That's not why you've upset people in this thread. Perhaps it's the reason for some, but not for me. Gender has no place in this issue-- you were a jerk to everyone. There's trying to express your opinion and the other side of the issue and then there's doing what you did. A simple "Hey guys, at least they're continuing the series," would have sufficed.

I made a point about how impressive Asian cell phone games are these days, hoping it would inspire some optimism about this. I asked that you all quit shitting about this news so hard, and maybe try to see the good in it. I got a ton of sass and bullshit in return. I replied to some of it. More bullshit fired my way (in blind defense of a girl-on-the-internet), and this time, some of it is impossible to comprehend, bizarre comparisons of myself to Ken fucking Kutaragi.

That I appearantly have to point out that an unsuccessful videogame series being given a second chance, in any form, especially after a long lapse of time and a major restructuring of the company responsible for it, is at least PARTIALLY good news, is evidence over how ridiculously negative the predisposition here is, so I guess I'm powerless to try and soothe it. Christ, the reactions here are comparable to, say, if people had bitched about Serenity being made, despite that event being a miracle, instead of Firefly being brought back as a TV show.

It's not really comparable because American fans could see Serenity in a movie theater and later buy it on a DVD.
I think part of the problem is this may never be released in America. I can agree with you people not seeing ANY good in this are flawed because it is at least a ressurection of the IP-- just not in the best circumstance and format for Americans at least.

I didn't ever think the baby comments were all that bad, but more on how you went about things. You posted once, which no one responded to. You posted again to apparently yield some recoginition or response which you got. Mana was a little incited, and you fired back. I don't think anyone specifically said or thought, "She's a girl, leave her alone." In fact, there was only one person that referred to her as a "she" (while making the valid point that she was interested in being able to play the game instead of it being a Japanse cell phone release.)
I honestly can tell you that I wasn't going to give Mana any special treatment because of her gender. It just seems like you were waiting in the thread for an excuse to flip out. Mana was that excuse, female or not. I'm positive no one got upset at you strictly because of what you said was to a female but rather how you acted.

It does happen. But you can't speculate that it happened here based off of previous experience. It's not fair or based on fact about the specific situation. There's also nothing here to indicate that something like that happened other than how you keep trying to push on us that it did.
She may have flipped out, but the comment she quoted (and your other comments) also had insults, no matter how arguably small they may have been, included. Sorry, but it doesn't help you and your hypothesis that you did nothing wrong and we're all sexists.

The reason why she got support is because it doesn't matter if Japanese cellphones make the PS3 look like an Atari 2600. We won't get to play it. I see nothing wrong with people being annoyed and saddened because they can't play a game they were looking forward to. If you don't care about Parasite Eve then leave the thead. I think we can all rally the wagons around the fact that square-enix is more than a lot of ass these days and PE3 on mobile will someday be widely regarded as a bad move.

They probably couldn't be buggered with putting it on DS because they're elbow deep in FFXIII spinoff work. Ugh..
 
I never played the first PE but I do have PE2 and finished it a couple of years ago. I thoughly enjoyed PE2, it kept me busy when I was out of work for 2 months. The story and gameplay made it one of the best survival horror games I've played, up there with the best of the RE series. This news is kindof disappointing, I was hoping for it to come out for DS or PS2.
 
Um, doesn't anyone realize that Square-Enix has released a 3D cellphone game in the US already? Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode has been here for months. I don't think the reason that Before Crisis hasn't been released is that our phones can't handle it. It's more likely its subscription-based nature.
 
thats a complete waste of a quality title. i liked the 2 games on the ps1 ( although i never finished them) but this must be a new trend since they said on attack of the show they were coming out with god of war for the cellphone too.
 
Hopefully we'll see a DS or PSP port. I'd be interesting in playing this game on any platform, even it that meant a phone, though that would be my last choice.
