albeit, the trade values are supposed to only be for those stores, but I found when trading in copies of Geist or Powerdrome Racing for PS2 to FYE, that the values were pretty close.

Either way, telling people to 'open their games ahead of time' is ridiculous, if they get a good GS clerk they can check trade values without having to have the physical games there.

If they tell you otherwise, they're fulla crap and just trying to boost their own trade in numbers by being total jerkwads.

He meant open them before you trade them in once you're absolutely sure of their value. Not open them as soon as you get them.

If you trade in sealed games to a store you're immediately flagged as a thief.

It's very easy now to get trade-in values over the phone regardless of the company.

Picked up True Swing Golf DS $3.50 and Spiderman 2 DS $2.00 yesterday.

Still looking for Advance Wars and Animal Crossing...

hahahaha lol. that guy freaked. who opens them right away? i wait till im in the car and about to trade them... anyway here is a price list of my trade-ins at GC tonight.

Ds - Feel the Magic - 5.00
Gba - Marble Madness / Klax - 5.75
Ps2 - Ape Escape 3 - 15.00
Ps2 - Ape Escape 3 - 15.00
Ps2 - Musashi Samurai Legends - 6.00
Xbox - Unreal Championship 2 (Landri Conflict) - 2.00
Xbox - Spiderman 2 - 3.00

= 51.75 on gift card. please keep in mind these prices are without MVP, the guy working there said i would have gotten 10 more dollars if i had MVP. why pay 20 to get 10? hehehe.. so i left it.. Some trade prices i asked about but did not trade -

DS - Metroid Pinball - 3.00
DS - The Urbz - 5.00
Ps2 - Kinetic w/o cam - 7.00
Ps2 - Groove w/ cam - 2.25
Xbox - Golden eye Rouge Agent - 5.50

once again these trade in values are non-mvp..

Cheers!!!

Exactly - or at the very least it flags you as a flipper, which, while many employees don't care one way or another, can be a negative thing. People got banned frrom trading at GR because of multiples (even spread out over time). So because of that, I've always been in the habit of opening them first. In fact, I'll often switch old cases out for the new ones. I got a stack of game cases my GR was going to throw away. I swap the new cases for the old and now I have about 50 or so new game cases that I use when I buy used games (or just to 'refresh' game cases in my own collection).

The way it is now, since I'm always trading in new games in mint condition (but they look used because they are unsealed and possibly have old cases) I always get compliments on the condition of my games. So instead of being the "potential thief" or "flipper", I'm the guy who brings in high-quality scratch-free games ;). It got to the point where at a couple of EB stores during their last trade promo that they looked forward to what I was going to bring in (I tried to keep the multiples to a bare minimum at those places).

I did say it was no big deal that the games were only $3 or so because of the off-chance that the trade-in price drops from the last time you asked or someone on CAG posted about it (ans thus the trade-in is worthless). I mean, you can't be 100% sure of a trade-in value until you actually trade the game in. But, yes, in general, I don't open them until I'm on my way into the store.

The best situation is something like Ape Escape 3 where I want a copy for myself but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. So I can open one of those without any worries - if the trade value drops, that just becomes my copy. Several of the games from Kmart are like this.

it also depends on how cool you are with the people at that certain location. the gamecrazy by my place has kids no older then 18 working there. but the gamestop has people in their late 30's... so its tough at times when i goto GS to trade. but no problems at GC.

I know what he MEANT Roufuss, I'm just saying though that MANY times the idiots at my local Gamestop brand stores ask me to bring in the games prior to getting a trade value check. Now, am I supposed to open them just for these shmucks to check a trade value? That's the part that's ridiculous.

On the other hand, the one EB by me has great clerks working who let me take all the pennied guides I find AND give out trade values without 'requiring' the games be scanned to do it.

Of course, I abused the hell out of the multiple copies thing when I kept finding the Clancy Trilogy for $4 at Kmart. I must've traded 3-4 copies of it at ONE GS store alone during their trade 3, get $10. Now that they're back to their original craptacular trade values on games(even Halo 2 gets shit from them now), I keep all my games for playing ONLY.

I have no Gamecrazy stores within 10 miles of me, so I'm stuck for places OTHER than FYE/GS, unless you count the 2 pawn shops in my area or the one small indy shop about 20 miles away from me. And, compared with them, GS gives phenomenal trade values.

With all the cheap games I've bought from Kmart and elsewhere in the last year or so, I have such a backlog that I doubt I'll be ready for a 360/PS3 or Wii for years.

