FAQ

EMAIL EMAIL EMAIL!!!!! If you want to change anything or ask a question PLEASE EMAIL TONY.
[email protected]
[email protected]

0) How fast is the shipping?
He sends out via usps or ups. First class mail-$5. Usually arrives in three days, sometimes more. Priority mail- $6.50. Usually arrives in 2 days, sometimes three. UPS-$8. I honestly dont know how long this one takes
If you buy two games that get shipped together he automatically upgrade to priority.

1) When will games like GTA 4 and Halo 3 ship out?
Both of those games will ship on or one day before street date because they are street dated titles which means I(Tony) should have mine at least one day early. I would pay for priority mail. It is fairly quick. As fast as two day cross country sometimes.

2) When I trade in games to lower the price, will I get the trade in credit as well?
Yes. Not only do you get the trade in credit, you will also get the lower price depending on the number of trades(Limit three per game to lower the price). Games must be worth at least $10 trade in credit. Basically, you get the lowered price and store credit

3) Is this site reputable?
Yes. There have been two threads each reaching 30+ pages and many people have bought used and new games from him. Everyone has been happy with their purchases. If something does go wrong, you can email Tony and he will help you to make your purchase better.

4) How are these considered deals if the shipping is $5
Ok. First there is NO tax. That saves you about $4. Then if you trade in games towards your purchase it will lower the price $5 more(if they are worth $10). Used games are about $20 below EB/GS for newer games. So at $5 saveings per game if you bought 5 games a year thats at least $30 savings

5) Where does Tony ship from?

Lion Games
120 Willow Street
Winsted, CT 06098

Phone: 860-738-4336

Email: [email protected]

6) How can liongames.com make money with such low prices?
Instead of advertising, Tony is offering lowered prices and excellent customer service in hopes that you will come back and tell others via forum or word of mouth. He mainly makes money on used games and he has an actual store in CT to further bring in money

7) Who are you? I've never heard of LionGames.com

LionGames.com is a subsidiary of Age of Video II located in Torrington and Winsted Conn. The addresses are as follows:

Age of Video II
1151 Main Street
Torrington, CT 06790
860-496-1798

Age of Video II
120 Willow Street
Winsted, CT 06098
860-738-4336

We have been running Age of Video II in Torrington from 1987-present and our Winsted store 1991-present. As you can see we are no strangers to the retail environment.

8) I have purchased game(s) and sold game(s) on the same invoice. What happens now?
Since the game(s) you sold us reduced the total of your invoice, we cannot send you your game(s) until we received the game(s) you sold to us. Mail your games as quickly as possible to.

Lion Games
120 Willow street
Winsted CT
06098

9) I want to buy a game(s) and sell you a game(s) and I want the game(s) I buy right away.
In this case do 2 separate invoices. One for the purchases and one for the game(s) you are selling us. This way we don’t have to wait for your games to get to us before we send you the one you purchased.

10) Am I allowed to trade in so many games that Lion Games will owe me money?
Sure!!! You can even just sell us games without buying one yourself. If you want to sell us more then 10 games, shoot us an email first.

11) Will I be guaranteed the price Lion Games quoted me for my game?
As long as you represent the game condition that you are selling us accurately, we guarantee the price we quoted you on our website. Lion Games noticed some of our competitors have reserved their right to reduce the game(s) after they’ve received the game(s), if they feel the market has changed. We don’t do that. We also don’t put bogus prices on our website. We take a straight forward no nonsense approach to doing business. The only other thing we ask is for you to mail your game(s) to us within 5 business days.

12) An example of a trade-in scenario:

Metroid Prime is $34.99 with 2 trade-ins

Trade in Shadowrun for $25 and Fantastic 4 for $15 would give you $40 credit.

MP is $34.99 (with 2 trades) + $6.50 USPS priority - $40 credit would leave you with a balance due of $1.49.

