Practical video surveillance

Does anyone have any experience with surveillance systems?

I'm looking for something that is relatively small, has video quality good enough to capture faces, is wireless, and produces a stream that doesn't take a ridiculous amount of HD space.

I have a suspicion that some little queer is taking packages from my doorstep, and it'd be great to find out who, so I can beat his face in.

If you have certain Canon cameras, there are is a camera hack (CHDK) that lets you run a motion detection script. Hi-Res Digital Image isn't actually video but you probably get a better picture.

Ya, I have no clue. I'd like to know how to do this cause I plan on doing the 360 thing someone did on one of the Retail Story Threads (Put empty 360 box in front of store, watch loser run with it), and I wanna put it up on Youtube!
