These are the only real game price changes, also the PNT price tends to be a little less than standard retail, so a game might be $29.79 instead of $29.99... i just didn't feel like typing that out for every title. Also it is up to the store to price it, these are just suggested by corporate.

I will try to do this daily for you guys. If you wish to find your closes PNT store check the store locater at www.playntrade.com

XB360 Viva Pinata Party Animal - $27.90

Soul Calibur IV 11/12/08 - Release Date, so while the new pictures look cool... we got a long ways off.

Also Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed till March.

As far as new stores, as with any new store, typically the staff is not trained and they don't know the flow. It takes them a while to learn the business too, alot of the owners don't really have proper retail/sales experience so this is all new to them. They are told to ask questions but doesn't have to be specific, more general to make suggestions. So if you say you like Halo, they might recommend Call of Duty because it is a good FPS.

The Yobo stuff, at first I thought the same thing. Can they hire someone to do basic graphic design for them? Heck, I would do it for free. But the products are actually very good. Its just they don't have a good presentation. We are workin g with them on official branded PNT controllers and a NES/SNES system. They are also planning more products that basically cost less. They only have PS2 Controllers so far but plan to expand. I wouldn't be suprised if we see a Guitar Hero controller. PS2 is still a big market for used products.

The bundle he was refering to is called a Pak N Play and is a usefull selling tool. Problem is people take it too litteral. What it is basically is a bundle with a discount. You don't just offer it, you can have a version advertised, but really you want to talk to the customer and know what they need. Then you can make one in your head, like say you have 4 kids and your buying a gamecube. Make a pak n play in your head, 4 controllers, a game for each one to pick out, memory card, etc... with a 10% discount on the games and controllers.

Most stores don't use it correctly though which sucks, you can really add units and dollars to the transaction but also give the customer a better value.

hey thanks for the continuous updates! i don't mean to be picky but would you mind compiling them in the original post as you go along? easier to just look in the first post for the update than go through the thread :D

Sure no problem. I will start that with any price changes I see next.

be nice to see one open up here in fort wayne but it will never happen. There are way too many here now ( i think)

how is this company ran?

do you have a flat trade fee or is it based on the games

example

1 store here (mcvans BLEH!!!!) based on level trading meaning trade a red dot for another red dot = 7 bucks flat trade

around 5 to 8 stores here ..... they take your game and give you so much off another game

trade FF v gba for FF 6. they might give you 10 bucks for FF 5 and then sell you FF 6 for 24.99 or 15 after trade

if i had the cash and guts i would love to open up a game store, but right now i doubt it would be very smart. Hell even in summer time when we have our yard sales we have a hell of a time selling video games.

a worker mcvans has even admitted that the sales have dropped 70% in the last 3 years and that 90 to 95% of the cash comes in NOV 1 to Dec 31 and if they would ever have a bad xmas they would be forced to close... Just walk into a mcvans these days and you will see the same games just sitting on the walls day after day.

5 years ago they might had 20 to 30 game turnover in a week that same worker said some weeks they might have 1 to 2 game turnover.

they dont even advertise mcvans anymore that is how bad they are hurting for cash. its just pure word of mouth and its all bad meaning less business for them

love to see another mcvans (trading type) store move into the area. i dont see why every store takes the We give you 40% credit then you buy our game at full price way

Yeah, I can understand that. Also he didn't have the flyer for the Pak N Play for the PS3(he had all the others) So he told me if I put one together he said he would take a % off, i don't remeber exactly but it was from 10-20%.

I plan on going back it was just a overall "weird" expereince.

Sorry I don't know what McVans is.

I think your question about how is it run is a little too broad.

As far as trade in value, it depends on the games. There is not a flat rate for games. There is another thread that goes more into detail with what PNT is about and my experience so far.

As far as their business... during training, they say the thing alot of stores do when they are on a downward trend is reduce staff and stop advertising, which is not exactly what you want to do. Adverstising needs to be done all the time and there are various ways to do it at a low cost. But thing is repedition is the key and doing something over time will help.

Hope that helps you a little.

Yeah, it happens especially with new stores. I had a similar experience because I was the store's in the states first customer because I wanted to see the store first hand and I wasn't impressed and thought many negative things but that changes over time and will continue, just takes time especially because it is a franchise.
Nice thread especially with the release date changes.
Thanks, weird thing was this year was showing alot of games coming out early to summer time getting pushed to the holiday season.

Hmm I just drove by a Play N Trade on Highway 6 in Houston today. They had a custom Scion XB with Gears of War all over it, haha. Didn't get a chance to stop in though...

thanks. something like that would never fly here in fort wayne since we have at least 4 to 6 stores sit up this way, that is if you dont count the eb/gamestops. blockbuster gamecrazyes

Thanks for the updates.

Man, I cannot believe these delays, I was really looking forward to Mercs 2 in the next couple months and now it's more tha 6 months out again. Wasn't it supposed to be 11/07 originally?

Yeah but then again, I would rather have a game come out complete then not. There are plenty of games to tide you over till the end of the year from LAST year, imagine the stack your going to have. Hopefully it will mean an improved online mode and other features.

whats with the TRU online and the Play n' Trade Vision Live kit dropping to sub-40 within days of each other. Getting discountinued or what!??!

Or it could just be complete chance.

Possible that there might be a new "sku" possibly a package deal especially with Burnout Paradise going to be using it. Maybe they will give Uno with it.

Hey bingbangboom, can you go back to putting the price updates in replies please? Your OP is getting updated, but it's not getting bumped back up because all you're doing is editing and updating the OP. Either that, or bump the thread saying you updated the OP when you do so. Thanks.

Oh, i thought i did... lol i will just bump

I went to the Play N Trade on Highway 6 in Houston a few times and maybe it was just this particular store, but I was not impressed at all.

