Also, if I get the codes and then I get an ipad in a couple months (after the promotion) will I still be able to use the code for a free download? Anyone know?

Codes expire on 7/20/13. But you don't need to actually have an iPad in order to redeem the HD Version. Simply open up iTunes, and redeem it or click the code that IGN generates for you to auto redeem it.
