I got this from EB Games. I ordered online last week. This cartridge comes from China and looks different than the American release cartridge, do you think this is pirated games? If so, I am appalled that EB doesn't screen for pirated games :(

The game works, but the password shows up in a Flash that I can't even get a chance to jot it down. So, it is a little defective :(

Wow that's weird! I have the American GB Burgertime, and the password screen is definitely supposed to stay up until you press a button. It's just strange that EB would send a non-American copy of the game.

You guys are forgetting that this is EB, the company that re-seals used games as new. I have absolutely no respect for EB anymore, and I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those stores; not only because they suck ass, but becase of the people you usually see in there (disgusting and hideous nerds and goths, and their stores themselves are very bleh).

Well, this is my first EB bash, off topic, but I had to vent a little. They are pretty crap. I ordered a n64 from them, but it came with the RF adaptor, thats not a big deal, but when I called and asked about it they said to send the whole thing back. The replacement one was even worse...it had a PS1 tv connector. Not too useful. Do they even check those things before they send them out?

I say this more, cause it doesnt even make sense for them. With free shipping, they basically cost themselves probably 40$ sending crap back and forth cause they didnt check it first.

I dont think its an import, not only is it supposed to be oval but the seal is supposed to say:

"OFFICIAL Nintendo Seal of Quality"

Not Original the way this one says.

That's a pirated game, no ifs ands or buts. Unfortunately, most of these places don't really look carefully when buying stuff from people. I guess either email them or try to exchange at an EB B&M store. Pirated games (and pirates) suck!

that is horrible of them to sell you an illegal cart

I would E-mail Nintendo and tell them they are selling illegal copies of games and need to tell EB to work on thier piracy scanning more throughly

Uhmmm, those of you too young to remember wouldn't know that the Nintendo Seal of Quality was a circle during the early NES days. It became an oval about the same time (maybe later) as the Nintendo Fan Club Newsletter thingy became Nintedo Power. In any case, it may be pirated, it may not be. As pirates usually don't have a problem with copying copyrighted video game data, I doubt that they would have a problem copying a trademark to put on their game.

Circle, oval, it doesn't matter. It says "Original" seal of quality. It's supposed to be "Official."

Anyway, I stopped going to EB just recently. Gamestop is much better, IMO.

I really don't want to be judgemental to EB games though. If someone is actually from China, can you confirm if there's actually a LEGAL copy of this game released there in the 90s?

I would bet this is pirated. 1 The logo is round. All of my original Game Boy games have round logos. 2 It says made in China. Are any Gameboy games made in China? All of mine are made in Japan. I thought there was a huge problem with piracy in China and therefore no games were made or sold there.

That's my guess but who knows.. I could be wrong...

Ironically I got a new sealed game when i bought used from ebgames.... but on the subject of this game, IMO I believe it is definetely pirated. I had a few carts that my friend bought when he was in china. What does the top of the cart say? Does it same Gameboy or Game? what does the chip say on the contacts? Anything? I once traded a pirated multicart into a gamestore, I got 15 dollars on it and it only had some crappy games. Right now i have a pirated multicart that has all 2 kof games, 2 fatal fury games, and a sf game. For gameboy. They are all pretty good except for the SF game.

When I was in EB the other day, I saw the clerks look at a stack of games that had just gotten traded in. The game insert (in the outside of the case) had clearly been scanned and printed. And the discs were clearly DVD-Rs. So much so that one clerk called another one over to look at it. Then they just shrugged and got it ready to put out.

I swore right then that I'd never buy a used game from that EB.

I don't understand why you guys think this is pirated. If it is because of the Nintendo logo it should not be. Like it was already mentioned Nintendo's logo back in day did look like that. It just looks like an import to me. It seems unlikely to get a pirated old cartridge. Now a pirated PS/PS2 disk is another story.

I stopped going to Gamestop/Funcoland when B&N bought them and when I bought FF Anthology a couple years ago. I brought the box up to the counter. The takes the game and breaks the seal. Opens it. Then takes out a cd case. When it occured to me what he was doing I was about to cry.

Thats pretty funny though, I buy games all the time on ebay and have never gotten a bootleg, you buy from a trusted retailer and you get a bootleg.

ha ha ha

I have the original Burgertime GB cartridge, I will post it when I go home this weekend so you can compare. (I left my digital camera at home :( )

Oh the irony!

hehe

I've never bought a bootleg anywhere luckily. Well in Chinatown I did buy a couple of DVDs, but I wasn't expecting them to be real...

1. Having worked retail and handled lots of used GB games, I can tell you that pirated GB cartridges are more common than you think.

2. The Nintendo logo is just part of it. Firstly, no GB games are made in China; they are made in Japan. Secondly, it says "original" Nintendo seal of quality, when all the real labels have "official". The old Nintendo logos were round, but they switched to oval after a few years. I believe this switch was before GB came out.

It's a pirated cartridge, no doubt about it.

Well I just looked over some of my old Gameboy games and you are right. I more convinced now that it is a fake.
