Possible ESPN NFL 2k5 deal

CAGiversary!
I was reading on the gamefaqs boards that ebgames has an in store deal that when you trade in any 2 non-sports ps2 or xbox titles they give you espn fottball for free. I have not confirmed it but i'm going to try later this week.

Eh...preorder only? And does the game go in stock today or tomorrow?

And if they dont accept the games I bring...well, best buy is 5 minutes away...heh
The game is on sale right now! I may go pick it up on lunch. If you guys missed out on the EB trade in, you must go the Target raincheck route. $12 is all I have to say.
:? You sure it's on sale right now? Figured it would be tomorrow. I'll have to make some phone calls, if that's the case.

Hmmm, from what I've read, everything has been pointing to a July 20th release. I haven't heard anything about it releasing on the 21st.

I woke up early to get a headstart on ESPN, but after making a few calls it seems no one has it.

EB is selling non-preorders tomorrow (Weds.) and BB said to expect it on the 30th. So yeah. :(

July 20th is the ship date. Most stores are supposed to get it on the ship date but aren't actually allowed to sell the game until the day after.

Well, I called my Gamestop and Target. GS said they start selling tomorrow and the idiot at Target had no idea when they will. He said they usually get games two or three days late and that it should be there by Friday.

Ok well i just got back from my EB. You have to trade it in as a preorder, so basically anytime before the game comes in. I traded off THPS4 and DbZ: Budokai for it, and it's coming in at 5 pm tonight.

I just went to my eb to do this and here is how I made out.
I traded Nfl Fever 2004 and MVP Baseball 2003. I am happy, fever was given to me by a friend and I paid 5.99 for mvp from their website. It was also weird because the system said they owed me a penny so I got a preorder paid for the game and a penny. lol

I tried going the raincheck route, but the paper they gave me says nothing about 40% off anything.

So I went over to nearby EB and traded in Roadkill and Godzilla per my original plan and only had to pay a dollar plus some change. I think I did pretty well. Can't wait till tomorrow. :)

Dude, that's because you have to get a cashier to scan it and then they will give you the raincheck. All the little piece of paper from the game is is something the cashiers scan.

Then when you look at the raincheck, you can see the discount. :D

Just called two EB games around me, to see which i can trade. One EB i called said the deal ends today and one worker at another EB said the deal is till the end of the month. So i'll probaly trade in my games tommorrow and pick up the game then.

just got back from ebgames, wouldn't take espn hocky 2k4 or twisted metal black online. the guys there were acting like asswipes and patronizing me so there is a customer service call and boycott in the works.

They took Dead to Right and Brute Force for me. The trade in value for those game is 1 dollar for dead to right and 1.50 for Brute Force lol. They added 17.50 for me.

mine were 3 bucks each for crazy taxi 3 and bloodrayne both for xbox. they added 14 dollars. not bad cause i really got like 10 each and I got both at CC. so basically I got espn 2k5 for 10 bucks w00t

I got 2k5 for 5 bucks. ;) Anyway, were they supposed to make the total of the trade-in value equal $19.99 or the actual amount after tax?

If this thread is any indication I see a butt load of ESPN NFL games moving. I don't know how this $19.99 game thing can't work out and make a dent in the Madden lead. Too many people know the 2K/ESPN games kicked butt but have always bought Madden and continued to do so.

I think this radical strategy may work. Guess we'll know around August 20th when the July NPD's come out.

Grave, the girl at the service desk only gave me a 'guest copy' that says SORRY WE ARE OUT OF: at the top. There's nothing on it to scan. In fact the only thing on there is the contact info she made me write on it.

Then they're idiots because "Twisted Metal Black" isn't that common. I don't think Sony made many copies of that since they only come with the first shipment of the Network Adapter.

you guys were lucky, the clerks at my place were dicks and basically told me to go to hell and that they weren't going to take anything but top notch games. they were expecting something like....ninja gaiden and ncaa 2005 or something. they were also pretty much calling me stupid for buying sprts games every year because they were saying that they only buy the old sports games for 3 dollars. 10 minutes later one clerk asks teh other if he has mvp 2004 and he said yes, god what assmunches.

I'm not worried i just saw that target is selling espn 2k5 for 15.88. i plan to price match from best buy and use that 5 dollar off coupon on live enabled games.

Actually I think that the Twisted Metal Black online thing comes with the Greatest Hits version now, not sure though cause I got the network adapter thing. That could be why they wouldn't let you trade it, maybe they only saw it as a bonus disk that comes with a game, who knows. Sorry I don't mean to defend EB, screw em just get your game at Target or BB, or trade in games somewhere else.

The bad part about that is that you have to wait for maybe 7-30 for it.

It's really YMMV, but from what I've gathered from the boards today, the concensus is that it'll be there on the 30th.

Hmmm, all the Targets I have been to usually have a raincheck stub right under the game that is sold out. You have to ask an associate for it, they scan it, then the raincheck comes out.

I guess yours may do business a bit different, though,

There's no one ever around the electronics section, so I asked the service desk. What does the raincheck stub look like? They just have the sign up promoting the sale price and that's it.

Picking up the game tommorrow. Went and traded in Rayman Revolution and Street Fighter EX3 with no problem. The clerk was really nice and we even had a good long video game talk.

I took a stack of 8 games yesterday and was surprised that they would accept 5 of them.

I ended up using Freaky Flyers and Dr. Muto and was told the game would be there today. (Better be!) I was completely shocked when the guy said Freaky Flyers was okay.

If I remember right they wouldn't accept:
Buffy Chaos Bleeds
Quantum Redshift
Blood Omen 2

They would accept:
Freaky Flyers
Dr. Muto
Vexx
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
Genma Onimusha

Though I think each EB store can set their own list of excluded titles.

The raincheck stub is just a small piece of paper that has a big barcode on it and instructions for the cashier. It says on it that it isn't a raincheck and that you have 30 days after the sale ends to still get the discount. All the cashiers do is scan it, then the real raincheck comes out.

great news! i went to the ebgames across town and they took espn hockey and my friend gave me a copy of bloodrayne. he said i owe him a cup of coffee for the game so i can live with that. he also apologized for the other store and so i have a copy of espn 2k5 huzzah!

I traded in Beyblade and Kelly Slater Pro Surfer for ESPN for Xbox.
Also traded in IHRA Drag Racing 2004 and SpyHunter 2 for $20 credit towards Fable.

I bought all of those games for $5 from BB and CC and they all sucked.

The cashier had to type it into the computer, but lo and behold a raincheck printed out. I tried using it on an Xbox controller but no dice. I'm still thinking what game to get.

Thanks for the tip!

I jus got in from EB, I traded in Dino Crisis 3, the Thing and Dead to Rights...got the game and $10 store credit.

Pretty good considering i'm gettin $30 for $15...

I traded in ESPN NFL Football (2K4) and ESPN College Hoops for ESPN 2K5, so some sports games do work (don't hesitate to give it a shot).
