I remember the Forza #s, never seen anything on Overdrive though. Forza franchise really hasn't be the type of games to sale crazy numbers as well, but like I said, 120K really isn't all that good.
That number was leak by someone on neogaf. He's apparently legit but you never know.

The numbers neogaf gets are pretty accurate most of the time.

With as much as it was marketed you would have thought it would have done better.

No way Sony wins November, Microsoft was practically giving their system away, if they still lose then it will be an upset of epic proportions.. I think that Microsoft clears a million and Sony is around 800k and the Wii U does around 200k.

Sunset is a new IP, expecting great numbers is kind of fooling yourself.  1st inFamous has pretty comparable numbers with a larger install base just for comparison sakes.

We'll see for November NPD.  Obviously I want to see have good news from MS's end.  All these posts I'm seeing on NeoGaf saying PS4 wins November is like playing Devil's Advocate.

I would expect a US Microsoft win based on the sales, but there is reason to be doubtful. Everyone thought The Titanfall launch would give them the win. Then the Kinect unbundling. Multiple sales throughout the year. Yet Sony always stayed ahead. So I can see why people would think Sony still wins.

But I cant see it.

PS4 was sitting at top of amazons best sellers list for a while before it sold out. I honestly think it has a shot to take this thing, if they do lose Im not expecting a huge gap. It would be 150k or less.

Its a fair point but I'm sure mircosoft was expecting strong numbers. Last of us was a new ip and did great so I dont think it's wrong to assume a heavily hyped game would sell 300k to 400k.

Honestly it depends on what mircosoft expectations were. If they thought 200k then it did great. If they expected a lot more than that its a flop. I only assume there weren't happy with sunset and forza sells since they are the ones that dropped them both to 39.99 this week.

FH2 and SO deserve to sell a lot better. Just shows that the Xbox gaming audience is really into the FPS/sports market. That's really disappointing because they just frankly don't really appreciate good games. Oh well their loss.

No way Sony wins NPD. MS has been touting how they've been leading the pack ever since the holiday promotion which started almost the entire month of November. What I'm curious about is whether they'll bring the price back up to $399 after Christmas.

Fh2 came out in bad week which I think hurt launch sales. Sunset came out week before cod. Lol at saying xbox people don't like good games. If uncharted was on xbox it would sell

Why was end of September with no other game but mordor a bad week? Seems the major xbox fan base just wants fps and sports which is why they pander to them.

That's the million dollar question. Honestly I expect Microsoft is going to chart well into November and December, but I don't know what they expect to be doing next year. I think their momentum is going to die down hard and it'll be even worst if they raise the price after the holiday's.

Coming out before Call of Duty shouldn't affect anything if people were interested in more then just FPS games. Sunset Overdrive was a great game, but it sold horribly and that's a damn sin. Good games not selling seems to be a continuing trend on the Xbox One since D4 and Forza Horizon 2 also both sold badly. In the case of Forza it released at the end of September with only Mordor releasing at the time (Which was a sleeper hit at the time). It should have sold well, but it didn't and I question why since I heard it was great.

I finally beat FC4 last night, great game! I still need a couple of trophies for the plat but it should be easy.

Story Choice Spoilers

I chose Amita to be the leader of the Golden Path. Although I killed her at the end of her final cutscene after she started rounding up the local children for child labor. I also Killed Sabal when I had the chance. I let Pagan live.

I still stand by my statements though. I'm not targeting specific cag folks here because we're pretty attuned to good games. It's just in general, the fact that SO and FH2 aren't in more hands by now is really baffling to me and as Kazeno said, is a sin and reflective of the Xbox gaming base.

If a game is really good, it should find a way to sell itself. Take for example, Shadow of Mordor. I never recalled it getting much hype or marketing. When it came out, it came out to universal praise and everybody caught on. This game was never on my radar and I bought it on release week after so many cags were endorsing it. Loved it - one of my favorite games of the year. Turned out to sell really well too. This is an example of how a quality game ends up being successful.

