Got returnal for $30 but doubt I'll even get to play it soon

That's literally the point of the game. I've died over 10 times and haven't even made it to the first boss yet.
I don't mind starting new runs but when I have a 2-hour run I want to get some type of permanent upgrade out of it. Luckily you do get some rewarding stuff for beating the bosses.

Does anyone know how often psnow goes on sale? Any ideas of when the next one may be? I know I’ve seen it on sale for $45-$48 for a year. And am interested in streaming a few PS3 games.

I broke down and bought Returnal. Seems like first party ps5 games are taking longer than expected to go on sale or get included in some sort of deal and it’s nice to support a dev I like.

Will get to playing it tonight.

Played the RE8 demo again, with skipping the cutscenes and taking my time, I enjoyed it much much more. Capcom is really shooting themselves in the foot by making people rush through the demos. Once you can take your time and explore, the game is way more enjoyable. And although the enemies are bullet sponges, all of the non-major enemies are killable. Pretty fun, looking forward to Friday.

Hey, a friend lent me their PS4 for a few months and I just subbed to PS+ for the first time.

I think the "free" games switch tomorrow... so are the new ones usually available sometime during evening of the day before?

I'm having a love/hate relationship with Returnal. First of the all the graphics are nice, although it's sometimes hard to distinguish the enemy from the environment. The weapons are a bit repetitive, but OK. The items are generally good. The rogue-lite grind is real for sure. To start the complaints I feel the controls aren't as clean. I miss jumps a lot as it feels floaty. The adaptive triggers for the secondary ability for guns are neat, but it takes getting used to it. The every run repetition is getting a bit extreme. I'm not the best at shooters, though I can usually do about middle difficulties in single player ones. The difficulty can be brutal. I freakin' hate all the bullets as they're very hard to dodge. Heck I even think Risk of Rain 2 did this better, and I'm not crazy about that one. This game becomes a bullet hell against tougher battles and the bosses are pretty much bullet hells at certain points. I have a hard time beating again the first boss. I don't feel like I'm getting better. I just keep fighting the somewhat just OK dodging mechanics. This feels like the experience I had playing Skul the Hero Slayer, but I may like that one more even with all the frustration it gave me. I just feel the difficulty is maybe a bit too high for me in this. The repetition of samey feeling rooms and procedural generation isn't helping either. I feel this was way overrated by just about every reviewer. It's a decent enough game, but flawed for sure. It's a 6.5 or a 7 out of 10. If you're not into shooters don't even bother with it. I'm going to give it about another week, but I may give it to my sister to sell sooner than later.

I can understand your complaints for most of this other than the controls. The controls are pitch perfect and some of the best their has ever been in a 3D shooter.

I miss way too many jumps and miss way too many dodges for me to love the controls. They're very decent though. Also bullet sponge bosses. I'm getting ready to tap out. I'm having trouble with just the 2nd boss and it's getting old.

I can understand not liking the difficulty but I too think the controls are excellent. Haven’t had any issues with jumps and dodging is better than any other game I can think of. But we all have our right to opinions.

Anyone have any tips for getting a refund from Sony for a game (bundle) that Downloaded already but (the DLC) is not working correctly?  I struck out with chat and phone as they kept referencing the policy, but the policy states that "faulty content" is eligible for a refund even if you downloaded it already.  Guy told me to contact the publisher for issues with faulty content.  I say that's bogus.

Call them tomorrow and explain. They usually do one courtesy refund if you’ve downloaded the content.

I've been playing a lot of Returnal and I think it is a great game but it really needs a save state for runs.

Housemarque just sent out a PSA to turn off automatic updates on your console if you had a run because they are planning a update today around 9AM PST. I just had to turn on my system this morning and turn off features I use so I didn't lose my current run I couldn't finish last night.

I have both the Astronaut and a Parasite that revive me upon death and 150% health in the Crimson Wastes. I have not been able to get to the second boss yet but I believe I can get to him and be successful with my current stats.

And the backlash they are getting from some people because most people would like to be able to save mid run is ridiculous. I've been playing rogue-like games for a long time and saving mid run is so common now. I don't understand why people have an issue with it.

Yeah, if it’s an auto save that allows you to pick up where you left off but not be able to load when you die, should be no issues with that. The dev saying you can put your PS5 in rest mode is kind of a ridiculous solution. Love the game but 3-hour+ runs without the ability to exit the game is a problem that shouldn’t have existed.

People like to make excuses for games lacking basic features. I remember catching hell years ago for saying that you should be able to pause in Dark Souls if you're playing offline.

They kept saying it wasn't designed for offline and death is cheap anyway. None of that matters. If it CAN be played offline, then you should be able to pause it, period.

I haven't played Returnal. I can see how some might only have 20-30 minutes at a time to play a game and others might have hours but I never felt like it was a problem in games like bloodborne. You're rarely far from a checkpoint and your entire progress is saved and once you unlock those shortcuts you can get back to the action and bosses usually within minutes.

