The PlayStation Network will be taken offline for maintenance on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, for approximately 11 hours during the following maintenance window:

Down Time (Start): Wednesday, March 9, 8:00 AM, Pacific Time
Down Time (End): Wednesday, March 9, 7:00 PM, Pacific Time

During this time you may:
Not be able to access the PlayStation®Store
Have difficulty signing in to the PlayStation®Network
Not be able to play online games
See a maintenance page when attempting to access the PlayStation®Network

Note: When you log into the PlayStation Network, a message may appear which states, "the PlayStation Network has been suspended". This does not mean that your account has been suspended; it simply means the PlayStation Network has been taken offline. Please wait until the maintenance window has passed before attempting to connect to the PlayStation Network again. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I can't play ME2 right now because of this (keeps freezing when connecting to EA's servers). Even if I sign off of PSN the game wont let me play.....FFFFUUUUUUUUU
 
Nah, it's that EA DRM crap. Can't play MAG either. GT5 is ok.....but I'm not in the mood for that right now. Just gotta wait I guess.....

Oh....I'm assuming you bought a downloaded copy then? I was assuming it was a disc based game.

So you can't play ME2 at all? I wasn't aware it had DRM on it.
 
I'm obviously hoping the PlayStation Network will re-open with tons of amazing improvements & new content. After recently purchasing a PS3 (and being an Xbox 360 player for the past few years) the PS3 experience as a whole hasn't been all that impressive to me. Here's hoping I can play MLB '11: The Show without any interruptions.

EDIT: Damn it, no Netflix on PS3 either during this crap? Lame, Sony. Lame.

Neither was I, I thought it was just the DLC that was protected, but instead it's the whole game.

Awesome....maybe they could've put that out when I logged in late last night....something along the line of "you should leave your system on if you want to use it online tomorrow".....great communication.

Figures, I haven't had much time at all to play Killzone due to work and other things. then today I have the whole day clear and this crap happens. Still haven't finished upgrading a single class.

Great, guess I will get a chance to play next week ... I hope.

So is everyone else able to sign into PSN right now? I just did, and I can play games online as well. The only thing down is the PSN store.
 
Well that's ok news, just got home from work and might want to play more KZ3 unless I decide to start another game.

On the bad side what could Sony possibly be doing? Certainly we won't see anything useful, none of their updates have been worth the time wasted. I would seriously consider hacking the system if it meant never updating again but still being able to play online once in a while. I've ZERO use for all this non-gaming fluff crap.
 
I really wish Sony would do this at night here in the U.S. But it wouldn't be during the night all around the world so I guess someone has to get screwed lol.

yep. Plus a lot of people don't realize that maintenance isn't always some automated thing. There are actual workers who have to do this, and as with any business, most only work during the daytime. It would suck to have to work throughout the night when you normally wouldn't

Mass Effect 2 is working for me now. And games are now playable online. You just can't access the store or account management.
 
Almost beat the crap out of my PS3 because I couldn't sign in. I thought it was my lame internet connection, then I read something on their website about maintenance. Why would you not send an email or something to notify us that we can't get online?
 
Hmm. I unplugged the ethernet to the PS3 before launching ME2. It tries to sign in, I tell it to cancel, and it gives me the title screen same as always. Besides, my internet sucks and goes out frequently, most of the time I play ME2 it can't access PSN. It's definitely not a DRM check for EA.

You're not specifying what version you have, mine always connects to EA's servers and checks the DLC, if there is no connection, I dont play. It forces me to connect to the internet, and by that it tells me so in a message.

Trust me I tried every which way to get it to work, even how you described.

Started working again around 4:30pm.

Earlier i can't even watch netflix but now it seems to be working, so its only the acct. management and psn store that we can't access.
 
it seems to be working again for me.
I haven't tried Multiplayer yet, but I can access the store and see my friends online now.

It's the downloadable version, a gameshare at that. Must have been a glitch w/ the PSN maintenance because I've never had a problem before with not being able to sign in. Strange.

there is a nonzero chance if sony is rolling out cloudsaving, there could be some glitches. Probably highly unlikely, but might want to be extra cautious the next day or so, especially with save files.
