Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Re-Print (06/14/2006)
I think your completely missing the point. If you want to buy up a store's entire stock (whether it's Wal-Mart, some place that only people in the Miltary can shop at or the trunk of someone's car) don't even bother posting about it at CAG as it's probably just going to rub people the wrong way if anything. In this case (unlike the normal boring I bought x amount of a certain game to sell on eBay) you mentioned how selling the extras on eBay for money is spreading the wealth with CAGs which I don't get and I'm thinking you don't either as when you quoted me you didn't anwser that and went off about something else instead.
No...I got it. Your arguments just seemed rather arbitrary and almost irrational, so I wasnt sure HOW to respond to it. You paint with a rather broad brush, and it seems clear that you're not going to convince me, nor will I convince you, to see the other's POV. I dont know how you can rationalize someone hording items from a free-access-to-the-public store like WalMart or even the trunk of someone's car, as comparable to picking things up from a limited-access-to-a-certain-group merchant. The first is literally taking things from public circulation, while the second is pulling something from a private circle and making it more publicly available. They dont seem all that similar to me.

As far as the whole 'spreading the wealth' analogy, perhaps it was a poor turn of phrase. My point was to illustrate what I said above...the private-access merchant had a glut of these in-demand items, and I was trying to share access with a group of people who were reportedly interested. More than one person in this thread had bemoaned how it didnt appear they would ever get their hands on this game, and I thought it might be well received to offer them up. I was unaware that there was public trading on this forum, but even if I were, I think I would have stuck with the decision to use the widely-accepted means of conducting such transactions...EBay...because I figured it offered certain protections for both buyer and seller.

You (and possibly others) keep inserting a certain amount of malice into my comments about APossum, when I sincerely wanted to ask if he had offered his DS Lite to the CAG forums before he posted it on EBay. Of course, there seems to be a lot of implied understanding of my thoughts and motives in this matter, as there certainly has been no shortage of flaming my actions by this group.
If taking advantage of CAG postings to make money at the expense of other CAG's who will miss out on the deal because you bought the whole store is comparable to biting the hand that feeds you...

Coming to the site and bragging about it is like biting the hand that feeds you and then spitting in the face of the person who feeds you. I agree with FOnewearl...if you're going to horde at least keep it to yourself. Nobody here is going to high-five you for taking the deals away from the rest of us for your own profit
See above, please. I fail to understand how any non-military personnel missed out on a potential deal, or had a deal snuck out from under them because of my actions? How exactly were 95% of CAGs going to obtain access to them, given were they were being sold?

I thought I was doing a legitimate good turn by placing these games into wider circulation, and as I have expressed (all public skepticism and flaming notwithstanding), was not looking to win the lottery by posting them for public auction. If some of you out there are not interested in that, fair enough...but the high-horse 'we know what you're REALLY up to' judgmentalism is really unwarranted.

It seems there was a lot of misunderstanding here. You see, there is actually a lot of history of certain people hording all the remaining clearance games (especially highly sought after ones for $5) at a particular location and then either selling them for high dollar at eBay or cashing in at EB during their promotion periods and getting hundreds of dollars in credit. Then they have the audacity to come here and brag about it and hope we all think they are cool. Not only does thingss like this keep games that we each actually want to play out of our hands, but it ruins all deals for us. For example, EB used to have some good trade-in bonus promotions quite often. Sometimes the trade-in titles did not even have exclusions. Well, a couple of CC and TRU clearances where people raped EB pretty much did those frequent deals in. In fact, I haven't personally heard of one since then until the current $10 bonus deal. So when it looks like we have one of those characters, people are quick to jump on them. As for everyone else, it seems he just wanted to take these out of the commissary where they were going to sit unsold for the next ten years. As he said, he didn't realize there was massive trading going on here. He is new afterall, and the big obvious draw to this site is great deals, not trading. I am personally willing to believe he meantg no malice. I hope this thread hasn't ruined your experience here, noodle. I know I don't come around here much anymore because some people have PMS 24/7. But everyone isn't that way and this really is a great forum overall. ;)

Be sure to snatch a copy up. It's well worth it just to play.

this one
I see thanks I didn't even realize that he made a thread in the Auction forum as I rarely ever venture much that way.
As far as the whole 'spreading the wealth' analogy, perhaps it was a poor turn of phrase.
That's cool that's all I really wanted to be realized in the first place. Reading what you posted in that other thread it looks like you may not have realized that you were pretty much guaranteed to make $40-50ish at least selling it on eBay. I don't think the fact that you bought all of them was that big of a deal as they might have taken forever sell or sit around forever I would agree.

