PONG and ATARI Creator a Reality Tv Star!?

CAGiversary!
Someone told me that Nolan Bushnell is going to be a judge on a new reality show called Made in the USA. Did a little searching and found the official site. Looks pretty interesting. Definitely NOT Survivor-esque.

It doesn't say what the inventions are but if Bushnell is involved I'll definitely give it a chance. Anyone else heard about this one? Maybe I should start inventing! I bet I'd be pretty damn good at it.

My wife thought I was crazy when I popped at seeing him in the commercial for this show.

"But honey, he started Atari!"
Nolan Bushnell also started Chuck-e-Cheese too.

Man.....Is this a fun guy or what?
Obviously you've never seen him do an interview ;)

Yeah, he kind of comes off as a jerk in interviews. Also, he didn't really invent Pong. He ripped it off.

I've never seen him do an interview but sounds like he's a character, at least... should be an entertaining judge.

I'm definitely going to check out the premiere tonight. Gotta give a nod to the "Godfather," as my buddy calls him.

I didn't really have any feelings about him either way. The videogame companies screwed him over, but he was partially successful when he tried to screw them all back by using an overly broad patent to shut down budding video game companies (the idea being that his company would grant technology licences and watch the money roll in. Microsoft does this all the time, and Sco used the software equivelent of it in their SCO vs IBM case)

However I did think it was cool when the interviewer asked him if he was bitter about recognition of his invention or the money, and he said that he wasn't because family was more important. You don't see many CEOs with the same perspective

anyone catch the premiere last night? i thought bushnell was HYSTERICAL. and i love that the nfl players made it to the final round!

Yeah, I watched it last night. Not too bad of a show. There are a few inventions on there where I wonder, kind of like American Idol, if they won't work with them and buy the invention after the show anyway.

A couple of months ago i also ready Nolan was working on opening a chucky cheese type restaraunt for adults...obviously without the "tubes" and such. Just with interactive games while you wait for your food, things like that.

We had a restaurant here for a while called Pizza King. The food sucked ass the one time I went, but they had a small train deliver the drinks...ooooo. Anyway, the point of this was, they had Sega at the tables. I think it was a different game per table, and it cost a quarter to play for so many minutes. The thing that really sucked was the controllers were glued down to the far two corners of the table so you couldn't get a good hold on them.

I wondered that too... It may end up being a win-win for everyone involved. But a year-long marketing contract with HSN? That's pretty huge... even more so than the million bucks you win on other reality shows. That could make your invention EXPLODE and get you set for life.

Oh, hell yeah. Especially since some of these that wouldn't have even been known that millions of women sitting at home watching HSN will buy. This show is good exposure for the inventors anyway, because it at leasts get them seen. Unfortunately, it also makes way for people to rip off their great idea and claim it as their own.

Not really- what better proof that you thought of it first than an episode of a widely-seen reality TV show? It wouldn't be that hard to file a lawsuit....

True, but people can take the same idea and make just enough changes to it to pretend like it's theirs.

I'm sure USA got all this covered before contestants were even allowed to audition. From what I understand, most inventors are pretty religious about patenting their products anyway.

I feel like I have to decide who I'm rooting for before tomorrow's episode. Right now, it's a toss up between the self-hydrating shoulder pads (I actually thought about that a lot while watching the games this weekend) and the quad zipper. Who's with me?

I'm interested to see how the shoulder pads hold up when they beat the shit out of them in the next episode. I'm sure they've thought of some way to prevent it, but it seems highly likely that it will burst or squirt water everytime they get tackled or something.

You know, they say that the "Quad-zipper," will be revolutionary and such, but I'd like to see different used for it. I mean, wow, you can now more easily tuck your arms into your shirt. I can so the same with my shirt without the zippers. Good idea, they just need to figure out how to make it more practical.

They said in last week's episode that one of the inventors might be coming back. I think that baby-stroller/carseat invention was a pretty decent idea. The problem I see with that one is, carseats are a bitch to put in and no one is going to want to take it out and put it back in the car with all that hassle. Most people I know just have their carseats in permanently and would probably rather carry a stroller in the trunk than to have to take the carseat out and save space.

Did you catch last night's ep? What did you think of the "egg" challenge? I love that they got the supersoaker dude to come in!

Yeah, it was pretty cool. I hate that fucking Waterfall couple. I'm so glad they got axed.

Like everyone keeps telling them, they have a revolutionary product, which is the plant. The waterfall is fucking stupid. Put the plant stuff to better use. Yet they kept saying, "Yeah the plant product is the real product, just as long as they realize that we want the waterfall to go with it."

WHO CARES!?! It's a fucking stupid ass waterfall. You have a revolutionary product and you are limiting it to a stupid waterfall that won't sell. Listen to the fucking inventors, morons!
