PC Monitor Hookup

CAGiversary!
Hey everyone. I am thinking about getting a ps3 soon, but I don't want to drop cash on an HDTV because I will most likely be moving back to Japan within the year and I won't be able to bring it with me. I want know if I can hook it up to my PC monitor.

Here is the model:

Now I have read a few guides on how to do it and apparently you just need an HDMI-DVI cable for the monitor and some other adapter for the sound. However, I have read that if your monitor doesn't support HDCP then it wont work.

I have no idea what HDCP is or if my monitor has/supports it. Would I be able to run a PS3 on my monitor? And does anyone know of any solid guides out there for this kind of connection?

HDCP is an anti piracy protocal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hdcp

Googling for "LCM-19w4 hdcp" suggests no, that monitor does not have HDCP. I didn't bother checking manufacturer's site, but that would likely confirm it.

Many new monitors have an HDMI port. Almost all new ones have HDCP, over DVI-D. So if monitor did not have HDMI, you would need a HDMI to DVI-D cable ($20 at wal-mart, or $10 at monoprice.com).

No, an hdmi to dvi cable still won't work if your monitor doesn't support hdcp. You would need an adapter called HDfury in addition to the hdmi to dvi cable. The HDFury is pretty expensive, but I would get both at monoprice.com for the best prices.
