A retail mole reports that Best Buys are only expecting to get 20 to 50 Xbox 360s each. The mole goes on to say that the 360 kiosks are supposed to be arriving at the mega electronics store starting today and that all stores should have them in place by Nov. 14. The set up will include 23-inch Samsung widescreen HDTVs and the employees are being told to encourage shoppers to check out the new system.

oh mans... I sure as hell hope not since I bought those Gamer Gift cards. I really dont want to camp overnight lol.

I sure as hell hope so lol, but I really don't want to be left with 2 $200 Best Buy gift cards and no Xbox 360

yes but........................................................ I guess 5 am just turned to 2 am unless somone can confirm that they will get enough

As long as you are one of the first 20 people on line then it shouldn't be a problem, right? How bad do you want it?

well considering i've already thrown in $370 in BB Gift card (yes I know it never expires) it's pretty important that I get it at BB =/. But yeah a 20 person line can fill up pretty quick....

I doubt anyone's going to have that many of them. The manager at my local EB told me yesterday that they had originally been promised 40+, but were just told last week that each store would only get around 20. They're honoring the pre-orders according to who pre-ordered first, at least at that store.

From what I'm hearing, MS has stretched themselves pretty thin trying to do this "near simultaneous" worldwide launch.

bad news around every corner (T_T) do I need to get a sleeping bag now?

Man things just look worse and worse. Good thing I got a friend with me willing to go early to get one.

Well looks like the 20-50 system rumor is just a rumor. I just called the BB near me and they said they would have 300 systems.
150 core and 150 regular.

so hopefully it shouldnt be too hard to get.

I'm skeptical because if they really are shipping 150 core they must be pretty retarded....

shit, looks like I'll be in line at 4pm if this is true. I hope they have a better system than just making people wait outside until 12pm.

I dunno about other stores, but my BB is doing a midnight launch. Might wanna check it out before ya go there at 3AM on the 22nd Zog ;-)

I don't think that shoppers will need to be "encouraged" to try out the 360. My guess is that people will be playing the demos on that kiosk nearly non stop.

Where I work we are only getting 22 in. According to our Home Office we won't see any more prior to christmas. The price will be around $440, and will come bundled with a extra wireless controller and the standard hard drive special remote blah blah blah ! Sorry but that 20-30 seems pretty consistent since our entire chain only shows 20-24 units on order for every store.

i was just thinking, theyve said about 400,000 systems at launch, so how many of those will be premium system with the hard drive, i totally need to get some for ebay

The BB I called said they open at 8AM. Maybe I should check around and see If I can find a midnight launch. That way if I dont get that I can speed over to a morning launch to make sure I get it.

Here's to hoping that they also have some deals on that day like they did with the xbox launch like buy 2 games and get 20 dollars off. If that's the case i'm getting PDZ (or DOA4) and kameo. If not then I guess i'll just stick with kameo.

I can imagine some BBs in more rual areas are only getting 20-50 each. I guess they're tossin 300 at this BB because it's in LA. I'm gonna call around to the diff BB's around me and seee how much each one is gettin.

I work at BB in the Home Theater department, and the we were even told that employees can not buy one from the store till after christmas since they will be in such low supply.

They dont know yet. I work at Best Buy and the quantity that has been ordered is not in the system yet.

Well if you guys find out how many you will prob be getting pls let us know :D. I want to know how early I should camp out. The guy said I should prob still show up the day before lol...

Looks like it's all Turkey and the 360 this Thanksgiving D:

Whoa. I never expected to read something like that.

I'm guessing that (employees cant buy) will be handed down from corporate once we know our real launch numbers. That's too bad, I wanted my discount on the replacement plan (no discount on systems). Looks like i'll be taking my money elsewhere, which is exactly what i'm going to tell my manager (i'm guessing he will be doing the same thing...).

well an update from kotaku's mole

As for the actual stock expected I have confirmation that at least one Best Buy’s packing list shows a grand total of 60 Xbox 360s heading their way. This is slightly higher than the 20 to 50 my first mole said were expected, but still easily fits into the “way too little” range. The latest retail mole tells me that while their initial shipment of 360s will be quite small they are expecting a much larger shipment later that week. (And knowing shipping, that means no one knows when it will arrive.)

I'm planning on picking up my pre-ordered 360 at midnight from GameSpot (they better not f*** me) and then hauling ass over to Best Buy and/or Toys R Us to see if they have any left from their midnight launch and then finally camping out at Target across the street to for their opening at 8AM on the 23rd. I'd love to pick up a few systems, one for me and the rest for e-bay whoring.

The last 2 system launches - DS & PSP - have been relatively easy to find in the Jacksonville area. I'm hoping that the $400 price point scares off the red necks that live down here and the 360 is readily available.

I stopped by Best Buy today at lunch and they said there are doing a midnight launch and expect to have a couple hundred units....

Is it just me, or is Kotaku incredibly anti-360? First they try to scare people with the melted hard drive pictures (Hey idiots, any console will melt if you put a 100 watt bulb next to it for 10 hours), and now this BS from a "retail mole". Funny, another "mole" who I know says each Best Buy will have 100-150 360's at launch, and of course, I base that on inside info from this "mole". Gimme a break.

yeah I hope you're right. It could also be the area too. Maybe that guy lives in the boonies where they havent allocated many units 0_o.

Anyone know of any BB in LA doing a midnight launch?
By "Retail Mole", they mean wigger who works weekends in the car audio department.
Yo son, you best back off wit yo shit.

kotaku is pretty damn anti-360. but you know, MS isn't a japanese company

Word on the street is that he plans to back his "Jesus Walks" Civic (so named for the insignia on the windshield) up to the door on the 22nd, and heckle the empty handed customers "You suckas just got served, hooah"
