FAQ

EMAIL EMAIL EMAIL!!!!! If you want to change anything or ask a question PLEASE EMAIL TONY.
[email protected]
[email protected]

0) How fast is the shipping?
He sends out via usps or ups. First class mail-$5. Usually arrives in three days, sometimes more. Priority mail- $6.50. Usually arrives in 2 days, sometimes three. UPS-$8. I honestly dont know how long this one takes
If you buy two games that get shipped together he automatically upgrade to priority.

1) When will games like GTA 4 and Halo 3 ship out?
Both of those games will ship on or one day before street date because they are street dated titles which means I(Tony) should have mine at least one day early. I would pay for priority mail. It is fairly quick. As fast as two day cross country sometimes.

2) When I trade in games to lower the price, will I get the trade in credit as well?
Yes. Not only do you get the trade in credit, you will also get the lower price depending on the number of trades(Limit three per game to lower the price). Games must be worth at least $10 trade in credit. Basically, you get the lowered price and store credit

3) Is this site reputable?
Yes. There have been two threads each reaching 30+ pages and many people have bought used and new games from him. Everyone has been happy with their purchases. If something does go wrong, you can email Tony and he will help you to make your purchase better.

4) How are these considered deals if the shipping is $5
Ok. First there is NO tax. That saves you about $4. Then if you trade in games towards your purchase it will lower the price $5 more(if they are worth $10). Used games are about $20 below EB/GS for newer games. So at $5 saveings per game if you bought 5 games a year thats at least $30 savings

5) Where does Tony ship from?

Lion Games
120 Willow Street
Winsted, CT 06098

Phone: 860-738-4336

Email: [email protected]

6) How can liongames.com make money with such low prices?
Instead of advertising, Tony is offering lowered prices and excellent customer service in hopes that you will come back and tell others via forum or word of mouth. He mainly makes money on used games and he has an actual store in CT to further bring in money

7) Who are you? I've never heard of LionGames.com

LionGames.com is a subsidiary of Age of Video II located in Torrington and Winsted Conn. The addresses are as follows:

Age of Video II
1151 Main Street
Torrington, CT 06790
860-496-1798

Age of Video II
120 Willow Street
Winsted, CT 06098
860-738-4336

We have been running Age of Video II in Torrington from 1987-present and our Winsted store 1991-present. As you can see we are no strangers to the retail environment.

8) I have purchased game(s) and sold game(s) on the same invoice. What happens now?
Since the game(s) you sold us reduced the total of your invoice, we cannot send you your game(s) until we received the game(s) you sold to us. Mail your games as quickly as possible to.

Lion Games
120 Willow street
Winsted CT
06098

9) I want to buy a game(s) and sell you a game(s) and I want the game(s) I buy right away.
In this case do 2 separate invoices. One for the purchases and one for the game(s) you are selling us. This way we don’t have to wait for your games to get to us before we send you the one you purchased.

10) Am I allowed to trade in so many games that Lion Games will owe me money?
Sure!!! You can even just sell us games without buying one yourself. If you want to sell us more then 10 games, shoot us an email first.

11) Will I be guaranteed the price Lion Games quoted me for my game?
As long as you represent the game condition that you are selling us accurately, we guarantee the price we quoted you on our website. Lion Games noticed some of our competitors have reserved their right to reduce the game(s) after they’ve received the game(s), if they feel the market has changed. We don’t do that. We also don’t put bogus prices on our website. We take a straight forward no nonsense approach to doing business. The only other thing we ask is for you to mail your game(s) to us within 5 business days.

12) An example of a trade-in scenario:

Metroid Prime is $34.99 with 2 trade-ins

Trade in Shadowrun for $25 and Fantastic 4 for $15 would give you $40 credit.

MP is $34.99 (with 2 trades) + $6.50 USPS priority - $40 credit would leave you with a balance due of $1.49.

13)When do I pay off my balance?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is about one month from the release date. Tony will send out an email stating when certain deals are ending and when your balance will need to be payed off

14) How do I upgrade my shipping?

