Pinball Machine for $99.99 at Sears B&M was $350

CAGiversary!
I know this is not a video game but, Sears B & M has marked down their Pirates of the Caribbean 2 Arcade Pinball machines that were $349.99 to $99.99 at two Sears Stores that I have been to so this is likely nation wide.
They are near the exercise equiment and camping sections. Near the foosball tables and other game tables. I bought one and find it a good deal for $99.99.
Here is a link to the Amazons page on the machine

Pinball is in the video game category. If i have room in the basement, i seriously considering this one, oh, plus how the heck i bring it home? I don't have a SUV or minivan... Thanks op though.

The size is actually not that big. I think that you can take it in a regular car. Isn't this the same one they sell at Best Buy? I tried it there and it did indeed look pretty weak.
On a side bar, I saw at Target today the Golden Tee '97 arcade machine marked down from $399 to $50.

Ok, I've played this thing (and have a real pinball machine in the basement) and can tell you this thing is a pretty far cry from a real pinball machine. It's quite small, feels flimsy, and (despite a very well designed playfield) it's not much fun at all. The "trick" in this machine is that they use real solenoids (like in real pinball machines) so the flippers have the right "pop" -- unfortunately they use super weak solenoids and a smaller ball (because so much of the playfield is plastic they don't want the ball to destroy everything). Also the flipper distance appears to be standard while the ball is smaller meaning it's easier to drain (and quite frustrating). The play is weak and limp at best.

That said, it's leaps and bounds above the other entries at the "home pinball" market (e.g., those completely plastic POS models) and I have to admit I'm considering picking one up for my office at this price...

Yeah i've seen these at Best Buy, super small in size and cheap looking, NOT worth 350 bucks in the slightest, 99 bucks might be okay if you really want a low cost pinball or are really into Pirates. Thanks for the post OP!!!

I don't see a problem with it being posted here, since the videogames we play today originated from and wouldn't have existed without pinball games.

It's pretty cheap, the physics are completely different from a regulation table, the playfield leads to a lot of gutterballs and RDTMs, and the sounds are a generic dude doing a bad pirate impersonation - no voice samples from Depp, Bloom, or any other cast members.

yeah, it's a total pile of crap. The physics of it being sturdy are not there. very cheaply made, pretty much what near everyone has been saying. I can see why they want to get rid of it.

It's made by Zizzle. The same company that was making POTC toys. I would expect this to be a slightly bigger version of those tapletop pinball machines that TRU sells.

I have to say, having a pinball machine in your home is one of the coolest things ever.

My dream is to have a game-room with a nice card table for cards and board games, a pool table, ping pong table, pinball machine, and a bigass television with the latest console.

Arg, was hoping this was 'real'. I'm with PyroGamer: Some day I want pinball machines and arcade games. I've always imagined the first game would be TMNT, or maybe the Simpsons.

So it's the small unstable one? Snapz.

Oh well... I guess asking for an arcade regulation one for 100 is pushing it.

WOW! Now I'm going to have to go by my Target tonight and see if they have one. For $50 I'm more than willing to jump on this. Which Target location did you see this at?

Nephilim, I believe he's talking about the bigger one.

I'd jump on that Golden Tee, not because of the game itself, because of the cabinet it comes in. Sure you could build a custom one with lots of time and energy, but if this thing actually complies to JAMMA standards all you'd need to do is replace the controls, change the artwork, ,and you have yourself an arcade cabinet for 50 bucks and some change. Worst case scenario is that it isn't JAMMA (I haven't looked into this particular machine) and you build yourself a custom M.A.M.E. machine.

no Golden Tee arcades machines

$99 dollars is the price I came accross everywhere.
So they had them, but were OOS?

Just checked, Evansville, IN Target didn't have any trace of them.

most stores said they had them but they got clearaned 2 weeks ago so this would be a real long shot. I stopped calling after I ran out of people that I knew in other states.

Bah! Okay, thanks for letting me know.

It looked like the first one (real arcade machine) but it is made by Midway. I bought the first arcade machine they had a while back and it was okay but not my favorite thing ever. It's like 5 feet tall.

I saw this at the new Target in downtown Miami, FL on 36th St. in one of the front caps by the electronic's department.

You saw this top machine for $50 and did not buy it? Hmm. My Target has never carried this unit and target.com says online only for this item.

Even if it is crappy, $50 is a great deal.

I'm with you on that one! Except add a foosball table to the mix too.

I've coveted a pinball machine for the longest time, but I don't really have a place to put it. My closet is decent size, but then I'd have to figure out where to put my teddy bear collection.

I've had a Twilight Zone pinball machine for about 9 years. I gotta say people love playing it. I dont know if I would recommend it for the people who are anal about having perfect condition stuff because:

- if something breaks they are a pain in the ass and expensive to fix. I once had an issue that the best pinball tech around could not fix. I finally after a year of looking found a tiny metal ball catch that was bent a bit and touching another metal part. I bent it back in 3 seconds and the problem was gone.

- there is a million little ass-wipe parts that need to cleaned and/or replaced like flipper parts, troughs, swithches, ball catches, etc

- You could spend twice as much as you paid just buying new parts like: siderails, legs, game-specific parts, new balls, new rubber rings, new solenoids, on and on.

It is really a nice machine, but I crinch everytime someone says they think something is wrong with it (they are usually wrong).
i remember getting a JP pinball for 300 bucks at an arcade that was closing down back in 1999. best 300 i ever blew
Holy crap! You talking about the one for the first movie that had the rex head that moved up in one of the corners?!? I'd KILL for that table!

I saw that Pirates pinball game at Best Buy too. I love pinball and want a machine for my house some day. This thing felt like a cheap pile of crap from my one game playing it. I was afraid I was going to break it just during normal play. To each their own though, I suppose

The Pirates machine is lame...save your $100 and keep your eye out on Craig's List, garage sales, and auctions. Real pinball machines can occasionally be had in that price range. Real arcade machines are a dime a dozen in the $50-100 price range.

That said, the least I've ever paid for a pinball machine is $500 as I'm fairly picky about what I put in my house. This was for a 1979 Star Trek machine that some guy had in his basement near Cleveland. The most I paid was $3000 for a mint Stern Playboy machine from another collector near Indianapolis.

Lol, I've seen the POTC2 pinball machine before, it really looked cheap, a sheet of laminated paper set over some LEDs with wobbly supports. I wouldn't go for it at any price!

Just curious, but Best Buy is selling the POTC2 pinball for $169.99 locally. Think I could get them to price match or would this cross into the "clearance items" gray area?

Best Buy will price match non-advertised prices...

They must look it up online (sometimes printouts from home work as well) or they call the "local" competitor(s). SOMETIMES the call works if the BB employee is good at it. though maybe I've just been lucky. once price matched a clearance game from TRU, took 3 calls and 20+ minutes and got the game for $10. The BB guy was super cool about it.

I have to agree. I hope to one day have a basement and a few pinball machines. One of my co-workers has about 15 pinball machines in his basement. We had a blast playing over there. The problem is that machines don't drop much in price. So it's expensive to have them. That said, I wouldn't want to invest money in anything but the real thing.

Anyone here have a MAME machine? I reallllly want to build one (along with get a few original arcade machines). 4 joysticks, a trackball, and some ports for usb->console controllers, and it would be the coolest thing ever. I think I mostly enjoy the novelty of it :D
