Pat Robertson says muslims will turn to Jesus Christ in 2005

CAGiversary!
That's right, folks. Those radical right-wing nuts are at it again, this time it's Pat Robertson again leading the cause:

On the January 3 edition of Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club, Reverend Pat Robertson, host and Christian Coalition of America founder, made predictions for the New Year based on what he said God told him during a recent prayer retreat. Robertson said that God told him: "I will remove judges from the Supreme Court quickly, and their successors will refuse to sanction the attacks on religious faith." Robertson also said that he "heard it from the Lord" that President Bush will have Social Security and tax reform passed and that Muslims will turn to Jesus Christ.
Robertson currently features on his official website, under the heading "Operation Supreme Court Freedom," a letter released following the June 2003 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Lawrence v. Texas that decriminalized homosexual sodomy. In the letter, Robertson asked his supporters to pray for liberal U.S. Supreme Court Justices to retire: "Would you join with me and many others in crying out to our Lord to change the Court? ... One justice is 83 years old, another has cancer, and another has a heart condition. Would it not be possible for God to put it in the minds of these three judges that the time has come to retire? With their retirement and the appointment of conservative judges, a massive change in federal jurisprudence can take place."

When asked to clarify his remarks, according to a July 17 Associated Press report, Robertson said that "he was not talking about any particular Supreme Court justices when he asked his television audience to pray that three liberal justices retire." Robertson stated: "I don't care which three, I mean as long as the three conservatives stay on. ... There's six liberals, so it's up to the Lord." The AP also noted: "Justice John Paul Stevens was born in 1920 [making him 83 at the time of Robertson's remarks] and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had colon cancer surgery in 1999."

On the 700 Club broadcast, Robertson touted his 2004 New Year's prediction that President George W. Bush would win re-election by "a blowout" as an example of a past prediction that turned out to be correct. On January 2, 2004, Robertson stated: "I think George Bush is going to win in a walk. I really believe I'm hearing from the Lord it's going to be like a blowout election in 2004. It's shaping up that way." As Media Matters for America has noted, Bush's margin of victory was the smallest for a reelected incumbent president since Woodrow Wilson in 1916.

Other Robertson predictions have fared less well. According to a February 15, 1988, Washington Post article, Robertson said, "I heard the Lord saying 'I have something else for you to do. I want you to run for president of the United States.'" The same article noted that during one campaign stop during the 1988 presidential race, Robertson stated: "This is where God wanted me to be. ... Here I am in New Hampshire, before a major primary." He then said, "I assure you that I am going to be the next president of the United States," according to a February 15 Washington Post article. After trailing George H.W. Bush and Senator Bob Dole in the Republican primaries, Robertson's 1988 presidential campaign ended before the Republican convention. A February 2004 article in Church & State magazine (published by Americans United for Separation of Church and State) noted several Robertson predictions that turned out to be false, including that Russia would invade Israel in 1982, and that there would be a worldwide economic collapse in 1985. The article went on to mention that "In his 1991 book, The New World Order, Robertson predicted that U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller would be elected president in 1996."

Robertson's predictions for 2005:

The economy: "Again, 2005 is going to be a year of extraordinary prosperity for this nation and for CBN [Christian Broadcasting Network]. And I think the American stock market is going to surge upward, if I heard from the Lord. Again, ladies and gentlemen, don't go and buy stock on my recommendation, but that's what I feel in my heart. The Lord was saying it's going to be a super good year."
George W. Bush: "Well, the Lord has some very encouraging news for George Bush ... What I heard is that Bush is now positioned to have victory after victory and that his second term is going to be one of triumph, which is pretty strong stuff. ... He'll have Social Security reform passed. He'll have tax reform passed. He'll have conservative judges on the courts. And that basically he is positioned for a series of dramatic victories which I hope will hearten him and his advisers. They don't have to be timid in this matter because the wind is blowing at his back, and he can move forward boldly and get results."
Muslims and others turning to Jesus Christ: "In America, again if I'm hearing God right, we will see a tremendous incident of miracles in the year 2005.
... God's spirit is going to be moving in dramatic power around the world. And his spirit is going to be touching the hearts of many in the Muslim world and they will be turning to the gospel, to Jesus Christ. I think many of them already are, but this is going to be an acceleration that will really amaze the world. ... 'Revival will break out throughout the Muslim world, my [God's] truth will penetrate their hearts. The hold of that falsehood that has gripped them will be broken.'"
Terrorism and global security: "2005 will be another good year for the world. The terrorist threat will diminish. Nations will walk in peace, but it will be an illusion. The peril to Israel is greater now than it has ever been for she will be seduced into a false peace that will leave her vulnerable."
The Supreme Court: "The vendetta against religion in America is about to end. ... 'I [God] will remove judges from the Supreme Court quickly and their successors will refuse to sanction the attacks on religious faith.'"

What an ass.

Whats hilarious is that he says all these judges are liberal, when almost all have been appointed by conservatives.

Also, no matter who appoints the judges they have an opinion of their own. Reagan thought he had gotten rid of abortion with his appointments, and look what happened

Bush can succeed by appointing moderate conservatives to office instead of ones on the extreme right wing. If he shows some gesture that he wants to unite America, this would be a good start

and did anyone hear what he had to say about Kwanzaa?
God just spoke to me and told me that Pat Robertson is a shaq-fuing idiot.
At least he is not as bad as Jerry Fallwell. You can't get much worse than saying we brought 9/11 on ourselves

Pat Robertson once fired a someone from his 700 club who divorced a woman who abandoned her family, yet Robertson also openly praised Reagan, the first divorced president.
Robertson also said that the devil is walking among us and it is a Jewish male. It could be me.
With that description, it could be Jesus himself.

I love that guy. Yes in a gay way. ;)

Anyways...

