There should not be - I'm pretty sure GameStop doesn't charge tax on Microsoft Points, Wii Points, or subscription cards, last I checked.
as i said in a later post, it probably depends on the retailer.
Also, MS charges tax for the points, if you buy them through the 360. That seems to be the most telling stat to me.

So if I understand correctly, the OP posted MS points for 24 shipped? CC has them on sale or something for 20?

If that's the case, that IS A DEAL to me. The closest CC to me is 45 mins away, so I'd rather pay that then drive 45 mins each way, to get a card.

No, you can get **2*** 1600 cards for $20 this week at CC, unless you got to the store after the OP hoarded them all.

The point have an MSRP of $19.99 at any store you goto, not just Circuit City. So unless you live in a farmhouse 45 miles from town and do not have a credit card to purchase directly from MS...then yeah, it MIGHT be a deal. But hell, I might as well sell my copy of Super Paper Mario Wii for $95 shipped because it might be a deal to someone.
I hate to defend thefreshprince, he's on my ignore list, but if you buy microsoft points, there is tax, whether on retail or through the console, so, yeah, he's still overcharging though.
Wal-Mart doesn't charge tax on cards. Other retailers do, but when my friend purchased a card from there it was 20.00 even.

And OP come back with some better prices before you post another thread or the same thing is going to happen.
