Heavy Weapon takes a bit of work to figure out (What with the mouse-only control scheme), and at times it just drags on a bit longer than it needs to, but all in all is an excellent shooter.

The balancing and pacing is a lot better on the PC as the 360's dual-analog scheme gives you too much power.

Also, the demo will trick you, the game's difficulty ramps up somewhat similar to Red Star, but not as impressively or sexily. It will be a ball-buster by the endgame.

For $5, you should definitely consider this one, especially if you are a fan of teh old sk00lz.

Only negative? Apart from a few exceptions (The Robotnik-style wrecking ball and a few awesome communist-styled ones), the bosses just aren't that impressive, but the white knuckle normal gunplay will keep you going for sure, a sure-fire reversal of the balance of most shmups.

Yea, I'll second the whole "getting used to the mouse only controls" bit. I've had so many needless deaths in that game due solely to the fact that I'm trying to shoot enemies, yet also wanting to back the hell up. I suppose you can kinda-sorta do that by lowering the cursor to the very bottom of the screen...but that's pretty counter-intuitive in a game like this.

Still, I'd call it a good value at 5 bucks.

Given that the code here isn't long enough to fill up the spaces needed for an XBLA game's code, I'll say 'no', it doesn't work for the 360 rendition.
Does this work on the XBL version?
Of course not, same way the free Bejeweled for Mother's Day didn't translate over into Live.

nah, just saying this game is fun

I agree with you there! I played the 360 demo, and was surprised at how far they let you get. I think I must have played at least half of the game before I ran out of lives. Maybe more. The only thing I was missing was the Achievements. That was one generous demo.

Note: Like any good 80s era shmup, once you beat the final level, Killingrad, you are sent back to the beginning and play through it again, so the length is at least twice what it appears to be. You keep (And continue to expand) your powerups, and the enemies and bosses are scaled up to continue the challenge

I recommend spending (roughly) the MS points equivalent and getting it on 360, if you own one. Same game, but you get achievements on the 360. Yep, I'm becoming an achievement whore.
