I think that was the Borderlands 2 DLC Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. Wonderlands is a full game based on that DLC world. A little confusing.

correct
TT Assault on Dragon Keep was this DLC for BL2
TT Wonderlands is its own game that expands from the DLC, with new story/character/powers/etc...

Tiny Tina's is excellent if you like Borderlands. We loved it. Main game scenario was nothing special; the endgame is pretty good for what you're buying. Good boss fights, good loot.

Both of these games are pretty fun. Played a bit of The precinct last night and its pretty awesome. Labryinth of the Demon King is straight old school PS1/2 style, lot of fun as well and at a good price.

The membership has slowly stripped away value while increasing the cost.

They could at least offer more double discount sales for the subs. Hell when was the last time they even had flash sales or those 1$-2$ sales?

Has to have been at least half a decade.

Like someone mentioned recently what happened to golden week sale?

Plus discount in the past would be month/s before it became the regular sales price.

Typically like 3 months give or take depending on when the sale happened. As they used to do more holiday sales as well so stuff like Utawarerumono or persona dance hit discount then went on regular sales then got discount even further. I still partially regret jumping in at the one sale for the bundles ad iirc they went half off that a short while later so it went from like 14 to 7.50

Catching up on my Triple Click podcast episodes after all of fantasy football from last year and I found this one segment to be really interesting:

Timestamp start at 36m15s. through 46min. The gang talks about service-games development and what's been going on at Playstation during the last several years. cancelled projects, bad oversight, and poor results. Which kinda explains the way I've felt about their direction during this PS5 gen. Twelve service games that were in the works, all of them cancelled, and yet several more still on the horizon.

OTTH, I finally got my busted HDR television from last winter replaced and been playing AAA stuff again on the new set, and to test it. and holy cow, GoW Ragnarok is spectacular. It looks phenomenal on the OLED. The only reason it doesn't score higher is that it is kind of a continuation of story and a retread of gameplay from the previous GoW. But these are near-perfect games. That was also the very best game I played in 2017, and on the PS4 Pro, in a banner year for new releases. The production is top caliber and reminds me what Sony studios are capable of achieving.

I wish people would stop talking about how great OLED TVs are so I don't keep getting tempted to get one.

Get your TV before you get your (any) console, kids! Largest performance bottleneck in most people's setups without question. Shop for last years' models on clearance during April-May right before the current year new sets are coming out. It ups your quality-of-life when viewing ALL content, including $1/mo. streaming and digital antenna.

I camped the bougie Walmart store's C4 for six weeks when it was $1200 "on clearance". Talked to managers twice. Missed it when they suddenly dropped the price to $700 in an instant and they sold out 3-4 units in two days. So I went manufacturer refurbished at MC instead and the product is pristine.

I was looking at a Samsung S90D. I've heard the C4 brought up a lot but the Samsung S90D seems like the better option for me since my living room gets super bright on sunny days so the Samsung seems like the better option, even if LG has better software.

Vinny. Vinny. If you aren’t gaming at 4k120 OLED and a Pro, why bother. And I mean modern gaming, not retro stuff that doesn’t need high res or all about graphics. New games like AC shadows, stellar blade, ff7 rebirth… people are ruining their experiences playing without new equipment.

Same for me goes with movies. My partner and I have two rooms, a living room and my theater room. We watch basic movies such as rom coms or drama on the regular 75 inch LG, and anything with action or loud audio that warrants 7.1 atmos or greater, such as Marvel movies, is only watched in the theater room.

I think this is sarcasm but cannot tell. I hope so.

Not to poke the bear..... They are amazing

That being said, you won;t be amazed after a week of being OH WOW because you will be simply used to it (kind of like when you upgrade to the PS5 Pro or Steam Deck OLED...not like I run the same game side by side to see what I would be missing  )

Surprisingly not. I’ve been around the block, in my 40s now. Been on CAG for over 20 years now.

I‘m at a point in my life I just buy the best of whatever the thing is to enjoy it. When I built my last gaming PC rig, 4090 founders, 16 core CPU, 64gb RAM, 4k/120 display. Last year upgraded my main gaming room from a 65 inch C series OLED to a 77 inch G series OLED and a new 13.4 AVR, from a 9.2 setup. Then upgraded to a PS5 Pro to fully take advantage of it.

Cash app users: check your offers. I have a 50% off PlayStation store offer. Max discount $10, so save $10 on $20 purchase.
Awesome deal! Surprised to see this.