The first time I went there it was just to check out the place. Which at the time seemed nice. Console kiosk on side for free play looked at bit unfinished. I went through there used sections and found that several used games had new prices on them. Two weeks later and the same games are still priced incorrectly. You would think instead of playing the console kiosks the employees would correctly price their items. This shouldn't be hard seeing that they have a 1/3 of the games GameStop has.

This time my friend wanted to trade in some games. He ended up buying a game with the credit and asking to reserve a copy of Devil May Cry 4 for the 360. The sales rep, if he even actually worked there (I couldn't tell because he was playing one of the kiosks and wasn't in any kind of uniform, if they even have uniforms) was trying to get out of having to figure out how to do a reserve by saying "This won't sell out, ya know". At the same time what looked to be an employee and another person walked right into the back.

Overall it just seemed to be very unorganized and unprofessional. I'm hoping this was just this particular store. Their prices on some of the retro games are pretty good. And the fact that they can repair consoles (Im unaware of which) is awesome.

Man that sucks about your experience. I know the one in Charlotte, NC is awesome. Every time I go in they're always asking if I'm looking for anything. They don't try to push reserves or trade ins like Gamestop. I go in there once ever 2-3 weeks looking for newly added SNES, NES, and Dreamcast games.

Sorry to hear about your experience but that is not the standard PNT sets. Again, I always recommend talking to the owner because sometimes they don't know what is going on. I can sort of understand the first visit, but after 3 weeks, should not be like that.

I went to the local one and it was alright. They get raped in the ass by Gamestop on current and even last gen stuff, but their classic display case was pretty cool. Prices are eBayish but not something I can knock a franchise store for. I wasn't too enthralled by the fact that they more than likely gutted the new games for last gen systems but oh well.

It really depends on how long the store has been opened. Typically a store needs around 2 months to build up inventory, new and used. As far as gutting games, its pretty much standard in the industry, no matter where you go. Now I will tell you the overwhelming majority don't really care. The problem is that you can't really keep a sealed copy on the shelf because it will go away with a five fingered discount.

I know that while working at Toys R Us, we got shipments of dummy shell cased games. Most people though wouldn't care much unless you need a sealed copy. I will tell you also that the games are basically like new because it is stored securely. Also your going to be seeing fewer and fewer new games for older systems other than PS2, so its only really the Next Gen and handheld games that have this issue. I know some people have had issues with a new game being played and sold as new because you can try every game. Again, it is something you have to give into because of the overall benefit to everyone to try a game before they buy them. So while you may be mad because the last copy of Devil May Cry 4 is in the console being tested... it means you can try it out too. Or if there was another game that you were on the fence about and got the chance to try it but didn't like it, you may have saved yourself $60 or more.

Bump for new price drops? :/ I love my PNT and they love me, but I don't want to bug them about price drops.

Glad to see a date on the Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii.

One question though. There is going to be a PSP God Of War Limited ED (Red slim, etc) do you have a release date with that?

PSPfanboy has May, IGN March, Gamespot, June....its jumping everywhere just want to get a exact date.

Oh god I hate our PnT in Madison. Your example is one of the reasons why. fucking spams craigslist whenever somebody trades them in Battletoads or Boogerman or any piece of shit. Such trash.

yeah, I should be a better craigslister and mark their spam. Other than that, I've found their prices to be not so different as to warrant the drive down university (vs. walking around the block to eb on state.)

My PNT has Battletoads. :)

The idea of posting on Craigslist is horrible tho, they must have bad business...every PNT is different.

I like their price on Used Blu-rays. They charge $9.79, with their discount card, Costs $10-10% off Used-10% Trade in(10-10-10), Final price is $8.80 Not bad for Blu-rays, I have only got 2 movie from them so far but I asked the owner if he could add me to the "special order" list for any Used BR's that come in. The movies I got so far are "50 first dates" and "American Psycho."

ALso picked up MGS2:SOL for $2.99 and MGS1 for $4.99(idk why the first was more, maybe harder to find?)

I tried doing this via email after being very upset at them following the gamestop model by selling opened games as new with horrible stickers on the front and back that dont come off cleanly or easily. He sent me a "kindly" written email basically telling me, in so many words, that he didnt appreciate being told how to run his business. I havent been back since.

Sorry I havn't been keeping up with the price changes, just most of them have been eh... plus I have been very busy with work and working on getting the store up and running.

I can keep doing it if people want it, wasn't sure there was still interest.

Sorry to hear about your experience with the owner that you emailed. Again, I have no control over them, but as a owner or manager, most people want to get feedback, both positive and negative.

When I get the site up and running I will post price drops on there also. Another issue is I get emails from vendors that are classified, so I can't really announce a price drop until there is actually a price drop cause I don't want to cause any trouble.

still interest here (on price drop notices)

I wasn't impressed with my local Play N Trades. The store was really dirty (roaches!), and the employees were more interested in inviting their friends over to play Gears of War and Rock Band on the demo stations. Also, I've seen some shady prices on a few titles, FuruFuru Park for $50(!) and a GHIII Wii bundle for $120, from what I remembered.

Glad to hear that isn't the case at all stores though.

what i would like out of play n trade....

is for the employee's to actually put rare games on the shelf instead of paying $15 dollars trade in credit and keeping them for themselves. i spoke with an employee there and they just buy the games for the trade in value :|

can i get a chance to grab a rare old game for a change? sheesh....

Yeah, I know that they are putting an effort to do what is basically a mystery shop but for the brand to make sure stores are doing what they need to do correctly. So hopefully that will put certain stores into shape.

Yes, I am interested and appreciate you updating the prices. I have a local store that I like to stop in and look around every week or so.

Thanks
