PlayStation 3

ssssss

CAGiversary!
I have no knowledge of the PS3 at all. I'm a 360 fanboy but i've taken some interest in the PS3 as of late. I own a PS2 thats on its last limbs, but it works! (sometimes I have to shove the disc drive in as hard as I can, don't worry I have small arms) so backwards compatibility is not much of an issue. What's the big deal with the 40gb,60gb,80gb? What's the benefits of more? And Is there a 20gb and 120gb? Why would you even want 120 Gigs !?
Also, is Blu-Ray that much better than HD?
Thanks.

I think the main thing they affect are backward compatibility.

I know the 20GB and the 80GB are backward compatible, but I think the 40GB and the 60GB are not. Not sure about the 120GB though.

All I can say about Blu-Ray compared to HD DVD is that HD DVD is dead but Blu-Ray isn't.

And if you want a link, Wikipedia has a pretty good article.

blu-ray and hd can use the same video formats, so quality shouldn't be an issue
future availability of movies is though

The wikipedia article has a nice chart for features and whatnot.

Remember, software emulation is only about 80-85% compatibility with PS2 games. It looks like they're no longer producing backwards compatible systems, bummer. I have the 80GB model from 2007 and haven't encountered a game I can't play, so it's definitely mostly there.