Note that depositing to wallet doesn't allow you to deposit exactly $20, unless I missed it, so to max out on the % off, you'd technically have to buy a game at exactly $20 without having any $ in your wallet already. Next best thing is to do what I did and deposit $25, which charges you $15 - so you get 40% off, still a great deal.

Ah great point!

Is burn-in still a concern on modern OLEDs? I'm looking to upgrade my 10 year old Bravia and am torn between an OLED or a slightly cheaper QLED.

It's still a concern but risk is much less reduced.

A lot of bad interfaces with high contrast elements have been changed to not cause it as much (ask me about the Netflix and YouTube burned into mine, only shows in red scenes thankfully). My issues came from the built in LG apps, to boot.

Just make sure to turn it off when done and don't let it sit. Otherwise, unless you're doing back to back marathon sessions of cable news or the same game daily, you're probably fine.

Burn in is just ununiform wear and cannot be truelly solved for in OLED.

My TV from 2016 is two make advances behind in OLED tech, so I'd but another today if I needed to do so. Since the burn in is light for me and only in the far corners (65"), it's easy to ignore. Not worth dropping the money for a new one, IMO.

Is there an end date for that 50% off PSN Cash App offer? Having trouble an issue adding money to my account (haven’t used it in a long time) so wanted to know how quickly it needs to be done. I don’t see an expiration date on the offer itself.

Crazy how these big screens are the same price as a Pro now. lol

no. It's 99% alleviated.
As of about 4 years ago, right around the CX or C1. Back then they toned down the brightness substantially until it was no longer a problem, so they've slowly been increasing it every subsequent year. The G4 and G5 get insanely bright now.

LG updates the firmware all the time. Now the screen goes into rest mode screen saver after just a few minutes. It also shifts the pixels around on the screen while it's active. When you shut it down it will run a pixel cleaner often times. They also have ABL, an Automatic Brightness Limiter. Sure, burn-in could happen to anyone. But it's a complete non-issue now, with LGs anyways.

I worry about burn-in more on my other equipment because I actually have a G-Sync PC LCD monitor with very bad burn-in. You worry about the lesser brands and the third parties. The new to market sets, not the established ones.

I was looking at a Samsung S90D. I've heard the C4 brought up a lot but the Samsung S90D seems like the better option for me since my living room gets super bright on sunny days so the Samsung seems like the better option, even if LG has better software.

I considered the S90D. It's on a very good sale at BB for $999 right now. It was also rated "2024 TV of the Year" by rtings.com. But Samsung has its own issues.
I've been very unsatisfied with their consumer electronics recently. You can read the user reviews to see some of that too. Bad interface and poor OS. That's a major issue. tiny awkward remote. Their screen goes out permanently at much higher failure rates. Occasional physical manufacturing defects as well.

The S90D is really bright. It's the best looking mainstream set at playing PS5 games. But it doesn't do Dolby Vision and there are several niggling owners satisfaction issues. Keep in my the 55", 65", and 77" sizes also have a QD-OLED panel, which is considered better looking than WOLED panels that most use, including LG. They don't tell you that the 48" or 83" don't have the superior panel, which is the biggest reason (performance gap) for buying this model.

If I didn't want to go OLED, wanted something really bright, and midrange price I'd get the Hisense U7 or U8. They get insanely bright and seem to have very high customer satisfaction. They are very affordable. That's what I'd get if I was on a budget and wanted an LCD. and especially a consideration when you know any of these sets could possibly go out after just a few years.

I’ve got a 65” LG B7 from 2018 and an 83” LG C1 from 2022. Both get used every day and no signs of burn in.

How did you handle the 83 inch? The 77 inch G series I got last year was HEAVY. It’s 41kg and almost unwieldy with the weight and size. The MLA display on the G series and the brightness is killer. If you go that route, you’ll feel spoiled. It’s nearly too bright in a blacked out theater room.

Shovel Knight Dig is out now for PS5 for $24.99 with a PS+ discount to $19.99:

The 83” C1 is only 71 lbs, which is plenty light enough for me to put up by myself. But unfortunately I don’t have an 81” wingspan, so I had to enlist someone else to grab a side and help me get it onto the wall mount. Easy peasy with a helper.

Crazy to think about the fact that it weighs less than half what the last CRT I owned. That 32” beast clocked in at a svelte 152 lbs! 😳 Now that was a tough tv to handle!

Same here . I’ve never had that cash app stuff so I just made one and I’m getting a error when trying to add money
