I recently just got a PS3 EYE Camera and I thought it was pretty darn cool. The build quality is nice and the overall functionality seems pretty good. It seems much better than the 360 camera. I like the built in microphone also....that is a nice addition.

I played around with EyeCreate for a few minutes, got a cool video of my daughter looking at the thing...pretty funny.

As for the games on PSN, anyone buy any yet? Any of them worth it? I know some are like Interactive screensavers, but that may be cool for backgrounds or something.

Any opinions?

I got :whistle2:

Aquatopia - Interactive fish tank. Put it on for the kids every now and again.

Mesmerize - Interactive tech demo. Put it on for the kids every now and again.

Trials of Topoq - An actual game! But it's not that great. You use movement, generally your hand to guide a ball through the mazes. I must have played an hour or two and not touched it since.

I really like my PSEye, but they seriously need to come up with more stuff that uses it. Either in retail games like in Burnout, or more PSN games.

It looks OK. The fish swim in and out and if you move you hand slowly they will follow it, and shake it fast and they swim away.

It's OK to just have. Probably worth 2 bucks I guess.

There was a demo a while back they showed on video for the PS3 Eye where they put it over a piece of white paper and drew shapes. Whatever shape they drew would become an object on the screen that could be manipulated and moved around. I would like to see them come out with something using this technique.

Here's a few examples of what I was talking about...

I'm looking to get one of these used from Gamestop. I was wondering if there's a utility/installation disc I should look out for. I would think it's just plug and play with any drivers being downloadable, but you never know.

Thanks for any info.

I don't know why they don't make ports of all the old EYE TOY games and put them on the PSN.

The EyePet will be huge if its marketed well.

Anyway, I have Trials of Topoq, pretty disappointing, and Tori-Emaki, which is pretty, but is just a glorified screen saver. I've played around with EyeCreate, but I wish I could send video clips as messages. I owned Eye of Judgement briefly, but it was more frustrating to play than fun.

Making stickers in LBP is fun.

Overall, I think this peripheral is sadly underutilized and disappointing so far.

No install disk required. If you are looking for one cheap - do what i did.

Eye of Judgement has hit clearance price at Target (about 35 bucks if you can find it), and it is univerally priced at 30 dollars at Wal-mart.

The camera retails for 40- so I saved 10 bucks and got a deck of cards, a game, and a camera stand.

As far as games go- i liked Trials of Topoc, and the one with the weird monster creatures. They were fun.. The others were a complete waste of time if you aren't interested in eye candy.

I was hoping to get it as part of GS's B2G1 sale which makes it about 14.99 after EDGE. I really have no interest in EOJ and am too lazy to sell it. I realize that some have been able to sell the game and then the cards to actually make it profitable, but again . . . lazy.

Unfortunately, it looks like the extension of the sale excludes accessories . . .

Thanks for the info, though! I'm looking forward to Eyepet, though I'll wait for reviews. Video is a little too good to be true.

The best use I've found for it (next to SingStar) it taunting my buddy after I beat him in Madden again and again and again . . .

The Eye comes in handy for Burnout Paradise, as well. You can take your license photo with it, and send mugshots and smugshots during online races. :)

does it have any zoom feature when doing that?

I ask because I have my camera set up on the other side of the room- and it'd be basically the same picture over and over if it wasn't zoomed in a little bit.

Little Big Planet has options to use the PS3 Eye also. If I can find it for cheap then I'll probably pick one up, get the Aquatopia for the girlfriend, and use it for this game.

My experience has been that while there is a zoom it isn't powerful enough. I sit about 13 ft from my 60in HDTV and I have to move the camera closer when I play Paradise. I have it on a 6' (or is it 10'?) USB extension cable. That is the only way I can get it close enough to take a profile pic that is worth a darn.

same set-up here. I have my camera perched atop my 61in Samsung DLP, and the couch is on the otherside of the room.. I get the whole couch and then some in the shot. I had to go stand i the middle of the room to play Trials of Topoq- which was fine, but it's kind of annoying for everything else.

Remember that the camera also does voice chat. I just prop it up in front of me and use it for chatting, much better than trying wear a headset.

Although it can be annoying for those on the other end who not only have to hear you but also the sounds from your surround sound system!

Having said that the mic does pick up the sounds very well.

If anyone is interested, my local Target still has a couple of copies of the Eye of Judgement PSEye bundle for $18. I'd be happy to get one for a fellow CAG.

don't forget if you wiggle your fingers at the top of the tank you can send the fish some food.

i really only use my ps3 eye cam for chat with friends/new people. Sony sure seemed to forget all about making new games for the ps eye.:cool:

PSN ID DigitalDevilSaga

AdvOfJet, those were some pretty cool tech demos. I just found out about the PSEye section yesterday, but it doesn't look like there's anything great in there. I need to pick one up soon though...

it's great for Burnout Paradise!! also, use it on little big planet. i've only purchased aquatopia and don't really use it and don't see much support in games for the ps3 eye and it sucks. i've seen a couple of games ranging from $1.99-$4.99 in the psn store but nothing worth buying and no demo's for them sucks. anything you all recommend?
