i'm not completely agreeing with TMK but it *is* very difficult to get a job right now in some parts of the country, and it's actually *easier* if you have less education. When i was laid off from the department of health, I applied to every job I could find, including fast food, Old Navy, Home Depot and the gym. I got called back by exactly zero. the places that I went in to talk face-to-face asked me why, with a MS in Healthcare, I wanted a job working X (fill in retail/fast food/etc). A lot of places told me that they couldn't afford to pay me what I was worth and that they didn't even look at my resume past my education because I was over-qualified for any position they had. To pay my bills, I applied with a temp agency and explained that I'd take anything I could get so that my car wasn't getting repo'd and my house wasn't getting foreclosed on. I ended up working manual labor at a factory for 6 months before I had another person call me back for an interview. And I applied all over the country, not just this area.
True, i don't think TMK will have the problem with being overqualified though, not to much so anyway.

An office temp job, data entry, anything, just find something.

my mother and grandmother got me a kitchen aid mixer and food processor/blender for christmukkawanza this year. tried out the mixer earlier in the week and made chocolate chippers and home made "oreos" and today i tried out the food processor and made potato latkes with fried eggs, sour cream and apple sauce.

I wish I lived in a bigger town. I would love to work at a place like AE. The one place I would actually like to work at (Hastings) doesn't hire till you're 17.

We have one dude that owns most of the restaraunts in town. He like owns the town, and a lot of people think he is the reason the town sucks.
Like 40 minutes away.

I'd assume after the missed delivery I couldn't go pick it up at like 5 or 6 PM because it'll still be on the truck, right?

If they'll leave it on my doorstep Tuesday with a signature on the slip they leave, I'll probably do that. If it won't be Wednesday or Thursday I'll probably go pick it up Tuesday.
Well, as long as you can sign the slip, i'd think they'd reload it on the truck and try again the next day.

Budge I couldn't score a 2nd Red Alert 3 for $9.99...discount was only taken off one even though coupon says limit 3, but I was getting static due to the fact that the coupon says off regular price....anyhow all said and done I was only able to get one for me.
Genji's more like Onimusha from what I've heard and seen. Wasn't interested in the game after playing it either.
I liked Genji a lot on PS2 actually (yeah, it is more Onimusha). The PS3 I didn't like all that much (I didn't think it was as bad as some said, but really needed more time in development and some changes were stupid (such as having to walk to every place instead of using the world map, removing the old experience system, and the camera was terrible). I was actually really excited about the game despite the jokes it got, but wasn't too into it when I played it.

Like I still remember seeing a several positions open at one place that needed people with some skills I have, but the degree requirements were low (Associates or H.S. diploma) and the pay was quite low ($22k a year). Now if the job was in my hometown, I'd probably push for it harder because I could just live at home, gain experience, and not have to worry about paying all the bills. But since I'd have to relocate, supporting myself with that would be difficult, so I'm still looking.

I will flat out admit that I have YET to apply to a job on the West Coast or East Coast. All of mine have been in the Midwest and South (South like in FL, TX, etc.).
fuck that...

If you know you're applying for a job you're overqualified for, you just put HS education on the app.

I've done this for manual labor jobs before.
when applying for jobs as store managers or shift supervisors, having a degree in administration and showing experience having supervised people before *should* be an asset. for the manual labor jobs i didn't put my full education on the applications. those jobs obviously didn't require a resume.

a BS degree is overqualified for a lot of positions.

Maybe in some areas, most job listings i've looked at in my area actually list a bachelors as a requirement. Granted, these are professional jobs, not manual labor or something.

Could you do simple IT support TMK?
So do I. All this forum posting (along with getting swarmed by IM messages) and other stuff has been stressing me out lately. I'm thinking about taking a few days off playing games alone and doing other things.

It's because of all the thread managing I have to do, blog writing, and just people love to pick on TMK also. With the responsibilities I have, at this rate I'll never get a job (but I'm still trying).

And now I'm busy doing some investigation because again, after I cleared out open spaces on my PSN buddy list again, it fills up right away. What does almost everyone want to be my friend when I specifically say on CAG PSN gaming don't add me? Not everyone who adds me comes from CAG, many have come from various countries around the world along with various forums (I've probably had 300 friend requests sent to me total). That stresses me out a bit having to deal with it.

I make cut back on posting (we'll see, I rarely do it) to work on my backlog of video games. I did it a few times last year and it worked.

I think you need to look up the word responsibility in the dictionary.

