I heard a loud crash outside, went to investigate and it turns out my dog had cornered this little critter. After about an hour of poking and prodding we finally got him to leave.

I got some pics and I think most turned out decent. I haven't had time to edit any of these yet.
Odd that it didn't play dead. I know many of the bigger ones don't but it doesn't look huge.
he was moving around a fair amount at first, although when he got cornered he kinda tried to, lol but we were trying to push him out of the gate so instead he started baring his fangs and growling at us. I never knew those things could growl.

Oh they can, the big ones can be very very nasty. My dog cornered one once and that thing just was not going to be messed with, hudge one too. Came back a couple weeks later, the dog wised up and took it out.

Yeah I was actually kinda worried about my dog, we put him inside and dealt with the possum ourselves.I was afraid he was going to get too close or try and play with the possum and then get bit. I saw that sucker bare his fangs and they looked like they would be painful.

Luckily he decided to get himself cornered about 1 foot from our backyard gate so eventually we just kinda pushed him out front with a big broom.

See that's exactly what we did, but the thing came back a few weeks later and well my dog is a decent size and took it out. Sharp teeth don't do much good then a dog 5 times your size has got you buy the neck.

No matter how big thier teeth are, they are usually too slow to bit. I once had a rather big one that got in my trash can. I should have just called some neighbors over, cuase in the south they eat thouse things.

Yeah, my dog cornered one once too. My dog acts real tough, but I have a feeling it's all show lol. He is probably a whimp inside. Anyway, he cornered this possum who started hissing and showing its huge teeth, so I put my dog inside (afraid that his overconfident cocky self would try to attack the possum and get hurt) and chased the possum off with a paintball gun.

Hell...one of them comes up every night and eats catfood along side my cats on the back porch..not afraid of me or the cats..
Ok, do they really eat possum in the south? I though it was one of those redneck stereotypes, but I can't really tell if you guys are serious or not.
Yes, they do eat possum. Also, they eat Raccons, Squirrels, Snakes, and other smaller creatures that walk around in woods. I know this because most of my family lives in Tennessee and Mississippi and some of my older relatives have shown me how they would cook and eat these animals.

Wow, I never knew that stereotype was true. The only one I knew people in the u.s. ate was snake (primarily because my grandfather was from missouri and he said he had it a few times). Makes me wonder what else is true. In the northeast, the mention of eating a possum or squirrel evokes images of trailer parks with with residents who marry family members. Cletus on the simpsons is basically the image people get. I think the squirrel thing is a little more disgusting to me though, since one of my friends has a squirrel as a pet. He found an abandoned baby, raised it and kept it since it was so time it didn't run away when they tried to release it.

A few summers ago i was outside barbequeing and i heard this someone screaming so walk around to the front of my house and i see this lady who looked like she was jogging and screaming but as soon as she passed my house i noticed there was this oppossum chasing her, it was hilarious.

Heh, humans are funny. We're 20x+ the size of them, and we can't do anything unless we got a gun.

haha yeah, the funniest part of it all way is that oppussums aren't very fast and this lady could not get away from it.
