I tried unloading some crap in one store but they called the DM and the DM said that the games had to be at least $6 in trade in value each and took an hour to ring my games up.... YEAH RIGHT! thats not the advertised deal... so I took the bus to the other eb 5 minutes away and got my trade ins done in around 5 minutes and got the credit I deserved.

No more other eb for me.
Got 80 in credit off 20 shitty xbox games (Maf Hoffman 2, Tony Hawk, etc etc).

Got Beatmania and a Shadow Hearts: From the New World strategy guide for $3 out of pocket.

Awesome deal... I'm gonna look for more ebay worthless games to try and snag Guitar Hero for very cheap.
did any of the crappy games trade in for more than $1 or $2 before the extra credit?
did any of the crappy games trade in for more than $1 or $2 before the extra credit?
Actually, a majority of them got around $2 - $3, some even $4 - $6. Only a few, like the THPS titles, got around 75 cents... same with Max Payne.

Nah, I think you'll get a buck or two.

Can the OP change the title of this thread to actually reflect this deal? I imagine alot of CAG's have a ton of fodder garbage they want to get rid of, and I expected this thread to be booming, but maybe people don't realize this sale is going on?

I myself found another 10 games to trade, hoping to find another 10 (shouldn't be TOO hard) and then I know those, plus the extra credit, is enough for Guitar Hero.

Bleh 5 games for the extra 10.00? Guess it's good if you have a lot of fodder. I remember last year this time they had trade in 3 and get 10.00 extra. I got about 450.00 trade in credit that day

Hmmm...I'm thinking of taking Prince of Persia WW (PS2), Star Ocean TTeoT (no manual...), Time Crisis 3 (without guncon), Nightshade, and Resident Evil 0....those games arent worth too much, right? Would the Gamestop deal or FYE be in my best interest?

Depends upon what you wanted... you'll probably get $25 in credit at GS.

Thats fine with me since that is close to what I paid for them...(PoP for $8 on BF, Time Crisis 3 for $7, Star Ocean (free from friend), RE0 ($5 from pawn shop), and Nightshade (same pawn shop, $6.50 I think).

Hmm.. How much would I get for 2x Ping Pals , Ridge Racer DS, Sprung ? Can we mix and match or do they have to be from one system . Also, do they need to be complete to trade in or can they be like game only.

I've got tons of crap games...

Powerdrone Racing, Project Eden, Drake of the 99 Dragons , Rogue Ops, Enter the Matrix.

I've traded in game only to Gamestop before, so you should be fine unless they recently changed policy...I'm going to be trying today to trade in a game only game so I'll let you know how that goes.

I just went to my local EB and Gamestop and neither had any knowledge of the trade 5 get and extra $10 or any of the other trade in deals. They also denied any knowledge of upcoming deals as well.

Is there a starting date to this deal that I'm missing somewhere?

Because I just burned some gas for nothing.
When does the trade in deal end?
I was told it would probably be a month long thing.

I know pretty much all the guys at the local Gamestop... for some reason the trades didn't ring up the extra $10 automatically. Luckily the manager knew about the deal (they had signs up everywhere), and his DM told him to just add $2 to each trade-in when he called to check if it started.

It started 4-13, it should go well into May.

Try ditching Drake at an fye first (its at least $8). The ps2 version of Powerdrome is at least $9 (the xbox version isn't in the system).

Ping Pals is $.75 at GS/EB/

I have:
Cold Fear (PS2)
Dead to Rights (GC)
Fantavision (PS2)
Red Faction 2 (PS2)
Spawn: Armageddon (PS2)

will they take them and around how much will they give; total.

They will take anything... no exclusions except for old sports and wrestling games.

As to much credit you'll get... at least $20.

If you do take in Cold Fear, post up how much it gets, since its in a big stack of games I have to trade.

Awesome, thanks for letting me know.

I never even got around to opening mine, but I figured after seven months of owning it I probably never will.