As far as game stores go though, I have found that FYE gives WAY better than GS. But, on the negative side of things, they keep their prices on games higher than most places for longer.

Anyway, that's my two cents on the whole game trading thing and WHY I have such a kinipshit when the morons at GS can't give me trade values without actually SEEING my games(and thus causing me to be labeled a 'thief' or 'flipper' since they ask me to bring them in and I bring em in sealed before I even think of trading them).
Can you bring in the reciept and get the difference after a drop that has happened within 90 days?
I don't think you can do it for clearence stuff.
Can you bring in the reciept and get the difference after a drop that has happened within 90 days?
They will only price adjust within a first few days or a week at most (at my local store). Anything beyond that will require you to return it, and go in to purchase another one if you like. If it's out of stock, you're SOL.

In short, you will have to return it, and repurchase it as soon as they put them back on the shelf (before other people beat you to it).

Updated the CAGwiki trade-in prices for Gamecrazy (kind of wierd that we are all going there of all places - I have only every traded a handful of games there in the past). I might go tomorrow and use that 20% bonus trade-in credit coupon I got recently. It will be very nice if I can trade in 6 or 7 of these Kmart games, get the 10% MVP boost and another 20% boost from the coupon.

i wish i had that 20% coupon you have.. :( i usually goto gamestop, but i have realized that gamestop is only good when the 3 for 10 deal stackable with get more card, otherwise there is no reason to trade anything there. And if its ontheir site under trade in value, it must mean another place is paying more for that game. just a few things i have noticed. whatever gets me to my Wii, im happy!!!

Ah, but see , if you buy a Wii at Gamecrazy, you will get the 20% trade-in bonus coupon. So it is kind of a chicken and egg thing ;).

Looking at my stack right now, it looks like I have about 16 games to trade in to Gamecrazy to make full use of that coupon. A few of those I have no idea about the trade-in value, though, and I don't want to open a couple of those (like Harry Potter Azkaban for Xbox, as I don't even have an Xbox ;)).

In case anyone is in GC any time soon, here's the games (all from Kmart) that I want to get values on:

GC SRS
XBox Harry Potter Azkaban
PSP Exit (this was $5 from Best Buy actually)
PSP MediEvil Resurrection
PS2 Dragon Ball Z Sagas

Actually, that's it for the ones I'd rather not open if they are worthless for trade-in. A couple of others I will open anyway
because I'll keep them - like NFS:MW for GC and Polarium.

I have a feeling, though, that Azkaban, Exit, and MediEvil Resurrection are not worth trading in. But I thought that would be the case
for True Swing Golf and Drill Dozer as well, and those 2 surprised me. On the flip side, the very low trade value for Metroid
Prime Pinball surprised me too. You just never can tell.

---------------------------------------------
EDIT - OK, I just called Gamecrazy. I wanted to go in there today and just deal with the trades, but they weren't sure if the coupon was active today (it says 12/25 is the start date, but whatever) plus they weren't sure if the 20% would stack with the MVP. The manager will be there tomorrow so I'll just wait.

Anyway, here's the prices for the games above:

GC SRS - $6
Xbox Prisoner of Azkaban - $3
PSP Exit - $3
PSP MediEvil - $5
PS2 DBZ Sagas - $6

So, I'll take in SRS for sure. I'm definitely NOT taking in Exit, Azkaban, or MediEvil Resurrection. DBZ Sagas will be $4->$6.60 normally, so maybe worth bringing. With the extra 20% though (depending on how they do that, I'm going to assume only off the base value but they said it is done manually so it could be all over the place like the Eb/GS preorder bonuses were ;)) it will be close to $8 - might as well.

that HDTV would be nice if anyone has info.

My local Kmart was giving out $5 off $35 purchase as I was walking out. So I might go back to see if I can do something w/ my purchase later. Can anyone else comfirm this for other areas? Or does everyone know about this already?!!!

- Rainbow Six Lockdown 00888851205 - $2.00
- Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban 01463314781 - $2.00
- Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban 01463314782 - $3.00
- World Championship Poker 65000849912 - $1.00
- Kinetic w/ camera 71171974972 - $5.00 :bouncy:
- Rogue Ops 74164800810 - $5.99
- Spinx 75291946035 - $2.99

Looking for Animal Crossing, Advance Wars, and Castlevania for DS, can pay using paypal. Live in South Carolina, don't mind slow shipping if it's less expensive. Will add a tip for your troubles if you find any of these games at clearance prices.

