Just noticed my local Gamestop just slashed the price by 20 bucks. Cheaper then buying it elsewhere. Seems to be nationwide. It includes motocross and hdmi cables which you could sell for about $15 credit too.

Noticed these were in stock again at Gamestop and Best Buy. I fortunately got a good model and have had no issues as of yet. May be looking forward to a 2nd one at a cheaper price if dropped on Black Friday

Could you explain to me how to tell the difference between the good model and the one with blinking red lights? I"d like to know as that's pretty much what's preventing me from actually picking one up right now.

Based on previous discussions, there's no "good model" - there's just one model. Some units have failed, apparently in the first few months of use, and some units haven't failed yet. I'm not sure there are any units out there that have made it through the warranty period yet, because the product hasn't been out a year yet.

By the way, it would be better to just update the price in this thread rather than thrash through this all over again:

I've heard from several people that these things just outright die after like 2 months consistently. I wouldn't pay a dime for one.

Well, with an extended warranty, I'd say it's worth the gamble. I positively love mine. It's my second after a quick and easy exchange of the first one at Best Buy.

Now that I know it works with just about any Sony-branded remote (even ones from televisions more than a decade old), I love it even more.

Free with PS3 on Black Friday? $100? How low can these go before the margins are so thing that they just trash them because it's easier and cheaper than processing returns for so many defective units?

How does anybody still have any of these things in stock? They were $500 a year ago and now $179, why haven't they been shipped back to Sony?