I just put my pre-order in at Sam Goody. Free shippin on orders $25 or more. I can't wait?

To those of you that have bought from Sam Goody before, how are their shipping times and what not?

Just wanted to point out the fine print on the free shipping (click on Details on their banner)...

"Offer excludes Video Games, Electronics Advantage, Instruments, Used, and Gift Cards."

Hmm, well it worked fine for me. I didn't get charged for shipping.

Pre-ordered from FYE with the free shipping. I'll be damned if I miss out on this for the third time.
Wow, I'm surprised at the reaction, to say the least.

APossum, out of sincere curiosity, did you post anything on these forums offering your DS Lite and other assorted games for what you paid, before you listed it on EBay? I am suddenly a bad person for doing what many others appear to already be doing over on the auction board? I am asking sincere questions over here, because apparently I have breached some sort of etiquette that doesnt otherwise clearly exist.

I doubt many, if any, of you have access to military BX/PX stores? If, as I assume, that is true, how did I 'hoard' anything from any of you? Yeesh. And you folks who want to flame me for 'not even knowing what I am doing'...feel free to check my feedback. Does it look like I am one of these people who buys 8 XBOX 360's to sell them for profit on EBay? Riiiight.

I've only posted 3 of the games, 2 of them not even having received any bids. Are you saying I should offer the other 4 (or even possibly take down the 2) and offer them to CAG's for "what I paid, shipping, and a little for my inconvenience." After this sort of reception? Hmm...
don't over react to my post-- just saying there's a difference between "hooking cags up" and buying 8 to sell for profit on Ebay. not saying you're a bad person-- just that when people say they are hooking cags up around here, it usually means they are selling them for cost + shipping + maybe gas money.

I didn't even object to your hoarding...it was more like a word of warning that other people are going to get on you for that post. I profit off of stuff too-- though my DS lite is a poor example (w/ 7 games for ~190.) I don't really mention my auctions in any other threads though(this thread is a great example of why.) Besides, that was different-- i didn't hoard DS lites, I just made a dumb impulse buy and wanted to recoup my losses the best way I know how -- because I knew no one on CAG would pay for an opened DS Lite for the same amount I paid (140) and I didn't want to wait, since the official release would make it even less valuable.

anyway, the ettiquette varies from person to person...some say you shouldn't get more than 1. people like me think that if it's there, you should grab a couple if you need the cash (being a college student, I always need more.) mostly, people don't brag about reselling on cag, though the auction and trading forums sometimes contradict that.
Weird. I just checked the status of my Sam Goody order and it says it has been shipped!
I checked because of your encouraging post.. mine says shipped too... weird though, I never got a procactive email indicating this.. Here's to hoping it shows up. If I truly bagged a $30 (incl shipping) copy of PW, I'm gonna be psyched!

Now lets hope overstock ships my DS lite not too far off of the release date.

If you have a driver's license, you have access. At least this is how it worked when I went on to Hunter.

That will get you onto the post, sure. In order to get into the PX, you need someone with a military ID to sign for you.

Been in the Army a while now, and it's been that way at every post I have been on. :)

Well, it's not like that here. Not since 1988, at least ;)

Its a good thing I heard about this new reprint. I was looking to resell my pheonix wright and I finally got up enough guts to do it. I suppose if I hadnt I would be twenty bucks shorter than I am.

I just found a copy, and I'm deciding whether to open it, or keep it sealed in case this reprint has something different about it.
Anyone who had their order shipped from Sam Goody, have you gotten your copy yet?
Nope, I still haven't got mine yet.

Is there any replay to this game?
I heard a lot about it but never really understood why you would go through a courtroom drama more then a few times. Looks good though.

Well my copy finally got here (bought it off eBay BTW) so tomorrow I get to finally play this fucking game. I'm psyched.