I have a ton of games that I could trade in but I am considering selling them off at a garage sale in the summer for $5-$15. Took advantage of the deal today.... Like the poster a couple posts up said, Gamestop definately increased their trade-in price on scrub games... heres what i traded (all ps2) and here is what I got for each (all prices are 2 dollar increase for the trade 5 deal)

Devil Kings 11.00
Mega Man X Collection 13.00
Guilty Gear Isuka 10.00
Capcom Classics Collection 11.00
We Love Katamari 14.00
Street Fighter Anniversary 11.00
Bujingai 6.00
DBZ: Budokai 3 8.00
Midway Arcade Treasures 7.00
King of Fighters: Maximum Impact 9.00
Neo Contra 6.00
DMC3: SE 11.00
Wrath Unleashed 5.00
Star Ocean 3 9.00
Getaway Black Monday 6.00
Killer 7 6.00
VF4: Evolution 5.00
Duel Masters 4.50
Beyond Good & Evil 5.00
Sonic Heroes (xbox) 8.00

For a total of 165.50. Since most of them were disc only, I think I made out pretty well.

1. I just went through a few peoples posts and I think that WITH THE DEAL, you will get back in credit ROUGHLY (give or take a dollar or two) 50% of what they sell the game for used.

Hopefully this little relevation helps out some people who just are not sure about what they will recieve in store credit.

2. Also, does EB now do the extra +10% pre-order bonus on trade-ins like Gamestop does? If so then I might just pre-order a game and get it for over half off with that nice little 10% add on!

3. I think, after seeing how I would recieve roughly 50% of selling price, that I will trade in 45 games for about $300 in store credit. I'm happy with that though, as they would be sitting on my shelf as soon as I leave for college. Hopefully EB does not give me a hard time in trading in all of them as disc-only. I plan on keeping everything but the disc. No sense in trading in to these places anything more than I need to. Payback for all the hard times is fair in my book.

Good point, I might trade in a bunch of disc only games now. Thanks for the idea.

You can trade in disc only but sometimes they hit you with the "refurbish fee", which is $2.

They wanted to charge me that because I didn't have a case and the game literally had one small scratch.

I just went to another eb and they didn't care at all.

heh, this thread brings back memories of the gold old days of everyone posting trade in values for the good deals. Probably as close as we're gonna get for now.

You mean this golden oldie?

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67924

There was another that was more trade price oriented (this was to compile the infamous POX list) but this had trade prices as well.

So GS really upped their lower end trade values? I might have to consider giving it a shot with 5 games as my GR trade credit becomes more and more useless each day. Damn them for not bringing back the extra $5 per game though. That was a nice (EB) promo...

Yeah, EB's are supposed to charge a $2 fee if the game doesn't come with a case but since this is new, there are some employees that don't know about it yet.

Your probablly right. I'm largely getting out of the collecting game (or rather not collecting everything under the sun anymore) and this deal is working great. I'm even getting the bonus with sports games and jampacks.

Jampacks?. Now, I have a few of the 99 cent ones from Best Buy sitting around... Hmmm... Is it automatic now or are people still having to get the credit added manually? I'm talking EB's here (want to add it to my Edge card). If it is automatic and jampacks work then I'll go for it. I just know that they will exclude them if it has to be done manually though.

OK people, break out those receipts and post those trade-in values. What did you get for the Jampacks Strider? We need to make this like the thread evophile mentioned - get a running list of trade values. Then people can go through their collections and maybe find a game or two that get more than they would expect.

yeah, it has to be done manually I think since that is the way the cashier took in all of my trades for the bonus. I'll post the Jampack prices as soon as I get the reciept.

edit: Some price before the bonus

Jampack 11-.50
18 Wheeler --$4
NFL 2k3 .05 (LOL!)
Dynasty Warriors 5 $17
Timesplitters $1.50
GT3 .15
Dragonball Z Budokai 3 $6
Rise of the Kasai $6
Genji $8

xbox
Catwoman $2.50
Startsky and Hutch $1.50 (bought this at best buy for $1.99 just to even the trade in)
Outlaw Volleyball Red Hot .10
Outlaw Golf 9 More Holes of X-mas .10
Rallisport Challenge 2 $1
Unreal II $1.50
Robotech $1
Nightfire 007 $1
Splinter Cell .25
Top Spin/NCCA .15
Group S Challenge $1
Fable $3

Gamecube
Midway Arcade Treasure 3 $6 (Played this for a few days before ditching, $1.99 at best buy)
Geist $5

Thank God for that bonus $2!