I can't imagine losing 3 hours of progress sometimes for reasons that are even out of your control like the game crashing or whatever. That smells like bad game design to me. This isn't the matrix, people have lives. Unless we are in the matrix and are asleep in our real lives.

I'm still working through Returnal. Finally got through another wall of a 2nd boss and glad to unlock some new guns. I'm still struggling a bit with dodging. Sometimes I feel I dodge decently timed and then I get hit going through bullets and sometimes I don't. I just don't have the feel yet. I still do think it's a 7/10 game for me, which is still a good rating from my standards. Never a huge fan of bullet hell dodging in 3D, but I'm getting used to it. I do always pick up the revival items and will gladly take a revival in exchange for say 2 malfunctions. I'm generally taking risks on malfunctions to get higher rarity chests. Every now and then a malfunction really messes me up (generally the diminished integrity ones), but for the most part they're fine and you'll get rid of them eventually. It's all a game of risk. I do feel some weapon traits are way more powerful than others, but I'm not depending on any. I do know the ones I like and will take a gun with them of lower number of traits over one with higher but worse abilities. I don't really get the hype up for the story though from reviewers. It's there, but it's pretty abstract and just OK. I do love the like no load times though. Also a random thought not about the game but the small HD on the PS5 is already getting to me. My HD is full and I have like 4 games installed or so. One is COD, so that takes up too much space, but Returnal and Demon's Souls take up a lot too. We need bigger HDs and that second slot unlocked already. It's not anywhere near big enough, and games are only going to get bigger with all the 4K and raytracing around.

Made it to the last level in Returnal last night. I had an amazing run that underscored both what is great and what is wrong with the game. Had a lot of challenging fights but over the course of the run (Biomes 4-6) I was able to slowly put together a great build. However, the run was LONG. By the time I got to the last biome I was feeling stressed as it was getting late and I had to get up early for work. It was my first time in the last biome and I would have liked to explore at my own pace, but instead I rushed and ended up dying a stupid death. Could have been avoided if I could have just saved and picked up my run later today. Luckily the sting of death wasn't too painful since I was legit tired and just wanted to go to bed, plus I unlocked a bunch of suit upgrades.

Only time will tell how much this game draws me back once I've finished it. But this initial playthrough has been up there with some of my all-time faves. The action and the atmosphere has made for a lot of unforgettable moments. Really glad I picked this up. Amazing game and Housemarque deserves the full-price buy (which admittedly I would have never spent $70 on if I didn't happen to have a bunch of PSN credit lying around).

The Immortals:Fenyx Rising season pass is at $25.99, which I believe is an all-time low.
Well worth it too, first DLC is good tough puzzles, but the 2nd could have almost been a standalone game, really fun Asian myths, then the 3rd is a top down version.

Demon's & Returnal would be a little over 100 gb. Are Call of duty & one more game seriously over 500 gb or are you being facetious? I Have Demons Souls, Returnal, Borderlands 3, Dead by Daylight, Sackboy, Monster Hunter world, Destruction All Stars, Oddworld Soul storm, Maneater, Bug Snacks, Wreckfest, Astro playroom & Devil May Cry 5 SE on my PS5 and 160gb to spare. How'd you fill up 667gb with 4 games?

Looks like Housemarque just pulled the latest patch the pushed out today because it was causing the game to corrupt player save files causing the game to not boot.

“Patch 1.3.3 has been pulled and we are reverting back to 1.3.1 until it's fixed.

We are fixing the issue now and a new patch will be published in a few hours

All users affected by the 1.3.3 need to re-download the game.

Our sincerest apologies.”

Now I’m really glad I turned off the auto downloads this morning.

My whole point there was that none of that stuff justifies not implementing a fundamental feature of gaming. Unless it's a turn based game where nothing happens without your input, not being able to pause while offline is inexcusable IMO.

They never mentioned the specific sizes which you can see as you quoted them.
He clearly says he has 4 games installed and his SSD is full. He named 3 of them COD, Demon's Souls & Returnal. So it's just a strange thing that doesn't add up. I wonder what the biggest game install currently is.

I’m looking to upgrade my hdd on a super slim ps3 (16gb model). Is 2tb the max? I’ve been looking at a 1tb Toshiba HDWL110UZSVA (L200), 1tb WD 10SPZX, or 2tb WD 20SPZX. They’re all 2.5 Sata drives… Any suggestions?

Geez... I'm glad my game time is in the evening. Guess I'll play something else later tonight. Hope it's fixed soon

COD is 225 GB, Demon's Souls is 52 GB, Returnal 56 GB. If his forth game is like, Hitman, that's 438 GB. It may not be full, but there's still that weird issue of needed 2x the space when you patch.

Add in save files, trophy screenshots, videos, etc, it's not hard to imagine you're using 500 GB or more.

Edit: Or it could be Destiny 2, which would add another 100 GB, making it like 550 GB used.

Holy Crap! Hitman is 438GB? That's gotta be the largest install on console ever correct?
