Anyone know how to get a free one day psn membership? I want to buy a game that's discounted with playstation plus

I was thinking since I got a Pro, I'd buy some black plates since I don't like the plain white plates... and don't see any official ones. Did Sony, for some reason, NOT make official plates for the Pro? Seems like an odd decision given how much they're probably banking on each Pro sold.

No official plates for the pro for whatever reason

Certainly not an ideal solution but the bottom plates of a ps5 slim will fit on the bottom plates of a ps5 pro (the bottom plates are the exact same size and fit). The top plates will not fit however.
So you could (in theory and I'm not suggesting you do this btw) purchase black ps5 slim plates that would fit your bottom plates for your ps5 pro.
You would then end up with white top plates and bottom black plates for your ps5 pro.
Such a poor design by Sony. For such a greedy company you would think they would have a problem with leaving money on the table.
That's also just added cost to ps5 pro owners: buy a disc drive, buy a vertical stand and eventually buy face plates also.

If people think the situation for physical games is bad now just give it a couple more years until there are no gamestops left. Once the retail presence for physical media is gone it dies. I think Nintendo and Sony first party stuff will always have physical releases, but 3rd parties and Microsoft are eager to kill it off ASAP. So we're going to be forced to buy a lot of digital games or game key cards in the near future or miss out on games entirely.

I have read that Doom: The Dark Ages physical PS5 only has 85mb on the disc and the game size is 85gb. It's a game-key card!
same thing with indiana jones, microsoft probably laughing their ass off that their original plan for xbox one is now becoming industry standard.

Well that's some shit... Now instead of no disc, we get disc with nothing on it.

Regardless of any downloads or patches, just make games playable 1.0 versions from the disc. That's all anyone wants. We all know things are patched and updated later.

If we had our druthers half of us enthusiasts would be mainly doing always-offline gaming anyways. We didn't want any of this online stuff, and constant pestering (for non multiplayer or shared-world games). This is something the industry chose for us. Including the slow death of physical media.

Does anyone know what the deal is with The last of Us 2 PS4 version when played on a PS5? I believe I got it for free when I bought a PS5 or something and it looks really really good and I never paid the $10 upgrade fee. I tried to Google to see if like it got some kind of a free patch or something but as far as I can tell it doesn't really take advantage of any extra horsepower of PS5 but my goodness it's really really good looking.

The Last of Us Part II received a PS5 enhanced performance patch - version 1.08 in May of 2021 that allow players to choose 60 FPS or stay at 30 FPS This patch also includes other PS5 backward compatibility features like enhanced resolution and faster load times. The PS4 version of the game was updated to support this patch, allowing PS5 users to enjoy the improved performance.

Digital foundry went over it, they have a article and probably a video

here is a good resource for that kind of thing. PLAYSTATION 5 PERFORMANCE THREAD. It's a database that tells you what kind of performance and resolution you are getting with most games which have been tested. The first list includes the native PS5 games, while the second list includes the PS4 backward compatible (BC) games.

You can see that the PS4 version of TLOU2 runs at 1080p 30fps on og PS4. But the PS5 running the backwards compat PS4 version ofTLOU2 runs at 1440p, with a locked 60fps, with HDR, and that icon signifies that the game has an update containing a performance boost when played on a PS5.

In a digital foundry video about the TLoU2 remaster, he closes his video out by saying it’s worth the $10 upgrade. I was a bit surprised by this because his explanation of the differences didn’t sound like a lot and he didn’t really sound terribly impressed

Probably because of the extra mode you get which is pretty fun and why I bought it. The hoard mode looks fun for Days Gone and I will eventually buy the 10 upgrade for it when they patch some more of the issues with it.

I pick up my Pro tomorrow and can't decide what the first game I want to try will be... I'm thinking Rebirth or LoU Part I. Probably Rebirth. Or maybe Forbidden West or Spider-Man.

I still haven't beaten Fantasian and I think I'm ready to give up on it. I'm just tired of the boss fights being insanely difficult and reliant on trial & error and luck. This feels like a game that was meant to be "pay-to-win".

Stellar Blade was my first Pro game.

I actually stopped playing modern PS5 games (particularly anything that was Pro enhanced) and waited to get a Pro. Last year I upgraded to a 77 inch LG G series OLED, from a 65 inch B series OLED. New home theater set up too with a Denon X6800H, didn’t want to ‘waste’ my gaming experiences on a base PS5.

Maybe one day I’ll get to play all of the Pro games now. Plus I have Hogwarts and Astrobot to go back to wrap up trophies as well.
