Hey guys and gals! I want to start an RPG (maybe over this weekend). Which should I go with? Feel free to suggest something that is not on the poll, but please at least vote for something on there. I just can't decide.

Thanks!

EDIT: It's been a while since I played an RPG for an extended period of time.

I'm currently in the middle of the only console RPG I've ever played--Shadow Hearts: Covenant. Awesome game! Can't recommend it enough.

i voted for ffx just because its a good game and you havent played it still, but nocturne is a very good game as well, however they are very different... but go with ffx for now you should be able to wrap it up quick and then move on to nocturne
not suprising Xmen is getting zero votes. :D
You can finish this game in a few hours, it might be worth it to just play it and finish it to get it done, before you start a 40 hour + game.

I think X-Men clocks in at around 10 or so hours, can finish it in a few days.

X-Men can hardly be called a role playing game. It's more action. Plus it's pales in comparison to the other games listed. I mean FFX may be four years old but it still beats X-Men in graphics, sounds, just about everything.

I'd vote for FFX. While Nocturne is a great game-- it isn't an RPG in the Square-Enix sense of the word. The story is pretty loose, and there isn't a lot of intra-character relations-- its more about stat pushing and monster creating/capturing--- which is good, but maybe not what you're looking for.

Out of all those games, FFX is the only one I think that gives a cinematic, and well-developed story with characters you can love (Rikku, Auron, Wakka).

Plus the music in FFX is straight nasty.

Damn I want to play it again.

I hated FFX. And when I say hated, I mean it's my least favorite Final Fantasy, not that it's really a bad game. It's still better than most of the stuff that's come out in the last five years. I just remember forcing myself to play through it in about four days right before FFX-2 came out. At least half of those 36 hours were, dare I say, painful.
I suggest Star Ocean 3.

FFX, because it's an awesome game that must be played. Nocturne is great as well, but I don't recommend it to someone who hasn't played an RPG in a while. The game can be brutal.

Looks like FFX is starting to run away with it. I wasn't able to play anything over the weekend so I am gonna leave this poll open for the rest of the week. Thanks everyone!

I agree with everyone who's said Shadow Hearts, or more specifically Covenant. Such a great game. Of the choices listed, either FFX or SO3. But I'd recommend Covenant over either.

Yeah, I was actually going to put the first SH on there but forgot. I wonder if it'd be challenging FFX?

I voted FFx--I am currently replaying it again (last time was when it first came out). I am almost done (after 67 hours of game time) and really enjoyed it the second time through.

I think I enjoyed it more this time because I had more time away from it. I would play for three days (a couple hours at night) give it a day or 2 'off' to do something else, and then play it for a few more days.

Shadow Hearts Covenant is my pick... I tried playing the first one after beating it, and I really can't get into it for some reason

If you want to ever play the original, I suggest playing it before Covenant. Not cause Covenant spoils some important events in SH, but because Covenant is so much better than SH, that now I can't enjoy the original.

I also would go with SH:C. I'm playing it currently and really enjoy it. The characters and humor of the game are great and compliment the fun battle system well.

This is the easiest question ever.

This is like asking someone if they would rather have $1 or $100.

Final Fantasy X, despite the bad voices, is still a must have must play game.

Noctourne is my second choice.

La Pucelle is just a bitchy little girl who won't ever star in another game.

X-Men legends is not in the same league as the others, disregard it.

Star Ocean is a very good 2nd choice.

I say pick up FFX, Star Ocean, and maybe, just maybe get La Pucelle. All 3 can be found for $20 or less (used even cheaper!).

i voted nocturne, but FFX is something you should play eventually.

Just a note...I already have all of these....it's just a matter of which to play next.

karsh, thanks for the advice on Shadow Hearts. I had planned on playing the first one first, but all the glowing praise for Covenant could have made me leapfrog it for Covenant.

You'll see when you finally get to Covenant why it's praised over SH. I really dislike the way the Judgement Ring is in SH, where it's much nicer in Covenant. Also, I got spoiled by the talking of the characters, which happens a lot in Covenant, but not so much in SH. It's there, but nowhere near as prevelant. SH has some nice ideas, but Covenant takes all of those and improves them to such a degree that it makes it impossible (For me at least) to go back.

If you only started playing RPGs after FF7 came out, go ahead and follow the rest of the mindless lemmings and hit up FFX.

On the other hand, if you have a brain, I'd suggest Tactics, SO, or SMT.

I was going to say Nocturne before, but since you said this, I think FFX is a better choice for now.

 I actually think I will prefer SO or Nocturne, but I said I would play what the masses voted for so I started FFX over the weekend. I am only a little over an hour in (was really tired when I starting playing so I didn't get too far into it) and it's pretty good so far. The story so far has my interest. The battle system is what I expected. I prefer real time battles though but I will stick it out.

I restarted playing FFX, and the amount of customization you can do with a character is why I love it so much. I can't help the fact that FFX is a great game.

This is nice. I just finished Tales of Symphonia last night and was thinking about what game I should spend way too much time with next. I looked over my collection and I have FFX, SO3 and Nocturne plus I want to get Zelda:MC,Baten Kaitos and SH:C...whew! Might play Zelda next as a breather between 50+ hour epics, any thoughts?
