I got two emails that purport to be from PayPal saying that someone tried to access my account from another country. They are going to suspend my account if I do not respond. The email says not to respond because no one will get it and there is a link in the email to what looks like a paypal site. Has anyone else gotten this? They are normally scams but this one looks really real - the theives are getting better at this crap...

This is always, ALWAYS, a scam. Don't fall for it. I've gotten "mortgage companies" sending me this type of stuff also. Never click on anything related to suspended accounts.

They've been getting smarter with these fake emails. I got one from "ebay" the other day that appeared to be pointing to a legit address, but actually had embedded javascript that would have routed me to another page upon clicking the link.

If you get an email like this and are worried about your account, I'd recommend opening another browser window and navigate and log onto the site in question.

I got this one today! Two copies of it...yahoo's on top of it, so it went directly to the spam folder.

Here's a simple rule that will make your life easier: Never, ever, ever, ever, ever click any link in an email. This is true of PayPal, eBay, and any other email about your account at a site. Instead, go to the site by typing in the address in your browser. If the email was real and was anything important, there'll be information about it when you log into the site.

right click and check the credentials... If it has a vertified certificate its real..

More than likely its FAKE.

its a scam. ive been getting those same emails for over a month now and nothing has happened to my paypal account. needless to say, i never clicked on the link.

Never click any link. Almost all people who do business online. i.e. paypal ebay you banking company most of them never send you a link. Look at it like this why would they send you a link if you already know where to go.

im getting these too
i asks me for my social, credit card number, pin number and all that crap

i emailed paypal and they said its a scam

I got these in my school e-mail (I thought they had a good spam blocker too...). But the funny thing is, I didn't have a Paypal account at that time.

Now I do have a Paypal account, so I got to becareful now.
NO, IT'S NOT A SCAM!

Hurry and send them your info so they don't cancel your account!
Ah, nothing like helping natural selection out a bit. To weed out the stupid... :D

And by that I mean, the ones who would actually read down to said quoted point, and then proceed to send their info. The fact that scammers are getting so good scares me. Not for myself, but I've actually been teaching my mom how to use eBay and Paypal... it worries me that she may be taken advantage of.

I get those spam email that look like they are from paypal or ebay often too. I wonder why those spammers waste time to send out those emails. Does anyone fall for those fake emails?