13)When do I pay off my balance?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is about one month from the release date. Tony will send out an email stating when certain deals are ending and when your balance will need to be payed off

14) How do I upgrade my shipping?

If anyone wants to upgrade their shipping from first class to priority then you can just paypal me $1.50 to [email protected] Please include your invoice number in the comment section. It is $1.50 per game. Also after i make the change your invoice will still read first class but the amount that you actaully paid will be different and the amount paid for shipping is what i look at when i determine first class or priority.

Tony I hope you dont mind that I took some answers and question from your site

Great site you have going here. I hate dealing with eBay and the incentives offered for trade-ins really sweeten the deal here. Now I have MP2 and Blue Dragon preordered. Assuming everything works out with my trade-ins, I will definately be doing business here in the future.

Ok I'm gonna be really retarded and just get to my question.

I am going to pre-order Metroid Prime 3.
I am gonna do the $35 method, which is to trade in 2 games.

I have not done it YET..but I am at the screen where it asks for my credit card info.

It says Order Total: $41.49

Will ANYTHING be charged to my card?

EDIT: LOL i didn't see the OP was updated with this

That's exactly what I'm doing. Including the $6.50 shipping. But I just want to know what happens when I submit my order. Hopefully someone can get to this asap :)

my friend just ordered Rockstar Table Tennis yesterday and got it today, and he said the disc looks as if it is in mint condition. so dont be afraid to order from them. only thing im angry about is that i fully paid for GTA IV, but now i have to wait until next year to play.

Halo 3 will be out soon, and i preordered that too from LionGames, so that should be a bunch of fun.

I dont believe your card is charged until the games are shipped out or until he has to to put in his pre-order. You will only be charged for the amount you owe. Aka if you trade in games that would give you $30 credit then your card will be charged 11.xx. It only charges you the amount you owe. He doesnt charge you for the whole amount. Just the total minus the trade in values.

I think that should answer your question

Well I'm just confused since it doesn't ask me what games I'll be trading in--so that's how it wouldn't know.
Well I'm just confused since it doesn't ask me what games I'll be trading in--so that's how it wouldn't know.
It doesn't ask you...you have to go under the
lg_hp_11.jpg
link, and choose the games you will be sending...once they are chosen and you have chosen your game/preorder, you complete the transaction.

Oooh! See I had assumed that it would ask me since I chose the option of Metroid Prime w/ 2 games for $34.99 LOL

Thanks I'll go check that out now!

Real dumb question but do the used games come in the original case with the manual unless stated? I'm guessing that they do but I want to make sure before I order. Thanks ahead of time for answering the NOOB question.

It worked :)

I was charged $1.49. Now I gotta head over the post office tomorrow. Sigh at doing stuff.

Do the games have to be there by a specific time? I'll prolly put the 2 in 1 box and send them media mail..that can take up to 10 days lol but it'll be cheap! Plus Metroid doesn't come out until the end of the month--so, media mail ok for this?

Its actually cheaper and safer to do 1st class. I paid less than $2 when I shipped FEAR. The invoice states that you should ship within 5 days.

He will send out an email telling everyone. Yes you can send the games in individually. Send the games first class its cheap and safe

Tony how are you going to handle the big delay in GTA4? Are you going to refund deposits and prepayments or just hold the orders open?
Tony how are you going to handle the big delay in GTA4? Are you going to refund deposits and prepayments or just hold the orders open?
That is actually the question I came here to post as well. :)

Sounds like we will get treated appropriately either way.

The negative fallout is going to come in the form of a ton of extra work cancelling pre-orders. I had a ton of stuff i wanted to get done tonight and I basically just caught up with my emails just now at 12:30 am. so for 5 hours i been buried in emails instead of getting what i wanted to done. Those are the breaks. Just bad timing for me as I want to be working on my bioshock shipments. Cya

tony
This is what he said when I PMed him last night about a trade in question, and then asked him about GTA IV

Another questions about GTA IV - Will you be putting it back up on special? I would like to jump on that deal.