Yeah thats the one. Those were the days. And the good old POX list.

Interesting that Rise of the Kasai only gets $6 when they sell it for $24.99, so it just must be some of the lower ones that got raised.

Hilarious to see some 15 cent and 5 cent trade ins.

i went to GS to trade in my 5 games. I asked the guy do i get $10 extra if i trade in 5 games. he was like trade 4 games not 5. i asked him if he takes WWE games. he said yea.

i trade in:
Fantavision (PS2) $1.50
Wrestlemania 19 (GC) $4
Red Faction 2 (PS2) $2.50
Spawn: Armageddon (PS2) $3

after $10 i got $21. so i bought Brain Age!!! i might go back and return some other crap.

Ok, so it's not quite the 5 cents for NFL 2K3, but I found another pathetic trade-in price. Powerdrome fetches 10 cents - but I noticed they sell it for $2.99 so I guess with the $2 bonus that's a good deal :D.

Here's what I ended up trading (thinking back I should have done Powerdrome but the 10 cent quote made me keep it for some reason):

Turok Xbox: $1
Mission Impossible PS2: $1
Rogue Ops PS2: $1
Eye Toy Groove: $3
Metal Arms: $3

Total, with bonus: $19. Not bad for games I paid $1 - $3 for.

I just made 154.85 off of a $149 total investment for 30 games. Although, I got a little less than what I hoped for, I can't complain about saving so much time by just giving it to the employee instead of ebay. Although, I was NOT allowed to trade in ANY racing games, aside from MC3, which is dumber than all hell. I'll be going to a different store later on this week or next to trade my last 15 in though.

Here is the list of what I recieved for those games with bonus added in:

Mark Davis Pro Bass Fishing PS2 6
Strike Force Bowling PS2 6
Beat Down Fists of Vengance Xb 9
Enter the Matrix Xb 2.5
Pariah Xb 7
CoD:Finest Hour Xb 5
XIII Xb 3
Constantine Xb 5
Monopoly Party Xb 10
BiA:Road to Hill 30 Xb 6
Robotech Battlecry Xb 3
Jet Set Radio Future Xb 3.5
SW Starfighter SE Xb 4.5
Myst III Exile Xb 6
Mojo Xb 4.5
King of Fighters PS2 9
Smuggler's Run PS2 2.75
Goldeneye Rogue Agent PS2 4.5
Midway Arcade 2 PS2 8
Tao Feng Xb 3.5
Mark of Kri PS2 3
Midnight Club 3 Xb 5
Kung Fu Chaos Xb 6
Harvest Moon Save the Homeland Xb 10
Sega GT/JSRF Xb 2.1
Seek & Destroy PS2 3.5
Starsky & Hutch PS2 3
Midway Arcade 2 Xb 5
Raze's Hell Xb 4.5
Armed & Dangerous Xb 4

Oh, and I should say extreme YMMV on the Jampacks as the guy looked in the computer and read off the specific exclusions - no sports 2005 or older, no wrestling, and NO DEMOS. This was at an EB.

Trade in price After bonus $2 each
Starsky & Hutch PS2 3
Midway Arcade 2 Xb 5
Rogue Ops xbox: $3
Metal arms ps2 $5
covvette ps2 $3
Soul calibure II xbox $4
chicago enforcer xbox $5
Riddick Xbox $3
Rise of the Kasai $8
covvette xbox $3.50

Since Everyone else is posting what they got for prices I might as well too:

Nightshade- $3.30
Ghost In the Shell (PS2)- $6.60
Prince of Persia WW- $9.90
Resident Evil Outbreak File 2- $8.80
Star Ocean: TTeoT- $7.70

When my car gets out of the shop, I'm heading over to eb. $5 for metal arms is sweet, but GT3 for 15 cents is just plain bogus.

A couple weeks back I traded in a disc only FF origins and they offered $6 credit which was better than I thought they would offer. I took the cash and bought FF dawn of souls for $10 at TRU. They just ask for ID.

If you knew how many copies of GT3 each GS/EB had in stock, you'd feel fortunate you were getting atleast .15. Those trade in prices like that aren't there to rip people off, they are there trying to dissuade the trade-ins on those titles.
