Pondering a 360...and the hole in my wallet

So I've been putting off buying anything since I got my gamecube, geez two years ago I guess. PC gaming has fallen thru for me, nothing good anymore really. So 360 seems logical. It seems most everytihng is 360/PS3. Not a fan of the Wii. Anyway. So lets say I get a new 360 from gamestop or EB or whatever, I'd probably trade in my GC with 12 or so games, and my DS with 6 or so GBA games, not expecting much. Maybe $100 credit all said and done. Maybe. *shrugs* Anyway. I'd like to take Gears of War home that day but I think the price will shy me away, I dont like paying more then $20 (before tax har har) for any games. So, what can I expect to come home with on my first day. Or...Should I wait a bit more and hold out and maybe something is coming down the pipeline? I've been out of the loop for consoles, price drops etc. Thanks a ton guys.

I had this delema over xmas and thank god for the Microcenter deal because that hole wasn't as big as it could've been. Even if it was full price I still think it's worh getting, I haven't really had a game I didn't like yet. I'm up to 10 games already.

if you don't like paying more than 20 bucks for a game get an xbox. the first one, it has a lot of great games you've missed out on.

IMO, if its a concern that will hurt your wallet...than wait...if your dying to play next gen and dont mind the hit and can some how recover from it..than do it. I got mine 2-3 weeks ago thanks the helpful CAGs here. i heard nothing but good things about and now i can atest to that. they are still games out there that are pretty cheap besides Gears on the 360. COD 2,Burnout,Fight Night, and Need for speed..are all platinum hits with DOA 4 making its way..when ever that will be...but anyway those titles are 30 bucks and well in your range..on top of that if you want mediocre games than Rumble roses and the Outfit and Ridge Racer 6 are about 20 bucks. for next gen..you have to be willing to pay alot to recieve alot which really sucks but thats buisness for you.

if i were you i would wait for a trade in deal that nets you a big gain for your stuff. you will get alot for the DS but the GC is little. i would say atleast 125-175 depending what games you are trading in. I hope one day they return the trade 3 and get an extra 10 dollars..that will bump your credit enough to make the premium look cheap..

You might want to wait until the fall when supposedly an updated system is coming out and maybe a price drop on the premium.

i wouldnt buy the sytsem at gamestop or eb..use the credit for other things like games, accessories. buy the system elsewhere where u can get a better deal like no tax.

Depending on the games I'd say that you could finance a lot more than $100 from the stuff that you have. Just list it on CAG or online. I know it seems like a hassle but you'd probably be able to get 175-200 for everything.

Thanks, that gives me alot to think about this weekend while I'm working, haha. Just an Xbox sounds interesting, although I'm just wondering about what games to get, as not all of them are playable on the 360. I would finally get to play Halo though. Although you can play that on 360 no? Anyway. Lot to think about. Thanks.

You could also just use your old games and consoles as trade bait here on the trading forums instead of trading them for 2-3$ at a store. I started trading for 360 games right after I bought mine and I have a collection of 8 games already. Only two of them were bought in the store, the rest were traded for.
Get the 360 and use Gamefly, best thing I've ever done.
With gamefly. Do the disc's ever skip or come unplayable? Also just now looking to see where I could get a xbox, doesnt seem like many online stores carry it anymore.

i have a friend that uses gamefly and it seems like it works great for him. i however like to collect my games so i rather just save up and buy a game every so often.

Well maybe for me at least. Last game I liked was Oblivion. I'm just saying it seems that the PC gets less and less each year. That RE4 port looks just terrible but then again maybe it was just because it was leaked? Who knows. Also with PC gaming, every new games pushes just a little bit so you need to plop down $1500 average every 2-3 years just to play some of the new games. I doubt I could play Crysis with any good settings on.
