Pinball Arcade

Sinistar

CAGiversary!
Did anyone pick this up yet? Been playing the android version (demo) and I see the PSN version is $9.99 with some tables.
I really want to get the Creature From the Black Lagoon table. Does anyone know if its gonna be part of the update included as part of the PS3 version or will it be extra cost/DLC?

The PSN version is great. Buy it for PS3, get it for vita. Tables look great. The game comes with 4 tables for $10. They release table updates for $5, which gives you 2 new tables. They've released two add ons so far with another on the way soon. I would highly recommend it.

So the Creature From the Black Lagoon is in one of the updates, so I'l have to pay $15 essentially if I just want to play that one table on PS3?

That's a fact, but I don't think you'll want to stop there.

It's funny.. if you can find a copy of Pinball Williams Collection on disc at a decent price, get it. Same developers but the disc has 13 tables on it. Just a couple of years ago it was selling for $10 at Gamestop and now the prices have skyrocketed to $40 ~ $50 for a used copy. Only 15 trophies on disc and not even a platinum, but it is a very easy game to get to 100%.

Easy AND enjoyable. It didnt have a platinum, and it should have, but it was one of the most fun I had playing an "easy" game. Too many of the easy trophy games are boring beyond belief, that game was the best of both worlds.

The tables for ps3/vita look and play great (with only a few issues like flipper lag and strange ball physics near the left paddle) and the wizards goals are damn challenging making the trophy hunt really hard.

It was a real disappointment to see that the DLC tables didnt have new trophies...

I guess I'm bringing this back up from the dead. I'm a refugee from the 360 version of TPA and have been playing the base 4 tables, and am seriously considering switching due to the publishing problems on the 360. The season 1 pack helps (though I wish they'd bring a season pass for season 2 over, like they have on iOS).

I'm wondering how many other "refugees" there are. Have you bought the season 1 pack?

Resurrecting again. I did buy season 1. I'm holding off on the season 2 pass (which is available now) as we are a bit short on funds. Will get it eventually. TZ and ST:TNG are both pretty sweet. Great job on those by Farsight. Cirqus Voltaire looks way too dark. It doesn't look that way on iPad. I hope they'll update it to make it better lit. Otherwise all the games I've tried so far look great and play well.

There have been complaints about lag in this version of the game, but I don't see any. Perhaps the 2 stage flippers are what is appearing  to be lag for some. Not really lag, though. It would be nice if you could turn off 2 stage flippers, but it's not a deal killer. I've gotten use to it.

There is a kickstarter for Terminator 2. I pledged even though I'll get the season pass at some point. I want to see this game made for PA! Such a fun game! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1067367405/pinball-arcade-terminator-2-judgment-day

Any recommendations for tables?

I haven't played this, but I REALLY enjoy Zen Pinball 2 on PSN--has anyone tried both?  I'm just wondering how Pinball Arcade compares to Zen.

Zen Pinball has Marvel and Star Wars tables and I highly recommend Sorcerer's Lair and Epic Quest.

I have both Zen and PA for PS3 and Vita, plus Zen on 360. PA is essentially an emulator of the real tables so there are moments where the engine slows down a few frames/second when the ball is moving quickly, but overall it's pretty solid. Gameplay is more realistic on PA compared to Zen, which I've found to be very forgiving with ball speed and a smaller flipper gap on a majority of tables that I own.

PA tables I would recommend that aren't part of the core pack are Eliva and the Party Monsters and Bride of Pinbot; unfortunately they're in separate DLC packs but you'll get a few other decent ones along with them (Medieval Madness and No Good Gofers).

I came into a small gamestop credit windfall thanks to an old Jasper 360 AC adapter (and Forza 4), so I picked up a $50 PSN card and bought the Season 2 Pro pass. Going to download all the tables up through table pack 14 tonight.

How does the season pass work once the next table pack is out? Will it automatically download or will I have to find the table pack in the store and then download it there, or does it get into my download list, but not in the download queue? Or something else?

As for which machines to download, that's such a personal thing that it's hard to say. I say buy them all, but I'm a (real) pinball nut. :)