If anyone wants to upgrade their shipping from first class to priority then you can just paypal me $1.50 to [email protected] Please include your invoice number in the comment section. It is $1.50 per game. Also after i make the change your invoice will still read first class but the amount that you actaully paid will be different and the amount paid for shipping is what i look at when i determine first class or priority.

Tony I hope you dont mind that I took some answers and question from your site
Priority mail is guaranteed 2-3 days. If you got it overnight then you probably lived close and got a bit lucky. Priority rarely gets there overnight so comparing it to overnight cost on another site isn't really fair.
I live an hour away. Thats why I also listed their price for 2-3 which is still $6.
I preordered three games at about $40 apiece a few months ago but haven't payed the balance.

Will I have to pay the full price??
No, you just have to pay the difference. E.g. If you threw down $10 for the BioShock preorder, you have to pay the extra 29.99 + 5 shipping within a month of the release, I believe. At least that's what I did.
I am shocked no one has an answer for the pre-order questions we are asking, and instead choosing to argue about whether or not people are getting a good deal or not.
Gotta' love the mentality.
By "all the preorder questions we're asking" I'm assuming you mean the one preorder question you're asking, since that's the only one I see.

This is pretty self-explanatory. When you go to the site and click on a game to pre-order, you will see three options. 1. $10 deposit, 2. pay balance (amount minus $10 deposit), 3. pay game in full.

I'm not sure where the confusing part of that is, but you have the option to either put down a $10 deposit and pay the rest off before it ships, or pay the full balance ahead of time. Your card (or at least mine was) will be charged immediately.

If you put down the deposit Tony will shoot you an email when the game is a month from release and ask you to pay off the balance using option 2 above.

If the game is within a month of release you will only have the option to pay in full, as is noted by the "pay $10 deposit" option no longer showing up for a game within a month of release.
Well, I sent them an email, so we'll see what he has to say.....
Thanks, looking forward to the emails.

vcize, no, I was just the most persistent.
3 other people have asked within their post, but it wasnt their priority in their post, more like secondary questions.
Thanks, though, that explains it completely.

But, if we make the 10 dollar deposit, and cant afford the game until 1 week before it's release, we still get the preorder exclusive cheap price, right?

Cant be self explanatory since multiple people are asking.

I just clicked "preorder" COD4. It took me to a page where I basically had to register all my information.
Billing, shipping, credit card.
I click continue, it purchases the game for 52.99

No where did I see make 10 dollar deposit.
And I am assuming I just paid for the game in it's entierity just now, which is the last thing I wanted to do.

Edit: yes, he just charged me 57.

Going through the site and checkout process I have come to this conclusion. It doesn't appear that any "Coming Soon" games are being preordered with a $10 deposit. People are probably confused with the site because so many others have been able to preorder for $10 and then payoff the balance later (the reason why you see the "Balance" and "Full Payment" options).

It seems obvious to me during the checkout process that you are about to be charged full price for the item. However, I am somewhat familiar with the site as I have been looking at it for the past few months now. I never purchased anything until a few days ago but I am at least aware that there were once $10 preorder options that are no longer on the site. The preorder for $10 option was tied to the "supercheap" deals the site was offering on games like Mass Effect, Bioshock, etc. Perhaps the $10 preorder option only occurs when these offers are made (please correct me if I am wrong here).

I could be totally offbase here so please correct anything I have said (not until you go through the site again, however). From what I am seeing, though, as obvious as it may seem to many of us, it seems understandable that others are getting confused.

The previous deals had some games with the $10 deposit option and you paid the balance when it got to within 30 days of the game's release. The current preorder deals do not use the deposit option. They all use the tradein deal.

Thanks, someahead33.
I'm glad you actually did research before you pull a Vcize, and tell people how simple it is when he clearly did not investigate the newer preorder games.

Whata disappointment. I guess I'll only go for COD4.

If it's a $10 deposit, it will specifically say DEPOSIT in giant letters.

