As if we didn't need anymore motivation to pre-order Fable 2, now Microsoft and Lionhead Studios have teamed up to give us the chance to get our hands on a free XBLA title if we pre-order the title at participating stores.

The free XBLA will be called "Fable 2 Pub Games" and will allow gamers to gamble their in-game gold in a series of old skool pub games with a twist. The XBLA title will feature three main games modes and they will be:

  • “Keystone,” which is a combination of Craps and Roulette
  • “Spinnerbox,” which is an updated take on slot machines
  • “Fortune’s Tower,” which is a press your luck style of game.
  • The download will also include a Shell, which is a tutorial of all three games.

No word on the availability of such an offer and who the "participating" stores will be, but the good news is, if you miss out, you can purchase a copy when it hits the XBLA in August for 800MSP. A little rich maybe from first impressions, but hey, it's Fable and you can gamble your in-game gold!

In other Fable 2 news, Microsoft Games Studios and Lionhead Studios have just announced details of a limited collector’s edition of “Fable II” available for pre-order at retailers worldwide, for a suggested price of $79.99 USD.

The limited collector’s edition includes:

  • a bonus disc with a new behind-the-scenes making of video,
  • collectible Hobbe figure,
  • a LIVE trial card and additional in-game content (an Xbox LIVE account is required to access the limited collector’s edition bonus in-game content).

The “Fable II” standard addition is also available for pre-order at a suggested retail price of $59.99. “Keystone,” “Spinnerbox” and “Fortune’s Tower” will also be embedded as part of the full retail copy of “Fable II” (limited collector’s and standard editions).

Apparently GS is doing this (though it hasn't been "officially" confirmed), but it seems unclear whether it's online or in-store only.

I'll update this post when more information comes out (i.e. which stores are involved).

I hope you guys get the codes soon before they start patching the "glitch". Its needless to say I'll deny the update, but they will start making it part of the game download soon enough. I'm sitting at over 500k right now. :lol: The best part is that my wife plays it while I'm at work.

got the GC card a few hours after i ordered when it was available. but i'm still waiting for my Pub code

How fun is the game going to be when it's too easy because you can just have all the best stuff instantly? But maybe you like it like that.

We won't have the best stuff instantly. ( I'm not doing it for the gold just the items ) :D

While you guys are swinging your Wooden Swords at enemies, we will be swinging our Championship Sword while wearing our High Rollers Jacket like what :D
 
They say that it will cost 100 million or more to buy everything in the game. If I start out with a few million I'll be far from buying it all, but I'll have enough to get started with a house and some decent weapons and clothes. The beginning of these type of games is the most tedious part when you do stupid tasks for 10 gold coins. I'll be able to pass that crap up.

Their reasoning for not sending them out is still stupid. "They're not active yet."
 
Yeah, I'm also waiting for my code from Amazon. I'm thinking of emailing them and requesting a couple bucks off my order or something if they don't send it out.
 
For those who ordered from CC:

I called their customer service line yesterday (Sunday) and spoke to someone with poor english who had it in her head that the Pub game code would not be sent until the actual game (Fable 2) was released on Oct. 21st. I explained to her what she was telling me was in complete contradiction to what was stated on the site, but she didn't budge.

I then called back today (Monday) and was told there had been a delay on the sending of the codes and that I should expect mine within 7 to 10 business days. The person on the phone this time was understandable and was very apologetic. (Maybe she'd been handling more than a few of these calls?)

Note: I pre-ordered the game on Sunday 8/17/08.

Wow, that's when you ask for a supervisor.

Anyway, for time frame reference, I ordered on 8/9 and received my code on 8/15. However, they may have exhausted their supplies.
 
So did anybody (who haven't had them already) get their codes from Amazon yet? If I don't have it in the next 30 minutes, I'll email them. Argh.

I'm still waiting on mine. I figure I'll give them a bit more time, then send them a message complaining.
 
this is ridiculous. CC CSR emailed me back and said the code was sent to my email that i ordered from their site with on 8/15. well duh!. that doesn't help me at all. i just emailed them back to resend the code to me.

i sent two emails to amazon (one on the 15th and another today). the first time i got the crappy auto message and so far, have yet to receive another reply to my second email.

You don't need to exploit the glitch to win the tournaments and get the items. Plus it only works on fortune's tower.

My thoughts exactly regarding the supervisor. I did ask, yet it was a Sunday and "supervisors don't work on Sundays" I was told. Hence the call on Monday, which, got me the information I was looking for.

Gotta love outsourced Customer Service. :)

So nobody waiting on Amazon's said 8/18 delivery got theirs? This is extremely irritating. I don't even want to play that badly, it's just the fact that this is the second date they've missed so far.
 
I didnt get mine either. Amazon will just keep getting assaulted by e-mails from me until i get either my code or some form of giftcard.

Yeah, I'm planning to just keep messaging them, considering this is actually the second time they've missed a deadline that they told me I would have my code by. I asked them to just try and drop $10 or so off my order and that I would just buy the games myself. Not quite an ideal solution, but it'll work for me.
 
Yea, code finally came in from Amazon about 10 minutes ago. Also I ended up cancelling my Too Human pre-order from Amazon due to this slow turnaround. I just picked up a pre-order pack from BB and got the code for the armor there. If I pick up the game at this week it will probably be from TrU or one of the other deals or I might just wait. Should be a quick price drop on that one.

If should be emailed around the time you get your confirmation email- which is like 30-60 minutes after ordering.
 
Wow, this game is not good AT ALL. The code wasn't even worth waiting for. I actually canceled my preorder from Amazon, even though I was planning on buying it. It's 100% luck and I was lucky to make a slim profit. Deleted from my HDD too. No interest in Fable II anymore. I realized I don't even enjoy RPG's, ha. Forget this..

Circuit City sent me one code even though I preordered two copies. Just letting everyone know. Also, right now my local Best Buy has preorder cases with codes inside. You could just pay $5 now and get it back later I suppose.
 
Man, just got my code from Amazon but unfortunately my 360 is currently in the hands of USPS :( Not due to RROD thankfully, but simply because I'm flying to my parents on Thursday and mailed it there instead of dealing with the hassle of bringing it on the plane.

I assume someone used it already. I got it from amazon this morning but I already got one from someone else the day before.
