Please tell me I'm not an idiot!

Hoooooly hell... this is just sad. Sorry man.... at least you're not like my old roommate who sent his laptop to the UK after falling for a nigerian 419 scam.

Hey man, let's not be harsh. The economy's tough and sometimes you get excited for a sweet deal.

Good call on not leaving feedback yet and disputing this already. These types of "sellers" are the scum of the earth.
It's officially a scam... I just got this response from the seller:

"If you leave feedback to us,
We can ship item to you after we receive it.
But you don't leave feedback,we ship item within 21 days because paypal hold money 21 days.
Please leave feedback to us,Thank you"

Will be starting a Paypal dispute shortly.
It probably is a scam but paypal does have a policy that not a lot of people know about where they will hold certain payments for 21days and release it to seller's account once either +feedback is left or tracking shows delivered. It's usually done in transactions that they deem to have high fraud rates and with newer sellers. The seller is supposed to still ship you the item while paypal locks the money for 21days to ensure its delivered.

Just copy their email to paypal and escalate it since the seller is still supposed to ship even with paypal's lock on the funds and they already stated they are not going to ship until you help them circumvent paypal's protection.

Exactly. This scammer wants you to leave the feedback now, so the funds can be transferred, and he can cut and run.
Thus why I didn't pretend to be original like the rest did and admitted that it had been said before. Regardless, I still stand by my statement.

I have a perfect condition PSP 2000 with customer firmware and an extra battery. PM me if you are interested in it. =)
...

Well... PayPal will likely cover your ass so you should get your money back. And at least you didn't blindly believe this was a real deal.
I have a perfect condition PSP 2000 with customer firmware and an extra battery. PM me if you are interested in it. =)
Well... if and when this deal doesn't work out with this person I will let you know. I am guessing this is going to take a month + to work out. Like I told the seller, if they send me the PSP in New condition, I will retract all of my previous statements and give them raving reviews. My guess is that will not happen though and HOPEFULLY I will get my $110 back.

Please let me know what version of PSP you have and how much you want for it :)

Too bad, OP. I think most of us have to get scammed or have a friend scammed in some way, however small, to realize there are thieves out there, and they're common.

I was 14. I was playing an online MMO called Gunbound, which I bet is still in existence, though I stopped once they introduced a bunch of pay-to-acquire goods. In that game, you earned gold as XP for killing others and as a match bonus, IIRC. You could then buy armor and costumes and such. You could then gift these items to others, and trades were then viable.

One random game, a random enemy randomly asked me to trade. His offer was good, and I wanted what he had to trade. I asked why he would do that, and IIRC, he "shrugged," and said because he was nice. He then made me send first. My friend warned me, but I wanted to trust the guy.

Better for it to be make-believe currency than something at all of material value.

yep, Gunbound is still around. i used to play it years ago. i actually recently tried to log in and play, but it said my account was deleted. i guess if you stop playing for 4 years, they will do that to you. :applause:
I just opened a paypal dispute with this message:

"I am opening this now so that I can protect myself from the possibility of not receiving the product. Your response has thrown up many red flags as I know for a fact that Paypal doesn't wait 21 days to clear payments when they are sent directly through paypal. Also asking for me to give you feedback before receiving the item is against ebay policies.

If I receive a the *NEW* PSP as described in your auction, this dispute will go away. If I do not receive the PSP in a within 30 days I will escalate this to the highest authority given. I will also make sure that ebay knows about your shady practices.

If my assumptions are completely wrong and you are a stand up seller, I will revoke everything I have said and will give you the highest praise possible on ebay. Something tells me this is not going to happen though.

Best Regards,
-Jon"
take my advice, just follow through on the dispute and don't give him the month to do anything. chances are, it's already over and you're not getting it. file the claim and get your money back asap and trade with a fellow CAG here.

good luck, buddy.

you generally shouldnt buy expensive electronics stuff online from asia cause most of it will be fake. im from hong kong and there is so much fake stuff there, but of course some people don't want to pay the full price, and in my experience the pirated stuff works =p and its cheap! Most of the times the real electronics are found in department stores, even then you need to be careful. In person I'd buy electronics in asia, but not online (unless you actually want fake stuff)

anyways you should be covered by paypal right? so not all hope is lost.

I can tell you now. You won't get your PSP, but you WILL get your money back because seller doesn't have the money, paypal does.

This is the exact same thing that happened when I bought my PSP last Oct. I made a thread about it below.

EDIT:

Looks like seller has already been banned from eBay.

there is really no need for that. he made a mistake, he's human. don't like it? GTFO.

Sweet... Now I just have to wait a week before I can escalate to a claim or will that be taken care of automatically now that he is banned?

And I don't take offense when someone calls me names on the internet. People love to hid behind the anonymity of the internet. Whatever makes them feel better about themselves cause it isn't worth my time or effort to be offended.

Damn, I was really hoping for an unboxing. Those bastards could have at least sent you a POPStation for your trouble. Boy was that thing a pile of shit...I think I have 20-25 year old Tiger handheld games with more depth and playability than that thing.

And this one guy at the flea market wants $25 for it! He said he sees them go for $200 at department stores, and he thinks it's a fair price

NEVER buy anything electronic from another country... especially when it's coming from somewhere in ASIA.

There's a reason they're so so so cheap.

lol... thanks for the vote of confidence. On a lighter note... HOLY CRAP shrike? How do you have so many trades on CAG? Do you own a game store or something? Forgive me if I'm out of the loop.
