Sorry for the long thread title - credit should go to FriskyTanuki for posting this in the game's thread in the PSP forum.

Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe is coming to the PSP on 4/27/10 on UMD. It will include both PJM and Encore. Sony says it will retail at $19.99, same as the digital one, however at both Amazon and Gamestop the game is currently $9.99 to preorder.

I'm not sure why, but I encourage everyone who is interested to lock down your $9.99 preorder now - Amazon will honor it if the price goes back up.

This is one of the few PSP games I love. I bought it as a dl from the PSN store and it was worth every penny, its so addicting.
 
It looks like its $10 for the UMD version of the game. Amazon says its available on April 27, which is probably why its not available in store at GS.
 
Nice! I like this game a lot on my PS3, I wouldn't mind have the PSP version as well for on the go. I was able to get this for free with a $10 credit I had from Amazon from my Monster Hunter Tri preorder which I thought was weird I received so soon since the game isn't even out yet.
 
This is why I bought a PSP-3000 instead of a PSPGO. I wanted this a couple of months ago but figured I would hold out for a deal, I'd rather have a UMD than somthing that can only be downloaded and never sold/traded.

um, Sony has PSN sales quite often, not sure where you've been. Just look at the current Spring fever sale going on for weeks now (and weeks to come), and the Capcom sale right before that.

Indeed. PSN sales are quite frequent (and awesome).

This is a killer deal, by the way. If you own a PSP, you owe it to yourself to grab this. I own the PS3 game and the PSN download for the PSP. I'm half-tempted to order the UMD, just to support the devs. Unfortunately, this game was heavily pirates, which lead to the devs reconsidering their PSP strategy.

Hopefully, the PSP version sells enough to warrant the release of other PixelJunk games in the future.

PJ Monsters has not been on sale as far as I know since it released. I may have missed a sale, but I've been checking frequently, as I really want this game, but I don't want to pay MSRP.

PSN may have sales quite often, but I haven't seen them. They don't seem to be as advertised as XBLA sales. Maybe I just don't look hard enough, I don't know. I don't have a PS3 yet, so I have a feeling that's where most of the sales are, not with PSP stuff.
 
After doing the research and realizing that this is the definitive version of the game, with extra content, I've decided to go in for one. Thanks OP!

I believe PJM was on sale a while back (but not PJM Deluxe) ... but the easiest way to find the sales on the PS Store is to go into the "New Releases" category and there's usually one option labeled "Special Offers" or "Deals" or "Spring Fever" or something to that effect. If select that one it'll take you to a list of all sales they're currently doing (including a category for PSP games).

To add to that, PSN updates their store every Thursday evening. Just last week they had the digital downloads of LocoRoco 2 and Patapon 2 drop to $7.99 so there are deals for PSP games normally every week. Just a matter if it is on something you want or not.

They post all their sales on their blog, as well as in the Specials section in the PSN store. They also highlight their sales on the front page of the PS3 PSN store.

Wait I just read the last part, you don't even have a PS3 yet? Well no wonder. You can't just generally say Sony sucks for PSN sales when you're referring to the PSP. The PS3's PSN store is far superior to what's on the PSP, and games go on sale more frequently.

That makes sense. This thread was about a PSP game, so I didn't qualify my statement, but their PSP sales (from what I've seen, I don't do much but check the store on my psp every so often and check CAG) leave a lot to be desired.

Glad to see this game on UMD, though. More options for the consumer means more opportunity for sales. And I've been waiting on this one. Hope they release on UMD and DD in the future, I like having the physical disks/carts.

Nope, it's a UMD release. The PSN version has been available for almost six months now and the UMD release was confirmed a month or so ago on various sites and blogs. The game is supposed to be $20, but GS made a pricing error on their site and Amazon just matched it. It will be interesting to see how long the $10 price lasts.

wonder why it says PSN network game... Might pick it up tomorrow via amazon with another few games to push it above 25...

Nice. Haven't played my PSP in, oh, probably more than a year (and then, I played an NES emulator, not an actual PSP game), but I have to get in on this. I liked the PS3 version, but just couldn't put much time into it.
 
Didn't the head of the dev team confirm on twitter that the game is coming out at $10? The shipping killed it for me but for $10 I don't mind making a run to the store.

Just placed my preorder! I'm actually running kind of low on portable games. Might have as few as 10 unplayed :hot: :lol:
 
Hm. If this is going to be retail, maybe I should cancel my pre-order and wait until amazon drops the price a bit.

Edit: Nah. I've been waiting too long for this price to come down. Plus it's physical media. I'll keep my pre-order.

Just because you don't pay attention, it doesn't mean there aren't sales. There are a bunch of things that are on sale each week and there's a dedicated part of the store for sale items. They actually allow for price drops, which are extremely rare on XBLA.

Yeah man, it's $10 bucks for a ton of content and online play.
It did badly as a digital download and was pirated to hell and back.

It deserves the sale. ;)
