PC Gaming Headset Decision

ZasKuLL

CAGiversary!
For general WoW vent talk, I'm split between a basic USB headset and getting a USB Bluetooth adapter and using my PS3 blueooth headset. They're pratically the same price (not looking to spend alot) and I already have the PS3 headset. Please help me make a decision. Here are the links to the products:

USB Headset $29.99

USB Bluetooth adapter $26.99

(mods move if it's in the wrong place)

I know this isn't part of your selection, but what I use is this:

I pair it with a pair of really good heaphones (that don't come with a mic). Just throwing out that solution because I think most people don't realize a stand alone mic is an option.

As for your question, I would take the usb headset. My experience with bluetooth for my laptop is that it tends to drop connection a lot.

Ok so this next part is going to sound pretty dumb. The headset I put below uses a 3.5 mm connector. I have two ports next to each other on the front of my PC tower, one is for a pair of headphones and the other says it's for a microphone. Are these 3.5 mm connectors? Like I don't want to buy this thing and then not be able to use it or something.

EDIT: Here's a picture of the connectors on my PC.

Yeah, those are standard headphone and microphone jacks.

Screw a headset though.

Get a pair of Sennheiser headphones and a Zalman clip mic. If you want to stay on the cheap side, the HD201's can be bought from Amazon for like $20 or less now and offer amazing sound quality for their price. The mic has gone up slightly in price, but it's still pretty cheap at $13.

You'll be much happier with something like that than a cheapy headset from Best Buy.

I bought one of those a half a year ago. I like it, when it works. My computer seems to be temperamental about when I plug it in and what's running. Sometimes it works fine; other times it won't work at all. Of course whatever difficulties I get would probably be the same with any USB headset.

for me, i just use the headset with the generic Win7 drivers. works great!. also, i noticed that sometimes if i plug in another device that uses a good amount of power ( say, the cooler for my laptop) it will deactivate my headset. though if i unplug and replug the headset, its works just fine.

I did this, except instead of Senns I got Grado SR-80s which sound really good for music but are kinda terrible for games/movies.

The mic is cool though. I have no idea how it sounds but everyone says they can hear me fine. It's much less irritating to wear than, say, the Xbox headset.

Of course I only did that because I had the SR-80s first. I don't know how good your headphones are, if you even have good headphones, and if you want to get good ones.

If you are willing to spend the money I second this. I have had one since launch and I love it. I was having problems for a while with the mic cutting out but I updated my firmware and it's working great now.