FInally done with Dragon Age. That one never wanted to end. It was good but prolly not my goty cause of all those fetch quests, story was good though. Im doing the adventure mode for LBP3 and i gotta say im really surprised how fun it is. Probably the best LBP i've played.

NPD Numbers are in. Xbox One outsold the PS4 in November, but the gap was so small I'd hardly call it a win.

These numbers aren't 100% confirmed yet, but they line up with estimates.

Xbox One 1,028,291

PlayStation 4 1,019,923

It's also worth noting according to Microsoft's PR they outsold the PS4 in the UK, but note those figures aren't included in NPD.

I expected the Xbox One to be around 1 million, but I honestly thought the PS4 was going to land around 700-800k. Honestly both consoles sold very well, but Microsoft's going to have a lot on their plate now. There's no way they can raise the price next year and honestly they may have to drop it even lower down to $300.

They've just gotta get a foothold.  The thing is, once you start getting an install base people generally buy whatever their friends have.  If Microsoft had let it completely get away from them they wouldn't have been able to catch up.

I know most expected Xbox to win this month, but by 200k+ seemed to be the consensus. Will wait until some more trustworthy sources leak numbers, but if what I read on NeoGaf is true (I know...), then Sony sounds like they won Black Friday, and it was the weeks beforehand that pushed Microsoft ahead.

Wow only a 10k victory with the box going as low as $250 with 2 free games nearly a $250 difference to the PS4..  A victory is a victory but wow is that terrible, I don't think I would be too proud of that win if I were Microsoft.

The good news for them is that with more systems out there they will have the friends of friends buying them so there's that, but with Sony's huge lead it won't be enough to even win America unless something drastic happens.  The rest of the world is over though.

same could be said for sony though. kind of a moot point.

sony has two big first party games coming out in the next 3 months, whats xboxs next big first party title?

Someone on Gaf who seems to have a better rep with these numbers posted a pie chart. Looks like Xbox won by a much larger margin. Just by guessing:

Xbox: 1200k
PS4: 800k
Wii U: 242k (using Gaf calculstions)

That seems like a much more acceptable reality

Same person now posted this:

So who the hell knows. Ill just wait for numbers.

So seems that:

X1: 1200k-1300k
PS4: 800k-900k
WiiU: ~245k

Very nice month for Microsoft, and seems to have dropped the US LTD gap to around 700k between it and the PS4.

Also, as no surprise based on its bundles and lack of marketing, LBP3 sold really poor. ~ 99k on PS4 and ~34k on PS3.

Advance Warfare sales seem to be lower than Ghosts at 4.5 million, and Dragon Age at

Will be Interesting to see how the rest plays out. December will likely be close since the PS4 the get a free game promo right now.

After that, there really is no way Microsoft can go back to $399.99. They have no exclusives coming out for awhile while Sony has some bigger games out over the next few months.

While I've never been one to worry about the monthly numbers, I'm more concerned with total sales,Maas the PS4 passed 15M sold yet? At the beginning of the PSX Keynote, they had a counter and it was heading towards 15M, but I haven't seen an official statement. I'd be surprised to see Micr$oft raise the price back to $399, but that probably means they will do it. PS4 does have some major exclusive games coming but it's never seemed like their first party releases are advertised enough.

No confirmation on how many are sold through. Last announcements were 10 million sold through to consumers in August, 13.5 million shipped at end of October.

If they havent hit 15 million with this month, I give it one or two more months tops.

It'll be interesting to see how sales turn out in January/February as I expect Microsoft won't have bundles as good as the ones they have now by then. I don't think Sony will need to cut the systems price and I can't see that being a viable option. Microsoft has deep pockets and they could always just cut the price again and I don't think Sony would compete well in a pricing war given the fact that the company is kind of laying it's financial future on the success of the PlayStation as a whole.

Im kinda surprised that the gap was that big, if MS keeps the price at $350 after the Holidays I feel like Sony should cut theirs as well.
How are you surprised? lol MS was selling consoles a $330, Target had a added gift card deal. Consumers always go for the cheaper price especially around the holidays. I expect them to win Dec. too and that might push them into the lead for NA. I agree with you that Sony will need to cut the price if MS doesn't go back up. Maybe not to $350 but $380 to stay competitive.

