Please, help me upgrade my PC

CAGiversary!
So here's the deal, I got the PC I'm currently using about 4 years ago. It's good for running WoW, but I want to upgrade it because it isn't too good with recent games. I'm looking to spend about $300 to make it better.

Asus A7V8X Motherboard (6 PCI, 1 AGP, 3 DIMM)
AMD Athlon XP 2000
2x 80 GB Hard Drive
Windows XP Professional SP2
512 MB RAM (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
HIGHTECH EXCALIBUR RADEON 9250 (128 MB)
16x DVD-ROM
48x CD-RW Drive

I was thinking of getting my RAM up to 1 gig and replacing my 9250 with a X1300.
What do you guys suggest?

Just get one more 512 MB stick and slap on a 6800 GT and WoW will run like an absolute champ. You can get one for around $80 on eBay. Skip the X1300, it is crap. So for about about $125 total, you'll run WoW at max settings and newer games like Oblivion at medium settings.

I have a 3.2 P4 with 1 GB RAM and a 6800 GT and run Half-Life 2 at max settings, 1280 resolution, HDR, 4X AA, and 8X AF so it is definitely a capable card.

Your PC is becoming obsolete so a $300 upgrade will be a waste. Eventually you will need a new PC so I'd save the rest.

Edit - Actually for about $25 more you can get an Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton core). If you have a Socket A motherboard, I'd get the 2500+ because they are easy to overclock to 3200+ speeds. Then you are pretty much set unless you have a desire to run Crysis at high settings.

Thanks guys, I think I'll just chug along with this one for a few more months while I save for a brand new system.
