Over G Fighters...flying under the radar?

Personally, I'm very interested in it, but hoping for a demo. Evidently, with the exception of the plane models, the graphics have a 'last gen in high res' bent. But it's supposed to look great in HD at least, and have more of a sim style than AC.

Not a high profile release, but it has been preiewed in many magazines and websites. To be honest with the way 360 titles currently sort of trickle out I think it'll be til around the holidays before we ever see a real unknown sleeper. Anyhow, yeah the previews I read seem to indicate it's looking pretty solid, some say the the graphics could be better but Gamespot's hands-on seemed to indicate that the controls were really responsive and very customizable which is great for a jetfighter simulation game. I think my biggest disappointment will be that you can't play it with a flightstick at all.

Im gonna get this...I need a new game. Plus i love fighter jet games. And this one is gonna be online not like blazing angels. This is modern fighters.

I might get it eventually but for the time being it will become the second 360 game I don't own with FFXI being the other.

I have a been interested in this game since it was announced. Big fan of Ace Combat so I hoping this would be sort of similar.

I have been looking for a deal but have yet to find one.

If that gamecrazy trade in two get one for free deal works I might try to trade in Madden and Tiger for it.
Due to the extreme lack of any hype whatsoever, I'm inclined to believe it sucks.
That's a ridiculous way to guage a game... I really hope you're fucking kidding. If you're being sarcastic though, cheers!

It looks at least average. If you're into air combat then I would pick it up because the graphics look great, the controls seemed ok (from what I've seen), and it looks like an overall nice fight simulator. I don't know if I'd drop $60 on it, but it looks like it'd be a good rental. The best details I've seen are that you get can get 8 people in an online match or Co-op (don't know if 8 people can be in the Co-op matches, as it wasn't clear - just said 8 in either) and that there are over 80 missions, leading me to believe there is a lot of time you have to put in the game. My main complaint is that it just looks boring, half the videos I've seen are you out in the middle of some desert shooting every 10 seconds at something and some Russian officer shouting orders at you.

Not every game, but this one.

It's being distributed by a huge company (Ubisoft) who always hypes up all their games. The fact that they've created no publicity makes me suspicious about the quality of it.

I could be wrong, but it seems that way.

Ubi actually doesn't make huge spectacles of their games. They put some nice trailers together and show off the gameplay and the gamesites and gamers do the rest. Except for maybe the Rainbow Six games or Ghost Recon but even those don't get too much hype from Ubi. They just make great games.

That aside, this game is actually made by Taito and being published by Ubi so the gameplay is actually in Taito's hands. Now that scares me a little.

Deathrow and Beyond Good & Evil are the first thing to come to mind regarding this.

BG&E was pretty good imo, but Deathrow was rated way too high. It can be kind of fun in two player though.

Deathrow is one of my favorite games on the original machine, still own my original copy and actually gets syslink love at parties.

I'm going to try and see if I can get some kiosk time somewhere with this one on a slow day some time soon.

What is wrong with them they are a good company..tell me one game they messed up?

I hope they release a demo for this. I'm interested in the game, but not enough to go out and buy it for full price day one.

Ok, you asked:

Genesis: Growl
NES: Flintstones, Jetsons
DS: Lost Magic, Top Gun, Space Invaders Revolution
Playstation: Jupiter Strike (Worst Game Eva?)
Gamecube: Space Raiders

Any company making Space Invaders retreads in 2006, is skeptical in my book.

HA ha thats funny. I think growl is one of the best i put so many hours into that game.

Well the trade in deal worked yesteday and I am picking up Over G tonight on my way home from work. I traded in Madden and Tiger and got $60 credit.

I will give a full report after I play it a little. It will probably be a couple days until then because I got some things to do and a few friends are coming by to play some Fifa World Cup!

What sucks is that you can't play this unless you have a save device..

which means no in-store demos.. at least at my store. The HD is weird about saving on the demo units.

My brother bought the game and I played with it for a couple hours. I would say pass on this unless you are a diehard flight simulator gamer. I will admit that I am not a huge fan of these type of games. However, I did find myself getting into blazing angels pretty good. But, I think unless you love these type of games you may want to rent in using Gamefly or something. I personally feel like this game isn't worth a 7.99 rental at Blockbuster.

YEah i totally agree with him. Unless you are a die hard dont purchase. Game looks nice the planes and the replays look cool it just feels slow. On a straght line i really couldnt get my F-14 to his any thing above 600 spd. But I did climb up to about 20000 feet and went down at a 45 degree angle and reached 820 speed. I thought these planes were faster i guess its due to the online. I dont know Im on the start of senario 3. I like it But if you compare it to ace combat. PASS If you compare it to airforce delta. MAYBE. Missions are short as heck but its more realistic. You dont carry tons of missles and fuel runs out. More of a sim.

I am a die hard, and I've long awaited a modern flight game WITH online play. To hell with Teamxbox's review.

Picking it up tomorrow after work. :)

Top Gun is the only game on that list that's not that good, and even that's not too bad.

This game is decent, but I don't really think it's a hardcore sim. It's slower than, say, Ace Combat, to be sure. But the way it plays is still pretty simplistic. Some fun elements, but overall, one you could probably pass on. (unless you're a total achievement whore like me)

GameSpot finally added their review:

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sim/worldairforce/review.html?sid=6153553

5.9 - mediocre

The Good:
Lots of different planes to unlock; somewhat lengthy campaign mode.

The Bad:
Weak mission design; planes usually feel sluggish, and the control options don't help much; really bland voice acting.

I'd update the OP, but Douche McGilacutty thought it was a good idea to merge his thread with my review thread.
