My paypal has a $500 a month withdraw limit and I want to lift that. To lift it you have to apply for some thing that charges you $2, but they eventually pay you back that $2. And you also have to confirm your social security number. So I go to the screen and put in my SSN and they say it is invalid. WTF?!

I've never had this problem anywhere before, let it be credit cards, insurance, when I bought my car, I think paypal is just being stoopid.

Can you do a credit check to be sure someone hasn't done anything untoward with your identity? I don't want you to panic, as I don't understand why PP would say it's invalid but I'd definately want to check it out.

If PayPal doesn't get back to you with a valid response as to why it was considered invalid, you can get a free credit report (it'll show what accounts have been opened in your name with your SSN) once a year from AnnualCreditReport.com

I'd also swing by your local SS Department (or call) to ask them for advise.
