I have a P4 1.6 ghz processor, 768 mb Ram, 150 gb harddrive, and a 256mb ATI Radeon 9550 video card. Now based off that setup, what game will be not only the most fun, but run pretty damn good as well? The choices are in the poll above, but I would love to hear your thoughts as well. Also, I have decided to pick whatever game wins! Thanks.

I am leaning towards World of Warcraft and Guild Wars. I love Warcraft, but Guild Wars is free. I also like Star Wars, but I heard that game isn't very good.

Guild Wars isn't really an MMORPG though... read the reviews for more specifics. Out of those choices, go with WoW. I have been playing for a few months and it is very fun, and very well done (as long as you can stick with one character long enough to get it into the higher levels...the temptation to create and level several characters is strong in this game).

So Guild Wars is more of a PvP fest, with elements of MMORPG thrown in? Does anyone know how Star Wars Galaxies is?

Ragnorak Online looks sweet, but I am leaning either towards Star Wars Galaxies or World of Warcraft. When does Ragnorak come out?

Guild Wars is more of an online RPG, with the capability of small parties like Diablo. I haven't played an MMORPG since Everquest first came out, and have not been really tempted, due in part to the monthly fees in addition to full price software, and the focus on MMO. If you like to play single player or with small parties, GW is the way to go. If you always feel you need to be in a massively populated world, GW would not be the right choice.
I'm playing GW, and I have only 'partied' once for about five minutes to do one quest, and one more time in a forced, game-configured party when I 'seared'. I'm trying to get the missus into it, I'd rather party with her than a bunch of folks I don't know.

Ragnarok has been out for years, but is populated by nothing but 11-year-old anime nutcases.

Go to the Gaia forums. Then, imagine it's all a game. That you have to pay monthly for. That's Ragnarok. Get GW or WoW, they're both awesome.

I think I would like to party, so maybe World of Warcraft is what I might go with. I saw at walmart.com, the Star Wars Galaxies 3-Pack for $29.99, which includes the game and both expansion packs. But how many people (I'm wondering) even play Star Wars? Maybe I will get World of Warcraft. Decisions decisions.

everyone has told you wow, and yet youre still thinking about swg, so i say get swg just because it seems like you want to play it more... if you dont like it you can just cancel after the first month and youre only out 30 bucks, then go get wow (which i believe is the better game and play)

I currently play WoW and I can safely say its awesome. I haven't played anything else except for the SWG beta and that sucked big time. Its just very boring.

Guild Wars no question, even though I never played WOW or SWG I did play some cost MMORPG in the past, DaoC and EQ1 nothing can match Guild Wars, weekly updates and no fee

Save your soul, just say no!

If you want one... I'd say GW because it has no monthly fee so you don't feel presured into playing it all the time.

However, if you're open to suggestion, Anarchy Online is free for the basic game. I've been playing it for the past few days and its pretty good. Its got a lot of depth and options.

Guildwars for me is fun... but there are a lot of fucking stupid people that really ruin the experience.

Haven't played WoW, but its 'teh uber 1337ness' if you talk to a blizzard fanboy.

Galaxies is supposed to be horrible.

Matrix, I'm told, is horse shit.

City of heros is supposed to be pretty good.

On all your choices it basically boils down to the 2 best games:

World Of Warcraft
-Ive played it for 2 months.. basically Level 1-59 is awesome, at level 60 life gets boring. High level instances takes hours to organize, and according to a friend that just quit.. Battlegrounds is indeed awesome but it would take a powergamer to reach the Top 5 in PvP points which sucks. If your willing to invest a whole lot of time into an MMORPG, WoW is the best out there..and your computer is more than capable of running it. At level 50+ I spend 4-5 hours completing instances, at level 60 it can take upto 10+hours..be warned its time consuming.

Guild Wars
-Now lets get one thing straight, this is not an MMORPG..its an MORPG (w/o Massive). Its more like a Diablo 2 on Battle.net, towns are like game hubs where people can interact, questing itself is done 'privately' or what you call in WoW as instancing. Anyway this is a great game.. I have old WoW buddies quiting WoW for GW..its not for everyone since it looses the 'community' feeling that MMORPG like WoW has.

Id take GW over WoW because I dont much time to invest playing, and of course GW is free play..i am a CAG right? :)

Tough decision...it is down to WoW or GW...I might try Anarchy Online though. And I just downloaded a beta test for City of Heroes so we will see. Thanks for all the feedback.

Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst

It's $9 a month, but when you download the free installer and register your account - they give you a free two weeks or until you reach lvl 20.

Think a futuristic Diablo 2 set in the semi--overhead 3rd person with may different classes of warriors and easy inventory system.

www.psobb.com

If you played the DC version or the Gamecube version, this PC game includes te very same episodes and the exclusive Episode 4 (Blue Burst portion)

WoW. Been playing for a month and it's a lot of fun. My friend with SWG says lots of people are quitting to got to WoW. Says it's not even fun anymore and the battle system is screwed up or something.

