Overstock - Refurbushed Premium 360 $317.95 Shipped
refurbished 360 = BAD deal unless it's under $150.
agree with you. Buying a refurbished Xbox 360 is very risky.

What, like a new one is any better off? Buy a warranty from MS and call it a deal. New or refurbished, it's probably gonna break anyway.

are they still breaking? I was under the impression it was just the first run if there still breaking what does that say about the company?
I got a new one for that price at Overstock just before Christmas last year.
i did too. got mine $307 premium last year this time from overstock brand new
i modded it and got banned and would like another one just to play Live, but i dread getting refurb's unless it's got same MS warranty and it is not manufactured in 2005/early 2006 (thats where the failure rate is reported to be high, my 2 friends with red ROL errors were both 2005 launch systems :hot:)

Buying refurbs is a pretty risky business. There is a good chance that these have a new cooling system in them, but you may be better off waiting until fall for the update where the 360s have smaller, cooler chips in them.
Does it really matter if it's refurbished? With the new warranty, you have 3 years...
well i believe it might be from the orig purchase date of that particular 360. b

Where does it say there is a 3 year warranty. It doesn't even say that there's a warranty at all on these! At most it's 3 months. There would also be a 1 year warranty continued from whenever the 360 was originally purchased, so there could be no additional warranty at all.

hmmm...well with this warranty, buying a refurbished 360 may not be a bad idea...

How common are problems that aren't related to ring of death system failures?

supposedly 30% but who cares u have a warranty...! lol
jk well the rrefurbs supppose to have that whole cooler thing im gonna hold out till july 10th to se ewhat m$ has to say about their 360

Um where does it say refurbs are covered under the warranty any more so than the previous warranty?

Yea, it could be that a price drop is announed...which could make this only $200...

IGN had a whole E3 predictions article. They think that there is a really good chance for a $100 price drop.

It wouldn't be all that crazy to think there will be a price drop. With the new smaller chips they're putting in the 360, it's cheaper to manufacture a 360, so they can afford to drop the price.
Yeah, I'm holding out until after E3 to see what happens.
we should all! so when we hear m$ say "yeah thanks to speedy from CAG we are going to drop the price of the 360"
lol
alfonsosoriano is on our forums people!!! join the padres!! haha jp

So would the 3 year warranty start from the date you purchase the refurb, or the date it was originally sold, or? I'm just trying to cover my ass since I already purchased a refurb, but previously I intended to simply buy a one year warranty from MS. I just keep hearing conflicting reports on how the warranty works. The idea that I can buy a refurb and be almost as well off as someone who purchases a new console for +$100 seems to good to be true.

its one year from when that refurb was ORIGINALLY purchased, so not your purchase date. Just call M$ or something find out when that was originally purchased.

I would love for Soriano to get out of Chicago...hahaha...oh boy do I miss him.

*is a Yankee fan*
why do these prices fluctuate so much??!
just wait till july 10th after m$'s conference at E3 and well finally know

Man that would suck if the price dropped considering I just bought a refurb for the price at which I could have gotten a new one if I waited.

(Well, it would suck for me, but be good for everyone else.)

Hey, now that they just recently had that letter of apology from Peter Moore about extending the warranty to a 3-year period if it red rings, is it a bit safer to pick up a refurb? I'd like to grab one, but I wasn't totally aware of how the warranty would work with one that was already pre-owned.

well the new warrranty takes affect from the day the system was bought. lets assume a worst case scenario and these are 360 are from 2005 ud still have a 1 year warranty.
but dont buy it i suggest you wait till the day after M$'s conference at E3.
yeah thats why we said wait till the 10th. but im sure u can return it so dont worry too much!
Not from where I bought it (not overstock), they're assholes.

I hadn't heard anything about E3 or a potential price drop until quite recently. I honestly had no idea when I bought my refurb.

oh. whered u buy it from?

eCost.com. I highly recommend no one ever buy anything from them, ever. I tried to cancel the order and they conveniently waited 24+ hours until the order shipped to tell me they couldn't cancel because it had shipped (well no shit). And their return policy is basically nonexistent. The only way I'll be able to return it is if I magically receive it damaged or broken or something (which, based on reviews I've read, has happened often in the past, so I might luck out). But yeah it's my fault for not doing my homework, so.

Well I figure I'll still bite on it. I'm just trading in a bunch of CAGed old games for credit at a local shop...stuff that probably cost me only around 100 bucks anyway, so I'm still getting a pretty good deal if I get it this weekend. Plus, I'm gonna buy it used regardless since I'd really rather not spend actual cash if possible, so lord knows how the shops around here will deal with the price drop when it comes to pre-owned anyway.

Well, 360 has gone almost 600 days without a price drop, which historically, is a very long time to go without a price drop. I could see both Sony and Microsoft showing off tons of awesome stuff, and then being like, PRICE DROP, YEAH!

I'm also wondering what Peter Moore will have tattooed to himself this year...
now to play the waiting game.
I hate the waiting game. I'm playing two waiting games right now...one for the Microsoft press conference, and another for my Vista Ultimates...

Actually over a year. Worst case scenerio is its warranty expires in November of 2008. I seriously doubt there are many refurbs still being recycled in and out that old though. Keep in mind though folks the extended warranty is ONLY ON RED RING HARDWARE FAILURES. This does not include something like a rom failure which is where the $40 extended warranty still helps.

I just got the red ring of death last night :whistle2:( x box told me it is gonna be like a month and a half for repair but they are paying for everything including the shipping. One and a half months says they are getting alot more than 30% breaking. Rumor has it forza 2 might be too graphicly taxing on the gpu and the heat is warping the board causing the soders to break from the board. hope they fix it *crosses fingers*:-({|=

i know this sounds bad but i hope its the 3 rings so he can get it fixed.
good luck.

Guys I got a question. I wanted to know, how can I be sure a manufacturer refurbished console that I bought is actually manufacturer refurbished? I was just wondering because the one I got came in a pretty beatup box. It had all the parts (except for some reason the power cable does not look like the one I have [I don't know if that's normal]). I mean how can I be sure that the retailer isn't selling me a console that was returned or something else? If it's a refurb I'd expect it to come in a nice new box considering one doesn't send the box back to MS when their console breaks if I'm not mistaken. So what condition should a refurb be in?

i remember reading somewhere god ill have to dig it up for u but u can tell if it has the new heatsinks or not... dam i wish u the best of luck