Gap is 800k in the US and there's no way they'll surpass Sony that many units in December. I expect they'll win it too and probably shorten the gap, but they won't beat them overall in the states.

$380 Would be a really tiny price cut. I think their best chances will be just to continue to offer a games bundle past the holiday's and into next year.

Oh I thought the gap smaller than 800,000. If the price disparity stays the same they will surpass them in a few months though.

Sony won't cut the price until at least February, far too many stores have price guarantees until the end of January and there isn't any software to go along with the price cut.  However cutting when The Order drops February 20th makes a ton of sense, but only if Microsoft doesn't raise the price back to $399, which people said they wouldn't do last March when they temp dropped the KInect bundles $100 and yet they still did.   Of course that was in lieu of a Kinectless bundle that released only weeks later so different situation entirely.

There is no significant exclusive on Xbox 1 for the next several months. While Sony got the Order and Bloodborne coming soon.  If there is no price different it will be hard for MS to keep up.

their next significant exclusive is what, quantum break? that doesnt even have a solid release date, just Q2 2015.

it seems as though bloodborne is gonna be a decent system seller. the order will be very hit or miss. i honestly dont see it as a system seller.

The cheaper one will always sell better, exclsusives dont matter as much to the general public. They look at both of these consoles and see no difference. Thats why Sony, who had a off year exclusive wise, sold better for the most part. And no way MS goes back up in price.

I don't know, I think Bloodborne is a little too niche to be much of a system seller... I think The Order probably actually has a bit more mainstream appeal what with it being a shooter and not gory as all get out. Only time will tell though.

The Xbox One will do fine into next year if they keep the price and bundled value under the PS4. Price always wins and looking at the past as well as this holiday season we can clearly see that case being made.

While it is true Sony does have more big name titles moving into early 2015 I wouldn't count Microsoft out yet. It's possible they have stuff planned they've just kept mum on the matter until next year. Right now there's Ori and the Blind forest in January and Screamride in March. I also expect Fable Legends will arrive in either April or May.

I expect at this point The Order 1886 is going to be terrible. I've tried to be optimistic, but I've heard nothing but horrible impressions about it from people who have played it and the gaming press in particular seem to absolutely hate what they've played of it. It looks gorgeous, but unfortunately everything I've read on the game leads me to believe it's all flash and no substance.

Bloodborne on the other hand I'm very excited to play because I love those Dark/Demon Souls type games. I expect it to be a great game and I think it could even be a system seller to that crowd that really loves those From Software titles.

Ive heard mixed on The Order. Each time a new demo is out at a show it seems people enjoy it more and more.

Honestly, unless its already something that is announced, Microsoft wont have much exclusives wise till after June when E3 hits and even then it wont be till September at earliest you will see a game and its likely to be Forza 6.

They have a lot in development but nothing that has a date or even an idea as to when they might come out. For as much as a big deal people made that Microsoft had Halo MCC, Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 (the last two which did not sell well at all) vs just LBP 3 for Sony, im shocked to not hear more about how Sony has exclusives out the first half of the year and Microsoft has nothing.

yeah I don't think Bloodborne will be a system seller in 2015. For months, people have put Bloodborne in their list of reasons for buying a ps4...I think most people that want to play the game, have already bought the console by now.

You'd be shocked. I know a lot of people on different forums that aren't buying a PS4 till Bloodborne is out.

demons souls was a pretty big hit on the ps3. i dont think bloodborne is going to be THAT niche. the order is a brand new game from a dev that only has GoW ports under their belt. maybe with the right marketing itll do OK but if the reviews trash it, itll be DoA

I'm sure it'll do just fine. But selling a lot of systems is not something I see it doing. As for the Souls comparison, everything I've seen about this game looks even more niche than Demon's Souls already was, at least in NA. Don't get me wrong, I've got the game preordered and I hope it does well but I honestly don't see it vastly outselling The Order. I mean, it depends on how strong marketing is for each and how well they review.

It's a silly argument though for me as I'm looking forward to both games.
