2 optical inputs? Hells Yeah. Looks like this just jumped to the top of my Christmas wishlist. I will be sitting pretty with surround sound come the New Year....

My only dilemna....Would it be a mortal sin to hook a PS3 up to a 360 branded product? Hmmmmm

The speakers are those 4 individual speakers or are the front and rear speakers mounted together?

They're individual, but you can mount them like that for a simulated surround effect instead of running them behind you.

I succumbed to temptation on these a few weeks ago at CC for $300 after the price dropped from $400. I can't believe the price would drop again so soon... I should have waited. The holiday spending this year is killing me :whistle2:(

I'm pretty sure you can hook them up to anything like arthurRWD says, but it's really designed to go with the 360 (aesthetically and the remote has buttons to control the 360 on it). I'm sure it doesn't compare to a more expensive home theater setup, but the price and size were just right for me. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I've been satisfied with the volume and sound quality that it's capable of. Compared to plain old TV speakers, it was quite an improvement :D

Couple o' reviews I saw when I was buying: cnet, CC user reviews
hey i just called my cc and they pricematch on the internet and use that 40 dolar coupen would be awesome
SWEET.....

Well considering it's a B&M store anyways, and they are EVERYWHERE, I suspect they would PM.

However, careful about the PM. The Rebate coupon says "Authorized Dealer Only", but it doesn't say WHAT is an authorized dealer. I would call and make sure that Circuit City is an Authorized Dealer.

Is this the best value I'm going to find for my money on a sound system that will be used primarly for my 360? I'm in the market for one so I'm very tempted to bite.

They'll price match the price, but good luck having them price-match the $50 rebate...

Also, I lol'ed at the picture. They obviously photo-shopped the 360 in, and they did a horrible job at it. Good job Walmart online team!

tempted for the DTS decoding =/.

are you guys talking about Pricematching to Circuit City B&M to the Walmart.com site? or a walmart ad?
good luck having them price-match the $50 rebate...
I don't think you know what you're talking about.

This would come to $135.66 with pricematch 10%/ $40 coupon /$50 pioneer rebate at CC. (6% sales tax included)

Problem is I'm saving up for an HDTV.

I could have sworn they only do the 110% price match if you buy it from them first, THEN price match it afterwards, unless that's what you meant.

The rebate is from the manufacturer and not linked to Walmart at all? Because a lot of rebates (ie Kingston rebates at Buy.com) are linked to both the manufacturer and the retailer. Even though the rebate is handled by the manufacturer, they require that you shop at a particular retailer.

If this rebate is good anywhere...then that's a hell of a deal!

YMMV on getting CC to pricematch this. I got flat turned down at the register on this one. Still a good deal from Wal-mart though, but a bummer I couldn't use the CC $40 off coupon. I still may get in on this one.

Yes, this would be by far BETTER than anything Logitech makes.

Trust me, a dedicated receiver, even HTIB types like this one, has many more advantages than just "speakers" the way Logitech makes them

This looks like a decent adaptation of their entry level receivers and the speakers can not be that bad...they have to be as "good" or better than their entry level speakers..

Then again, I'd suggest you go to Circuit City and put the money into a decent open box 5.1 receiver, start out with two nice stereo speakers, and build up from there.

It is linked to Wal-Mart, yes, but that doesn't enter into my point.

The point is CC wouldn't "pricematch" a rebate. Whatever you need "good luck" for would to get Pioneer to accept the rebate. And as it's been posted, CC is apparently an authorized reseller, and as such apply to this rebate.

Hell of a deal indeed, if you can get CC to pricematch the thing at all.

As tempting as the offer may be (insanely cheap!!) from the sources I've read reviews from it sounds like this system is rather sup-bar especially considering its beefy specs.

I was looking to get a good 5.1 surround sound system upgrading from my older midiland 8200 (which are still great by the way!) to the spherex 5.1 surround sound system (the one made for xbox) and its a really a fantastic system!! Highly reccomend it over this pioneer system

Heres the review for the pioneer system on cnet

yeah I just saw that review. If you want a system the logitech wireless ones are pretty badass.

I'm suprised pioneer would release such a subpar set of speakers.

keep in mind they are reviewing that set against others in it's (then) $499.99 price range. Of course, for $500 you could buy much better than the pioneer. But, for the $210 I paid (waiting on MIR), I say it's a GREAT system with few drawbacks.

dont waste your time on this system. its cheap for a reason...if anything go for the spherex system.
Either way, HTIB's are pretty weak.

This is a good sytem, especially for the price. If you're in the market for a surround sound setup, this is definitely not a bad option. It decodes whatever you need it to and Pioneer's speakers and receiers are pretty good.

I'd jump on this myself, but I'm looking at picking up a 5.1 system from Paradigm.

My dad has the paradigm floor speakers that were like $700 for tha pair and wow. Combine that with awesome rears, a sweet boston acoustics center channel, and a $500 Denon reciever and that is real surround sound.

Yep, they're pretty damn impressive. I'm not getting floorstanding speakers, but I am pairing the 5.1 speakers I do get with an $800 Denon receiver (before discounts, of course.) Definitely not cheap-ass by any means, but I'm a firm believer that if you're going to do something like this, you should do it right.