I saw a few of those titles at my local K-mart, but was too scared to pull the trigger since they were all marked MSRP and Im new to this clearence thing.

I had a great Kmart haul over Christmas at the Kmart in my girlfriend's little town in Illinois. Picked up 12 games and there were boatloads more that didnt ring up right for some reason. Oh well, I won't worry about it. I'm sure they will still be there next year.;)
I saw a few of those titles at my local K-mart, but was too scared to pull the trigger since they were all marked MSRP and Im new to this clearence thing.
I don't really pay attention to the reduced price stickers anymore. The kinetics that I picked up had a sticker for $25 on it. I only pay attention to whether there is one of those new stickers over the SKU on the box though. Now that really affects the prices. :whistle2:# If you saw A LOT of titles from the list, make sure they don't have the new price stickers over the original sku on the box.

Today I found a nightmare before x-mas w/o those stickers on it, but it was damaged. So I asked the cashier if he'd give me one of the other ones(w/ the new sticker on it) for the same price. He did it! He was sooooooooo nice and patient too while opening the cases for me and checking prices. It was unbelievable!
The thing is its in an "urban" area so they have that stuff locked in the glass.
Well, they are kind of all like that, aren't they?

Anyway, I turned 13 Kmart games into $127 in GC credit today... Details later...

Damn, I found a drunk K-Mart employee today... some kid asked for a game and the guy was like "NINTENDOZZZZ NINTENDOZZZ I DONT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THEM" and he looked really.... frazzled I guess is the word. His hair was a mess.

I think he was hitting the bottle since he kept going into the stock room when no one was around.

If I worked at Kmart I'd probably be drinking too.

lol, you sure it wasn't a Sony Fanboy?
If I worked at Kmart I'd probably be drinking too.
I damn sure know I did, every night after work.

No, he wasn't a Sony fanboy, he looked to be about 60 and really went off on how he missed the Nintendo... the kid asked for some racing game and the guy was like "PIMP MY RIDE 2!?! PIMP MY RIDDEEEEEE? MAYBE ITS IN THE BACK WITH THE RIDES"

When he left, the kid was like "Mom, what's wrong with him?" and the Mom was just like "I don't see it in the case, let's leave before he comes back".

LOL........ That's just too weird. Well at least your kmart electronics guy doesn't take 20 minutes to ring up 3 items and says "SHIT" on every other key he presses.

fuck dude it was the weirdest K-Mart I've ever been in... it was my first time going in. The games case was in the middle aisle of electronics instead of being against a far wall... it was a really odd set up.

The guy just looked insane, like a mad professor type look.

At my old K-mart they didnt have them behind the glass, granted they closed that one down a few years ago.

the electronics section here the other day was left wide opened.. I guess because the day before xmas they didn't want to keep on opening the cases with all the customers............. what customers? since when do you see kmart packed?

Hah! Bizarre.

When did this clearance start? I went in today and they had NOTHING worth buying... and it's not as though many people even SHOP there. Strange.

Went to another KMart while home for a bit in Denver. They had a lot of stuff there and the guy pretty much just opened all the cases and let me go at it.

Stuff That Rang Up Full Price:
Advance Wars DS (x3)
Psychonauts Xbox
Asphalt Urban 2

Stuff That Rang Up Above Clearance:
Half Life 2 (had been re-UPCed)
Battalion Wars
Fire Emblem

Stuff I Actually Got:
Star Wars KOTOR $2
Metroid Pinball $3.50
True Swing Golf $3.50
Nightmare Before Xmas Xbox $3
Indigo Prophecy $4

There was an Advent Rising, another Metroid Pinball, a few Polariums and god knows what else behind the first row of games. I dug, but I didn't dig to the back.

One funny note. There was a Super Monkey Ball (original, not 2) in the case. I had the guy ring it up just to check and it was out of the system naturally. I didn't really want it so I didn't pursue it further.

All of that stuff is up for trade and I might check the prices at the Game Crazy here on all that stuff. If anyone is interested in any of that stuff, especially for a Psychonauts or Half Life 2.

There were also some e-Reader card packs in there that I didn't pursue. All in all, an interesting trip. Very nice guy though. Probably the nicest KMart employee I've met thus far. I'm hitting up another local one tomorrow so hopefully I'll score another decent haul.

Edit: There was also an Eye Play 2 w/camera there if anyone is interested.