Apparently it's not available for the newer games, which is why it does not say DEPOSIT in all caps next to it, and also why there is no "REMAINING BALANCE" option there either.
is the gta deal going to return since its been delayed and does this site take visa giftcards?
why not wait and see
is the gta deal going to return since its been delayed and does this site take visa giftcards?
The gift cards dont work well with my site. paypal processes all orders and they tell me the cant verify them so they dont accept them. If you have a gift card the best way would be select money order as a payment option. Go to the post office with the gift card and buy a money order and then send it to me.

As far as GTA 4 is concerned. I have had some people cancel their preorder. The only thing to keep in mind is I Probably wont ever sell that game for $42.99 again. So if you cancel more then likely you will be buying back at a much higher price down the road.
Tony how are you going to handle the big delay in GTA4? Are you going to refund deposits and prepayments or just hold the orders open?
I have no problem holdng the GTA 4 orders at the discounted price. I Also have no problem with refunds. Just keep in mind people who choose to cancel will probably pay a much higher price at a later date.
Although there are some great deals here, I just have to say that $5.00 shipping for (1) video game via USPS First-Class Mail is kinda a lot. I mean, today I sent both of my games in padded mailers and each cost only $1.81. Just felt that I had to say that.
My shipping cost is actually a shipping and handling fee combined. I suggest people who buy two used games pay only first class and I will upgrade those orders to priority. After 2 used games I will credit back 1/2 the shipping fee after two.

Tony cleared the confusion up via email.
I wasn't the only problem he is having with these $10 deposits, apparently, and hinted that he may not be doing that method in the future.
Still, worthwhile deals.
Remember, I had canceled my Mass Effect pre-order to get Halo 3 instead? Well, how about you, err, transfer one of those old pre-orders to my account...I'll gladly, gladly pay it. I was on the fence. :(

Let's not delude ourselves here folks by trying to justify the cost for the envelope, time, etc. He's listing most new releases at $7 under retail and making up about half that on shipping costs. There's not really anything wrong with it IMO and if you're aware of that and still want to save a couple bucks (no tax either) then no problem. $52.99 with $5 shipping just looks better on the page (especially since you don't see the shipping charge until later) than $55.99 with $2 shipping does.

I do the same thing on ebay with my buy it now auctions. I list them at a couple bucks under what they're generally going for and charge $4.99 or $5.99 for first class shipping. I have a nice little spreadsheet here telling me that I'm making money on that shipping cost, envelopes and time be damned.

It's no big deal, but as someone who has shipped nearly a thousand things over the past year or so (mostly video games and HD DVDs/Blu-rays so this is right up my alley) I can tell you that there is no case where it genuinely costs $5 to send a DVD case via First-class mail.
You know as well as I do there are many hidden cost that go into a handling fee. I can truely say my shipping and handling fees are break even at best. I lose on priority shipping with handling fee.
Ok Ok.

So I don't get why a lot of ya'll are saying that the trade deal is such a good deal?

Example:

Madden 2008 = $52.99 + Shipping - Still equals a ok deal but nothing great.

Now Madden 2008 with Trade in Two games = $42.99 + Shipping

Now you get to - the trade ins / Hitman Blood Money = $10 and Dead Rising = $10

So you'll be getting the game for 22.99 plus shipping.

But now if you just sold Hitman & Dead Rising on Ebay/Half/Amazon/CAG/etc you could make what about $20-$25 profit for each game. I'll just say $40.

Now Normal Price 52.99(plus Shipping) - $40(Cash that you made elsewhere) = 12.99 plus shipping

That seems like a way better deal. Might take a little more time but its worth it.

And you guys call yourselves Cheap Ass Gamers.......................
My thinking is ebay and amazon is pretty much a apin in the butt and you really dont know who you are dealing with on the other end. I feel my website offers one stop shopping for buying and selling games. It offers new games at near cost and used games at very good prices. I also am very quick to answer emails and most of all I feel my used customers know excatly what they are getting when they buy a game from me. I feel I can save people time and money which is a good thing.

