Poster for sale @ $9.99 - Game Informer 30 Chracters who defined a decade.

I'm okay with the artwork but it doesn't seem very big. At 9.5" x 48", it's barely larger than 4 sheets of letter size paper placed end to end longways (8.5" x 44").

Hmm...I could buy a game for that price. I might be interested if the artwork was better quality/different style...ah forget it...better quality.

How is Bonnie MCFarlane on there. And THE BOSS is on there but Naked, Solid, or Old Snake is NOT???
What about Marcus Fenix from Gears. Anything from Oblivion. Sheesh, it is still amazing walking out of that dungeon in the beginning and seeing the awesome scenery. Mario, DK, Link, WTF???
No Sackboy. NO Max Payne. Templar from Killzone 2. Fable series.

I could go on and on. But THIS LIST SUCKS
That buys me $12 of gas! Or $10 of gas, a cup of coffee and a wine black n mild at QT!
if you can successfully get $12 out of an atm machine, you must enlighten the world :p

I agree steve-O, how snake is slighted on the list but bonnie mcfarlane with her 7 missions is somehow on the list. Terrible list

There's this magical card that teleports the money out of the machine in into the cash register. He never said he got it "out of an atm", he merely listed the things he could buy with it.

I agree. It kinda sucks. BUT...

Snake was a character created before the 2000s.

Yeah, I was just trollin' ;)

I love my Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure.

when this issue (w/ the gatefold cover) first arrived i didn't think much of it, and my opinion hasn't changed. i actually think it is a cool idea that they start releasing posters for select covers. i did love their bioshock infinite covers and would probably buy a few posters of those.
If not DMC what was? DMC pretty much defined 3d action games.

While I'm sure there were some in the PS1 era, Onimusha came out about 6 months before Devil May Cry.

PNC Bank lets you take $$$ out of the ATM in amounts of $1, $10, and $20.

So if I wanted $16 out of the atm I'd get a $10 bill and six $1 bills.

I'm surprised by the lack of Warcraft characters, specifically Arthas/Lich King. From following his story in WC3 to devoting an entire expansion in WoW to him, people got to know him. With such a huge playerbase there has got to be an influence in there somewhere. Oh well, I'll live. Also I wouldn't mind this on my wall but for ten bucks I'll pass.

I love Onimusha but it is a much different beast from DMC. You can't jump or get crazy combos in Onimusha. All that stylish combo chain stuff came from DMC, which was supposed to be the next gen Resident Evil at the time. Anyway, I remember when the God of War demo first came out and people were saying how they just took DMC and added QTEs to it. I mean all these games are great but Dante is a questionable omission when it came out in 2001 and God of War came out in 2005. I think Dante should have been in there just for the reason that almost every action game has some sort of "Devil Trigger" after DMC.

The biggest problem with this list of 30 from the past 10 years is that they didn't go back far enough, even then they missed the mark with omitting Marcus Fenix. Gears came out in 2006, so many games from the latter half of the decade will remind you of Gears.

Maybe, but that's kinda like disregarding Wolfenstein as the first notable FPS in favor of Doom. I make no debate on what characters should and should not be in this poster, but I'm just sayin' that if I hadn't played and loved Onimusha, I probably would have never played and loved Devil May Cry.

Well, the original was 80x16.5, but also 30 times more expensive.

Dear everyone, this poster doesn't say anywhere on it "The 30 Characters That Defined the '00s." Yes, it was made to coincide with Game Informer's list on that topic, but no one who sees this hanging on a wall is going to know that. Even in the issue that this image was the cover to, you didn't know why this was the cover until you opened the magazine. When I got my copy I had a great time looking at this image and trying to identify who each character was. It reminds me of those reader pictures they'd print at the beginning of Game Pro (I think) with like Sub-Zero ripping off Yoshi's head and stuff like that, which was always my favorite part of that magazine as a kid. I get if you don't like the artwork or the price, but I don't think how influential a character or their game is is a valid argument against this product. I even feel like it's more fun if the roster is a mix of obvious and obscure characters.
Is it just me, or did they completely leave out Mario, Sackboy and link?
That's a feature.

looking at the quality of the artwork. i'm guessing the artist can only draw certain characters and so they based off of what he/she could draw. my guess. i still think the arwork is REALLY BAD.
He's not even on the poster...
Yeah, a few other people above me were complaining that he wasn't on it, I was giving an explanation why. ;)

There's supposed to be a Bioshock Infinite poster going up on the Power Up Rewards site, you can see a picture of it on the site, but it's not available yet. It's kind of irritating actually, it's the only thing I want to get on there, but they've put several other items up since they put the picture on the website, but still no Bioshock poster.

Even though the original post AND the title of it specifies that it's about characters (NOT games themselves) and that it's just for this last decade, this thread is full of people who somehow misunderstood and are arguing on behalf of characters that have been around since the 80's and 90's or on behalf of games, rather than specific characters. Unbelievable.

Is it that hard to read something and comprehend it? Seriously? I can understand disagreeing with the list or thinking the art sucks, but if you're going to argue something, at least argue according to the correct freaking criteria.
7 pages of people bitching about gamestop's list.
Yeah, and mostly by people who can't understand the simple criteria of the list itself, to boot.
Forget the character line-up. That is just an awful painting. Good god, did they just pick the first deviantart user they could find?
I love the artwork and overall like the choices of characters. It is all a matter of opinion anyways. Way too many people complaining about characters not being on there that are well before the past decade.