World Of Warcraft: I played WoW for three months. It's definately a great game, but it depends on what kind of game you're looking for. WoW definately requires a lot of time. If you aren't willing to spent some hours grinding, then this isn't the game for you.

Guild Wars: I currently play GW right now, and I enjoy it a lot. I can just pick it up and go pvp for maybe an hour and that'll be it. There is very little grind, and you can reach max level in a matter of days. There is a pretty good amount of PvE content, though that obviously isn't the main focus of the game.

Matrix Online: I played the beta, and though that may not be a complete example of the entire game, it was a complete mess. Don't even waste your time on this one.

man FFXI isn't even on your wanted list eh? that was a pretty good game.

but all in all, no more MMORPG for a long while. I like having variety and playing at leisure

FFXI is ok... its really a long grinding game that wears out if you don't enjoy doing the same thing over and over and over and over ad infinitum.

I heard someone actually hit 75 on every profession

You don't get really cool stuff unti you hit level 40+ spending 3 months on a treadmill.

I just started Star Wars Galaxies recently and I'm already addicted. The combat system is fine from my perspective, you won't know the difference in the new and old system if you are new to the game. There is a very big influx of new players too, I play on the Flurry server and the number of players I've been seeing in Mos Eisley is unbelievable. If you are a Star Wars fan definitely give it a try. The Total Experience pack with the game and 2 expansions is $29.99 with 30 days included, but you might be able to find it on sale for $19.99 like I did. A lot of people in this thread say "I heard it sux", but until you try it yourself you won't know.

Well I finally choose...Matrix Online..just playing. I went with World of Warcraft, because it is an MMORPG and a lot of people play it. Maybe I will try Star Wars if I find it real cheap. Thanks for the input guys!

There are only 2 mmorpgs worth playing.

City of Heroes is actually the best and most fun espcially since they added the arenas and City of Villians is upcoming.

World of Warcraft has just removed UO, EQ,EQII, DAoC,AC, AC2, and all other pretenders from competition. It is very very good, but expensive and demanding on hardware although it does scale decently well if you can manage without all the bells and whistles.

I would be playing CoH over WoW but that superhero stuff wasn't really my thing, I never did collect comics.

I was thinking about either WoW or GW as well..and I am going to buy GW tomorrow coz its FREE!!! lol I'm a CAG down to my rotten core.
Does anyone know of any free downloads of any of these games where I can try it out?
not those, but ... Gunz online is free to download and play beta version for now. fun game!

I am with the save your monthly money crowd, and I know I will be picking up GuildWars eventually. Then again I loved Diablo type game style (though the same missions over and over got boring). I can never see myself spending monthly money on something I might or might not have any of my valuable time to spend on it. From everything I have heard though, if you are going to spend the money go with WoW.

Actually I recommend WoW if you can afford 15$ a month. It is absolutely the best thing on the intertron and will continue to thrive. I know a lot of people have been raising hell, but look at it this way: It makes money. It will be there for a long time because of that, and Blizzard has a good track record with me. D2 was great long after it was bleeding edge graphics etc

Good choice. If you consider Star Wars in the future I would choose against it. I played for a while and I noticed several things. First of all there are little people, the world is huge but poplatuions are low. It was very common to find player created towns turned into a deserted town. In fact I never saw a player in a player made town.

The best part about the game is the skill system. It is very robust and fun to use. But everything else plain sucks. Combat is terribly boring and slow. There is a lack of RPG elements namely there is no story. The graphics are okay not good but not bad either. Also interacting with players is just no fun, there is nothing to talk about. In one word I would call this game bleak. Or abandoned.
they just completely redid SWG to try and fix many of the problems because they knew the game sucked
Yeah, I heard about that but I figured that the problems were so deep in the game mechanics that it was unfixable. Has it made much of a change?

I don't know. I just read that people were pissed because it was going to change, but that the developers wanted to make the game more fun because deep down they knew the game blew and wanted to make it a more star wars like experience.

avoid the plague that is known as star wars galaxies. Even with its new fresh coat of paint (the NGE), its still the same crap only now its PS2 friendly. The way its been dumbed down, I think the PS2 can handle it. I was going to come back one day, but seeing how its going to wear out my mouse buttons, i am going to skip it.

City of Heroes all the way!

I would say go with WOW. My friend gave me his free trial yesterday and I love it. I used to play Everquest back in the day, but this is so much better. The quests and the overall feel of the game are great for a MMORPG.

I'd go with Guild Wars. One thing that always drew me off of MMORPGs are the damn fees and they can really add up (you'll pay around $150 at year for World of Warcraft). Sure Guild Wars isn't the best MMORPG but it's damn good... and that's not taking fees into consideration, that just sweetens the deal.