What's Tony's policy with canceling preorders? I'm having second thoughts about Mass Effect. The game looks awesome and but it might be too big for my own good. Too many games are coming out around this time and I'm not the biggest RPG fan.
Regarding GTA 4, i'm hoping Tony gives us the option to keep our pre-orders if we want. I have no problem with the wait.
Yeah I know. I thought about canceling it, but after giving it some thought I realized that I would end up buying it anyways, and at the price I preordered it at I wouldnt be able to spend any less later on.

Sent my 2 games today. 2 games in 1 envelope for $3 first class shipping is nice!..+ 75 cents for confirmation..just in case lol

Although there are some great deals here, I just have to say that $5.00 shipping for (1) video game via USPS First-Class Mail is kinda a lot. I mean, today I sent both of my games in padded mailers and each cost only $1.81. Just felt that I had to say that.

Agreed. I put 2 in 1 envelope and it came to $3

It's not just a shipping fee but S&H fee. So it's like paying $2 for shipping and $3 for the handleing

You have a point. If you shipped something out you would pay $2 postage. You forget the envelope and handling though. Compare the shipping to any other site online and its pretty comparable if not better. Most stores Ive shopped at online may have free to cheap shipping but you will have to wait a good week for it to arrive. I paid $6.50 for priority and had the game here the next day after it shipped. If I wanted a game overnight from EBgames it would be $10. Their 3 day USA ground is $5.99.

Ok. It pays for the shipping. The mailer. Then the hassel of going to the post office. And a little something extra. Plus your stuff gets there in 3-4 days. Most other people ship for $6-7 and it takes a week or so

Priority mail is guaranteed 2-3 days. If you got it overnight then you probably lived close and got a bit lucky. Priority rarely gets there overnight so comparing it to overnight cost on another site isn't really fair.

Let's not delude ourselves here folks by trying to justify the cost for the envelope, time, etc. He's listing most new releases at $7 under retail and making up about half that on shipping costs. There's not really anything wrong with it IMO and if you're aware of that and still want to save a couple bucks (no tax either) then no problem. $52.99 with $5 shipping just looks better on the page (especially since you don't see the shipping charge until later) than $55.99 with $2 shipping does.

I do the same thing on ebay with my buy it now auctions. I list them at a couple bucks under what they're generally going for and charge $4.99 or $5.99 for first class shipping. I have a nice little spreadsheet here telling me that I'm making money on that shipping cost, envelopes and time be damned.

It's no big deal, but as someone who has shipped nearly a thousand things over the past year or so (mostly video games and HD DVDs/Blu-rays so this is right up my alley) I can tell you that there is no case where it genuinely costs $5 to send a DVD case via First-class mail.

@Vcize

Just FYI- this has been discussed in the previous thred linked in the OP. You must have missed out on the previous preorder pricing, as those were a great deal. But I don't think his current preorder deals are anything to scoff at. I think your comparison may be flawed. How many Day one releases are you selling on your ebay store? Also, much of the deal in the current preorders comes via the price break on the preorder in mailing in a used game you own and getting credited for that at better than gamestop prices. As good if not better than family video. Just depends on whether you got a game over $10 credit to trade in.

And the 6.50 for priority is the best deal your gonna get on quick preorder shipping.
5.00 may be a little high, but factor that cost into the game and your still saving at least 5-10 bucks depending on trade in's.

Hey, since GTA IV has been delayed until May, will you put that pre-order back into effect again? I got Halo 3, but I was short on fundage while that special was out.

Can someone explain how pre-orders work?
When we pre-order say, Metroid Prime, does it take$ 45 out of my account and pay for it all right away?
Do we only pay a small $10 deposit on the game, like we do in real stores?
Or do we not get charged anything until the game ships?

And any one know if Cali gets charged tax via this website?
Amazon doesnt charge me, but I know CA is tax central.

