OTT 586: The Legend Continues

Holy high school scantron flashbacks Batman. That looks like more work than I'd be willing to do. And I'd probably fake some of the stuff just so shows I like that I might not always watch get better grades.
I'm half-assing it but I think I'm just going to stop. Not worth the effort. Besides I don't even watch much TV anyways other than watching NFL football, Regular Show, and The Walking Dead.

Damn.  My PS3 died.  It died earlier this week and I fixed it using a blow dryer, but it only lasted a few hours.

When mine died nothing brought it back to life. I would have given anything just for a few more hours to back up my data, but alas, I was not blessed. If that worked though, I know of people using the hair dryer trick more than once, or you could probably get a professional reflow.

I went to a goodwill addiction and this dude got a ps3 for $81. I almost bid out of principle.
Were they able to confirm what condition it was in? I'm always afraid that it'll crap out on me a couple days later if it would even start up.

Jesus fuck, now my desktop won't display video (via HDMI) at all.  But the audio still works, I can hear the Windows log in screen sound.  Don't even know what to do, this thing is less than a year old, the fuck.

Someone posted this oldie but goodie today.  Felt like sharing:

I've never seen that one, that was great.

I don't play many console games at all any more, but lately I've been playing Remember Me on PS3, never heard of it before honestly but it was on my system, I guess it was a PS+ download at some point, and I'm really enjoying it.  Not the best but it's rather engaging for free.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that Pro Evo Soccer 2014 is this month's PS+ PS3 game, I haven't  played one of those since Winning Eleven 7 on PS2 and I played the shit out of that, it's neat to see a distinct change in gameplay after avoiding a sports franchise for so many years.

Has anyone played AC: Liberation since it has been able to play on PS3/XBOX?  I just recently found out they moved it from Vita to be playable on XBOX/PS3.

Remember Me is a fun, easy game. Would have been cool to have some more remix events though.

Great timing for PES to come out with the world cup almost here. The only soccer game I played was World Cup 98 for the N64 and I was thinking of buying it again but then PES came out and that's good enough. There are some files you can download to get all the correct team names and players. I don't follow soccer but it's still better than having generic teams.

I have too many shows I try to watch regularly.  Anyone watch any of the Amazon Prime Pilot episodes they put up a few weeks ago?  Anything good?

People are psycho.  Hmmm, should I leave the room and calm down?  Naw, I'll just shoot my wife.  The least he could have done is shot himself afterwards.  I guess calling the cops and confessing is a start.  Although, he'll probably plead, "not guilty," and drag this through the court system for a million years.

No, what he needed to do was shoot himself first. And then if he was still angry look to other solutions.

Well, yeah, that goes without saying. Then we'd be bombarded with stories about how good of a person he was, such a family man, hard worker, etc.

You really do!  Netflix instant!  I'm the worst at getting around to watching things, and I'm actually watching the full run a second time over.  Although. maybe that's why I'm bad at getting around to watching things...

Yeah, no Netflix here.  Maybe Amazon Prime will pick it up, that way I'll only have to complain that I don't have the time to watch it.

Was able to catch up the first three seasons of Game of Thrones when HBO had their free weekend a couple months ago.  It was really hard to watch all three seasons, and now I'll be without a full season for a while.  I started the books a couple weeks ago.  The show does a really good job (so far) of following the books.  There are a few things that you didn't realize you missed when you read the books.  Only got through a few chapters and haven't been able to pick it back up unfortunately.

I saw the new deep blue Mazda6 on the road today, god damn that's a nice color in person.  Almost makes me wish I had waited.

I lurk, but always felt I never had much to say or it was already said.

That being said, enjoying Watch Dogs. Don't normally buy day one but had some credit laying around.

How similar in gameplay is it to GTA? Looks like an interesting concept for a game.

Do they still sell new gamecube controllers? Might have to pick up a few with the wii u adapter coming out. The ones we have are pretty beat up.

Morning, OTT.

I love the fact that @middleearthgame is sending out Tweets to taunt the game reviewers who got to spend some time on Shadows of Mordor and died to some of the Orcs in game.  It's really clever marketing and I am completely facinated by the Nemesis system.  If it works as advertised, it could be a game changer.

I'd say it's more of an Assassin's Creed in a GTA setting. Might seem like a strange comparison, but the hacking introduces a stealth element. While running and gunning is an option, you can also stay in cover, hack an explosion near an enemy, or even hack their grenades (which sometimes they'll try to throw it away from themselves). Not to mention the Ctos towers which act as AC's viewpoints.

Also, I'd say trying to play a more gunning style is a little more difficult as opposed to GTA, but that could be because I don't have much in the way of weaponry just yet being near the beginning. Running from cops is a bit harder in this game as well. GTA was too easy with their little vision cones, but the scope for WD cops is a bit ridiculous and without a good car you could struggle a bit trying to make your escape. That said, before the cops come, you do have a sizeable warning to get out of the area before they show up so it is easier at the same time.

Can't comment on the story much since even though I've played for probably six hours at this point, only did maybe five missions. Between the digital mini games (Spider Tank, Coin Rush, Etc.), random side missions such as fixer contracts, or even just walking around profiling everyone you meet (which is strangely addicting), there's a good bit to do. Also the online element is a lot of fun, trying to hack into other people's games and not being noticed. Which goes wrong for me more times than not.

Nothing too exciting here.  We found a buyer/investor for the house and the closing was last Friday. We are renting from him until we find a new place in Palm Beach County. Unfortunately, the prices for someplace good that is zoned for agriculture (We have chickens as pets and the city says we can't have them anymore - even though they sell them at a store up the street) is almost twice the price of what we sold the house for.      Nevertheless, the search continues.

Looking for a new job is annoying when you're bombarded with offers to sell insurance and work for solicitors. So I decided to hire a resume writer and a LinkedIn writer for the same cost as a PS4. Both profiles looked better than what I had before so I'm optimistic.

I also sold my car which drained me nearly $500 a month on repairs and used the money to pay for those rewrites and a new hybrid bicycle I bought from Sears . It needs a tuneup for the gears and brakes but otherwise I'm very happy with it.

Riding it along with working on backlogs (Gamewise: Toy Soldiers   DVD-wise: Beck Mongolian Chop Squad are almost finished) are keeping me busy in-between all the real life drama.

That's cool. That actually makes me want to check it out a little more. All the trailers make it look like GTA just with different ways to get away. I prefer the stealthy route.

I'd make my kids do it, only I'm worried that they might break the mower...Kids ruin everything!
I'd be afraid the kids would destroy the house if I left them unattended inside while I went out to mow for a half hour.

Deciding which one to take out with me turns the whole thing into the fox and the goose logic problem.

Unless I'm missing it, Amazon Prize doesn't have a recommendation engine nearly as robust/good as Netflix's, right? I'm sure there's plenty of good stuff, but having to go through arbitrary categories instead of what Netflix offers even though Amazon has a pretty good recommendation system for all of the regular stuff you can order.

Shopkick. Anyone have good or bad experiences to share. The reviews on Google play store are pretty bad. Lots of problems with freezing phone or not working. Considering downloading it but not if it's going to cause problems or not be worth it. School me on the benefits and how to get the most out of it.