He once told a women that men are the leader of the house even if he is wrong. (He was "wrong" because he didn't go to church and thought the wife was a dumbass for going.)

He also blamed black teenages for destroying welfare and shit. He's such a dumbass.

I'm going to unleash the radical religious portion of my personality and say that he's right. Not for the reasons that he thinks, though: Bush is actually a servany of the anti-christ (possibly the actual anti-christ, but most likely not.) For accepted end-times scenarios to happen, the US has to become irrelevant in the world. Traditionally, the theory has been nuclear war, but I think Bush is going to do a much better job by enbroiling us in a civil war once the full extent of his administration's corruption is revealed. He's doing a pretty good job of fulfilling the rest of the prophesies, though: the middle east is being completely destablized, while China rises to power (which leads to China's invasion of the middle-east.)'

Most current end-time theories revolve around the time of the death of (the last) long-reigning pope, and the current pope fits the bill in several other ways, too (too complicated to get into, though.) So, most likely end-times should be well underway within the next 2-3 years (since he's most likely not going to live much longer than that.)

Actually, I don't really believe in any of this stuff, but its really, really, REALLY fun to keep up-to-date on :)

Fallwell blamed it on US ? Let me guess, it's our fault becuase we're so tolerent of abhorrent behaviour like allowing the gays and abortionists to exist.

Pat Robertson was interviewing Falwell on 9/12 when Falwell blamed the 9/11 attacks on allowing gay rights and abortions. Pat agreed with Jerry so I think they're both dumb as hell.
Given Robertson's track record of bad predictions, God either needs to fix Pat's hearing or stop mumbling and enunciate more.

All crazy Chatholics do is say... "this change is bad.....". People then ask why, and they had to think of something, so it's now.... "This (whatever they are complaining about) is bad... because it leads to gay marriage and abortions... those lead to the end of the world!"

Think about it, they say......

9-11 was caused because God is punishing us for giving gays rights, and abortion. Doesn't make sense considering the USA probably has one of the least rights given to gays. If God wanted to do some good he would have hit Europe.

Womens rights (aka abortion rights and working for themselves) lead to the blending of the sexes and that leads to gay right and that leads to the downfall of the universe.....

Those are the only two things left for them to complain about in order to get money so they can go fuck little kids.

I'm amazed women listen to these fools.

I think the question is, if they're Robertson's type, who will notice the change?

Hey listen - I'm usually arguing with all you guys on these boards - but not this time. Pat Robertson is a serious asshole and has been for many many years...

He's never let go of his failure to missionize Marklar. It's made him a big(ger) jerk.

My question is if he didnt believe in this then why would he do it? its not like he is looking for donations for his predictions? He is pretty well respected from the people I have talked with.

Enlighten me.

He's constantly looking for donations. That's how televangelists operate.

Look this is in the politics side forums. I honestly dont follow that crap to much because its all full of ..... well shit to be honest. Everyone is somewhat deceiving.

I know he is always looking for donations.. He would be regardless if he expressed what he "heard" How does him telling this to people put him in the boat for more money? It really doesnt, if anyhing it would risk him losing "believers".

Bottom line is he is always asking for donations this doesnt change that so is everyones thought here that he just pulls this stuff from his ass or that maybe he really does
A) hear these things
or
B) Believe he hears these things?

Yeah, I guarantee that 15 seconds after this section of the show, he went on to hawk his latest book of prophecy that you can buy for a mere $29.95. I'm sorry, I mean you can 'recieve as a gift' for a 'donation' of $29.95. I wouldn't want to get him in trouble with the IRS by making it sound like he's blatently violating non-profit regulations on a daily basis.

Anyway, all the 'prophecies' he makes on air are usually little more than a buildup of his latest book. If you want the details of how all the Muslims are going to turn to Jesus, you're going to have to fork over the cash.

The weak-minded are more likely to give their money to Pat if he can make them believe God talks to him. He took credit for a hurricane changing course and not hitting Virginia Beach (his home base). Like all psychics, fortune tellers and mystics, he is a flim-flam man. He's just been more successful than most.

Every time Robertson and Falwell open their big, stupid mouths they do irreperable harm to their cause. If they were smart they'd just STFU, but no chance of that.
Every time Robertson and Falwell open their big, stupid mouths they do irreperable harm to their cause. If they were smart they'd just STFU, but no chance of that.
Falwell is thinking of starting the Christian Coalition back up, so there is absolutely no chance of him ever shutting up
Every time Robertson and Falwell open their big, stupid mouths they do irreperable harm to their cause.
It depends on what you think their cause is. If you think its advancing Christian values - well, I'm sorry, but you're wrong. If you think their cause is spreading hatred bigotry - well, you'd be right about Falwell. Robertson is just in it for the money.

What pisses me off the most about shit like this is that it stains all friken Christians and even by extension all religions. Its people like this who make sane, level-headed religious people look like kooks. We aren't all like this, I can believe in God and NOT be a raving lunatic as well.
He need some guy running around him like in family Guy yelling...

"Hey, he's a phony! He's a big fat phoney!"

I was watching the 700 Club last night, get a great laugh out of it.

His son was hosting and going "Put your hand on a problem area, there are no little diseases in the eye of God... blah blah...".

So if I get cancer all I will have to do is pray and I'll be fine? What a bunch of dumbasses.
and did anyone hear what he had to say about Kwanzaa?
Kwanzaa is a fraud, started by a fraud. History.

I was reading the quotes in News Week from October.

They had the quote from this ass and it went somehting like....

"The lord told me that the Iraqi war was a mistake and a disaster. That there will be many deaths." - Pat Robertson concuoling the president.

So many problems with that. Maybe Bush went in there because he knew it would be a mistake and wants it to lead to the end of the Earth that was the religios freak can go "told you so".