True. The smallest Priority Shipping box with delivery confirmation is $5.25now. 1st class with a DC# runs around $2-$2.50 + a $0.50-$0.75 bubble mailer, basically $3 for 1st class.
My thinking is ebay and amazon is pretty much a apin in the butt and you really dont know who you are dealing with on the other end.
I'll agree that Ebay is a bitch.

I'm keeping my GTA4 pre-order with LG.com. $48-$49.50 shipped is a great price, and a $10 deposit is more than reasonable to ensure you get it week one of it's release.

How long does it take for our account/order to be updated?
It says we will be e-mailed when they get/review our games that we send in. I got delivery confirmation, and I checked it yesterday..and they were delivered yesterday..I know it's only been a day.. but just wondering really

Just had my trade-ins evaluated. Not surprising that my two GameFly purchases were the trade-ins that ended up being devalued (out of seven). Oh well, I should have probably scrutinized my games more closely. Love the site. Only thing that will kepp me from using it in the future is exclusive offers offered elsewhere such as the Eternal Sonata faceplate.

Damn, I can't wait for these games to come out. I keep telling myself I can wait for them to ship, but I'll probably end up driving 40 miles to get them on day one.

I must learn self-control.....

I just did my first order here. I traded in dead rising to get the MP3 deal. The trade in value for DR is $10. I get my confirmation email and they say they degraded the value (WTF it was mint) to... $10. Huh? It wasn't a typo cuz I checked my status at the site and it says i have $10 trade in credit. I am confused

George. I didnt downgrade your dead rising. The trade value was $10 and that is how much I credited your account. can you forward me the email you got that said i downgraded your game please? I am sure you got full credit for your game.

I got full credit, I checked on your website after I got the email. I just though it was kinda funny that the email said that the game was downgraded to the full value of $10. Just one of those weird little odd things. Didn't mean for it to come off as a big deal.
So with GTA being delayed is there any chance that deal will be coming back?
Wouldn't mind seeing more deals myself. Lots that I want to get this fall.

Has anyone ordered a used game in the "Good Condition"? It says the discs have some scratches. Are they big and noticeable or merely non effecting marks?

Paid off BioShock last night. I don't care how long it takes to get here, because my first day of college is the day after release, so I might not have time for it.

College? Sounds like you'll have plenty of time for it.

Yeah, for sure. Now that I'm out in the "real world", I wish I had as much gaming time as I did in college. You can skip classes...you can't skip work (well, you can but you'll get fired, and that's pretty counterproductive seeing as you need to work to support your gaming habit).
is BIOSHOCK going to ship before street date?
My guess right now is Bioshock ships on street date. Take Two really doesnt bend over backwards to make sure my distributor receives their product early enough to get retailers like me my product a day early. It is really two bad some of the game publishings think this way. my distributor will need to get his product by wednesday for me to get mine on friday and then I could ship it on monday. I think halo 3 and mass effect I have a much better chance of getting early. We will see what happens

Sven, is this your first year?? I am guessing it is, because you have it all wrong... You will have more time than ever before. I thought the same thing at first last year when I started my freshman year of college...

and then my hall had 16 player GRAW tourneys all day on Thursdays and Fridays. lol

Great, cant wait for it to arrive

If you're starting college you will have more than enough time to slaughter Halo 3, Bioshock, and Mass Effect along with Madden 2008 if all of those titles strike you. Freshman year is usually ridiculously easy.

Of course, do check the attendance policies of your classes before you start missing any. Unfortunately, a lot of my own students fail to do this and despite the fact that I bring it up weekly, some students end up either nearly failing the class or totally fail the class just because they haven't shown up.

And if you're further on in your schooling, such as Junior/Senior year or grad school...well, you are already at the point where you can either get your gaming in or you can't. ;)

Oh, and keep up the fine work, Tony. I loved my used copy of Burnout Revenge a few months back and I'm sure the Halo 3 preorder is going to go out swimmingly. Now I have to check your prices on a few more used titles, just for kicks!