I use to just remove those I didn't see online for a bit. Now that no longer works (people are signed on enough), so I have to look into other factors. But it's not just friends, I get stressed because I have game nights 6 days a week now, and every single one of them, I end up having to be the one hosting. I end up doing most all coordinating since I learned most people don't do it right, or barely care about putting the time into it.

But oh well, I just need to find something else to do. Now I kind of regret telling a friend of mine I wouldn't go paintballing with him a few years ago (all because I never tried it). There's no denying I can be a little reluctant to try new activities (waiting for an OTT member to say it's all because of one disease).

EDIT: I'm a tad bummed because one girl who I basically helped out with all her homework (she didn't exactly have too high of a GPA), she freaking got a job before me. :whistle2:( However, where she got in an area I don't think I'd go (It was in Colorado Springs).

You'd be surprised actually, a few times I skipped out on running a game night (due to certain reasons) or even times I didn't log onto AIM for a while (due to wanting to get things done), some have gotten pissed or even sad (I'm not joking).

I was thinking that would be a good job for me. I'd also be very quick to delete blog posts or whatever if they bash the company. ;) :p

I was thinking that would be a good job for me, or being one of those PlayStation promotion people. One of those people who travels to various events in the PlayStation truck, trying to show off PlayStation games and so on. Or even, they at times hire someone to showcase SingStar at particular retailers. That would be a perfect job for me (going to retailers all over the U.S. showing off SingStar games). I'd make sure to do "Toxic" and "Get the Party Started". ;)

I wonder what other jobs would suit me well also. I know I honestly don't seem like some sort of Engineer or Tech guy.

Down the road I'll get to it. I gotta sort through what I have right now (a mess) first. That's what I pretty much told everyone else.

If you got homework to do, I'd be delighted to do it. I love doing homework assignments (I'm seriously not joking about that part). :D
This is the worst case of Assburger's known to man.

You should be studied and probed.

The guy who writes the paper on you will most certainly win the Nobel Peace Prize (if he doesn't blow his own brains out before then).

Linkin merged some guy's topic about Call of Duty World at War being on clearance at Target into the Target clearance thread. That's fine, but he put a picture of Chester Bennington crying and the lyrics to "What I've Done" in the OP.
Ew.

You're lucky he didn't make the thread name:

Could you do simple IT support TMK?
Most likely yes. I did take many tech classes due to my major.

Some jobs I did apply for are future positions (like they won't start the interview process for a few months). I might also consider just applying to some interns for the summer, to at least have something if everything fails. It's kind of frustrating because many Professors in my major called me their favorite student, and felt I'd be the one with the highest paying job (and quickest to get a job).

Wolve can handle the probing, he seems to have a knack for it.

For what it's worth, my experience is a lot different than TMKs and it took me 10 months to land a job in my field out of college in the midwest (Ohio). So pick on him all you want, but it's not just him in this case. (Probably worse off for him with so many companies on hiring/raise freezes now as well)

ManaKnight - It would probably be best for you to bite the bullet and take just about any job you can get right now because I was not working when I was looking for my job and I could tell it made a number of employers wary of me because of that.
 Lego is in a lot of stuff these days though.

I like that album a lot. I use to rap to "Let Me Ride", "Dre Day", "Nothin But a G Thang", etc. back in the day. I kind of wonder if the CD is still in my sister's pile of old CDs.
Mana, send me pics of your sister
I can't show pictures of her (you all actually don't want to see her now). I'd be willing to send you pictures of the girl in college I use to sit next to a lot, hugged many times, said the picture of her sitting on my lab with us hugging would be on our wedding picture, almost went out on a date with, etc. One reason I wish I was at college now still is to see her again. It was the same girl I mentioned in the GGT a while ago and ended up in a few signatures here (lilboo might remember what I said).

There's a lot to be said for interviewing experience too. You don't come off on here as being all that sociable a person.

Stories like that don't help any.

I think I'm going to stop playing L4D. The last few days I've been running into a lot of lag/connection issues.

Edit: I also want to see this girl Mana is going to marry.

Use the albums to organize them. Press triangle, go to Information, and you should be able to edit the Album tag to put them into folders for say demos, PSN games, etc. Then you should just need to press square to set it to show them by albums.
Mana, stop being creepy about that chick @ Purdue who used you for a ggod grade in science and PM me pics of your sister.
It was three girls I helped out in Physics actually. The one I liked wasn't the one who just got a job (she's in Grad School now, but she changed majors a few years ago).

I have the pictures uploaded of her. I'm just not sure yet whether I'll send a PM of them or something. She'll kill me if I post them where everyone can see it. :whistle2:#
