Was at CompUSA earlier tonight, and at the service counter I saw giant stacks of various Xbox, Gamecube, PS2, and GBA games and accessories. I asked what the games were for, and I was told that they were in the process of preparing them for a clearance sale. They didn't know when the sale would be, or what the prices would be, but they said to check back soon.

I know that some of CompUSA's clearance prices aren't too great when it comes to games, but you never know. There may be something good in the clearance sale.

I just remember a few of the titles (didn't look very long). There was various 2k3 and 2k4 sports games of all kinds for all systems, both 007 Nightfire and Agent Under Fire, a Mario Party Gamecube game (don't know which), and various accessories and E-Reader card packs.

Who knows, they may come through with something interesting. Remember the $30 SC:pT like, two weeks after the game released?

Could be something good, but I don't know if I want to check. They never mark any of the clearance prices. They have no price stickers on them, but there on the clearance rack.

I remember that. I bought last copy there. The cashier kept scanning and scanning it, he thought it was a price mistake . Was a steal :D

Hmmm, since the ilovebees craziness is ending me to CC in Burbank early tomorrow morning I might as well make a pass at the nearby CompUSA, too.

I remember the 2 stores near me having zero copies as of the first day of the sale and getting none in - until right after the sale ended. ....and I remember thinking I got lucky by getting in on one copy that showed up for in-store pickup only to get there and see they had Splinter Cell 1 waiting for me :( . And I remember them telling me that since they made a mistake on the in-store pickup I could come back when they got it in stock and get it for 29.99, and then having them deny me when I tried to do just that. Very skeptical that CompUSA would have anything good going on for games.
its confirmed i saw it in the compusa in NYC. They are having a clearance sale
What did you see, and is this midtown or uptown? Every time I go I see a lot of old ass games marked CLEARANCE 39.99.

Oh boy, I just recovered from TRU, now this? I guess there are still a couple titles I'd like to pick up that I couldn't find during previous deals. I used to work at CompUSA, before they carried console games (and other consumer electronics) and they are stingy with their deals, but when they go out, they do go all out. I was there for the release of Windows 98 and we had people lining up outside for all the free stuff we were giving away at midnight, when the software went on sale.

I'll be watching this one, here's to hoping!

I just checked it out. The sale sucked. A lot of the sale prices are the regular prices at other stores. The odd thing is, some or the sale prices are actually regular prices at Compusa if you check out the non-clearance rack. Oncly worthwhile if you want some non-greatest hits versions of greatest hits games. The selection is also very small.

I was just about to say that with CompUSA's ripoff prices that the sale would just be regular prices.

I just went there and all I saw on the clearance table was crap. Games like Turok Evolution (can't remember the systems) marked clearance for $20 down from $40. There weren't many games on the table and nothing good from what I saw. I did see an employee scanning stuff in the games department, maybe they will be adding more stuff. But if the current selection is any indicatiion the deals probably won't be that great. Definitely not going to be a CC/TRU/BB type of deal. There is a chance that maybe something good will be clearanced, but I didn't feel like asking someone to scan everything.

I stopped by the CompUSA at lunch and the only things they had marked for clearance was 5 or 6 PS2 games on the bottom shelf. They were mostly crappy stuff that you can get at TRU for $10 but they were selling them for $24.99 or $29.99. However, what caught my eye was they had 2 copies of Sega Tennis 2K2 for PS2. They were marked Regular Price - $59.99, Clearance Price - $44.99.

Yeah, I checked the CompUSA at 37th/5th in Manhattan. Most games (not just the ones in the bin) had yellow "Clearance" stickers.. which brought games down to their regular prices everywhere else. Bunch of Dave Mirras for $20 and the like. And not even a good selection.

"sale then"
i as a THINKING heterosexual didn't like that, but i will deal with it another time at my leisure :D
anyway, they have kengo, but i forgot what price it was a few weeks ago... but i remember the dreamcast sale was a straight blowout across the board! whoo dat was a good deal

i hate to bump this thread because the sale is mighty sad, but i wanted to confirm its sadness- checked out the compusa at 56th/8th and they have clearance labels on some mediocre games at mediocre $20-30 pricepoints. they also had some extra mediocre xbox controller bundled with games (3rd party controller with c-game) for $20
did see a four port router for $10 after mail in rebate

and this sale would be sad even without the goodness of other store's sales putting it in its place