When do the monthly deals usually get switched up? I was happy the july deals fell into August because i was able to nab Metroid Prime 3 with some tradeins.
does this site take visa giftcards? and how do we give you the games we trade in?
unless you want to get games from there for just about regular prices its too late
Still curious about how pre-orders work, and how much/when we are charged for them.
I'm with you on this one. Does anyone know?

factoring in paypal charges, mailers, and time that could be spent at a job, I've found that even overcharging for shipping at $4.99, it still cuts in to the buy it now price and doesn't really make up for ebay fees. so I don't see how it's "making money" rather than just separating it from the selling price...

Ok Ok.

So I don't get why a lot of ya'll are saying that the trade deal is such a good deal?

Example:

Madden 2008 = $52.99 + Shipping - Still equals a ok deal but nothing great.

Now Madden 2008 with Trade in Two games = $42.99 + Shipping

Now you get to - the trade ins / Hitman Blood Money = $10 and Dead Rising = $10

So you'll be getting the game for 22.99 plus shipping.

But now if you just sold Hitman & Dead Rising on Ebay/Half/Amazon/CAG/etc you could make what about $20-$25 profit for each game. I'll just say $40.

Now Normal Price 52.99(plus Shipping) - $40(Cash that you made elsewhere) = 12.99 plus shipping

That seems like a way better deal. Might take a little more time but its worth it.

And you guys call yourselves Cheap Ass Gamers.......................

I think you're misreading my post. I wasn't speaking specifically of the preorder deals (which are in fact great deals), I was talking about the shipping cost in general, which is what was being discussed in the posts just before mine. They were dated August 3rd and my post was dated August 4th, so I don't think I found my way into some old, outdated thread.

FWIW, I preordered all of the $40 deals and continue to support liongames with my dollar. I like the business model he's got set up and even with the shipping costs it comes out a couple bucks cheaper than buying locally after tax. My point was only in response to the people trying to say that it *actually* costs 5 bucks to ship those games via first class mail when you factor in the envelope, etc. All I'm saying is that as someone who does the exact same thing, it does not actually cost 5 dollars. Again I have no problem with chopping a couple bucks off the regular price (not talking the $40 preorder deals here) and making up some of it in shipping, just pointing out the facts to people trying to stretch them.

Also FWIW, I do sell a lot of day 1 big releases. I sold 10 copies of The Departed on HD DVD/Blu-ray on day 1 and that was one of the most highly anticipated HD movies to date at the time.
so I don't see how it's "making money" rather than just separating it from the selling price...
Uh...separating it from the selling price is exactly what I said it was doing. Just like on ebay I list the things for a couple bucks cheaper than they generally go for with a couple dollars higher shipping cost. It's the same dollar amount in the end, but people are generally drawn to my auction (buy it now) first because it *looks* like it costs less as people tend to look at shipping cost later on. I also use the exact same .99 trick which normally is transparent but when adding two numbers together it always tends to get people. People can look at $52.99 and think $53, but when people see $52.99 and $4.99 shipping I guarantee you a vast majority of them quickly see it in their head as $57 total, not $58.

I can pretty much guarantee you that if you sat Tony down on a lie detector and asked him if he has in his mind that he's making some money back on the $4.99 shipping he's going to say yes, and I have no problem with that especially since he's generally discounting the games by more than he's making up in shipping, which is generally better than I can say for myself on ebay.

I am shocked no one has an answer for the pre-order questions we are asking, and instead choosing to argue about whether or not people are getting a good deal or not.
Gotta' love the mentality.

Is the Bioshock pre-order deal still active? The site confuses me because it looks like the game is $29.99 total and I'm not sure how to make the $10 down payment. Did I miss the boat on that?

Yea. That deal was pulled a week or two ago.

Yes, please, someone elaborate on how to pre-order games, how much you're charged, and if they take it out of your debit as you preorder, or before he ships the games?

The FAQ should mention this.

Please, it would suck if you keep ignoring the 4 people asking for help on this issue and make us miss the good preorder deals.
