Pre-Order Fable 2 to Get XBLA Title 'Fable 2 Pub Games' Free
Written Monday, July 07, 2008 by Dan Webb

As if we didn't need anymore motivation to pre-order Fable 2, now Microsoft and Lionhead Studios have teamed up to give us the chance to get our hands on a free XBLA title if we pre-order the title at participating stores.

The free XBLA will be called "Fable 2 Pub Games" and will allow gamers to gamble their in-game gold in a series of old skool pub games with a twist. The XBLA title will feature three main games modes and they will be:

 • “Keystone,” which is a combination of Craps and Roulette
 • “Spinnerbox,” which is an updated take on slot machines
 • “Fortune’s Tower,” which is a press your luck style of game.
 • The download will also include a Shell, which is a tutorial of all three games.

No word on the availability of such an offer and who the "participating" stores will be, but the good news is, if you miss out, you can purchase a copy when it hits the XBLA in August for 800MSP. A little rich maybe from first impressions, but hey, it's Fable and you can gamble your in-game gold!

In other Fable 2 news, Microsoft Games Studios and Lionhead Studios have just announced details of a limited collector’s edition of “Fable II” available for pre-order at retailers worldwide, for a suggested price of $79.99 USD.

The limited collector’s edition includes:

 • a bonus disc with a new behind-the-scenes making of video,
 • collectible Hobbe figure,
 • a LIVE trial card and additional in-game content (an Xbox LIVE account is required to access the limited collector’s edition bonus in-game content).

The “Fable II” standard addition is also available for pre-order at a suggested retail price of $59.99. “Keystone,” “Spinnerbox” and “Fortune’s Tower” will also be embedded as part of the full retail copy of “Fable II” (limited collector’s and standard editions).

There you have it, all the latest Fable 2 details. What more can you ask for... Except maybe a concrete release date? Let's hope E3 gives us that.
Apparently GS is doing this (though it hasn't been "officially" confirmed), but it seems unclear whether it's online or in-store only.

I'll update this post when more information comes out (i.e. which stores are involved).
Got my code too. Now I feel bad about sending the email last night..
Hah, I got my code today too, but sent an email last night before I went to bed. The response I just got says that now they expect to have these all distributed by August 25th!?!?!? Glad I got mine today, but if someone actually has to wait until 2 weeks after a games released to get this code that is just sad. How hard is it to get more codes from MS?

I got my gamestop code on the 10th, and I got my circuit city one on the 15th. I ordered from gamestop then canceled because CC was cheaper. But they still sent one to me, gave extra code to a friend.

Just got my code from CC. Looks like both Amazon and CC got them in batches and started sending them out today. I wonder if they already exhausted their supply if people still haven't received theirs.. Hmm....

DAMN! CC finally emailed me the code after i complained 3 times to them. it's not the regular email with the code but an email from the CSR themselves. i guess if i'm lucky, i might get a second one later. i'll see if the code works when i get home.
Wow, this game is not good AT ALL. The code wasn't even worth waiting for. I actually canceled my preorder from Amazon, even though I was planning on buying it. It's 100% luck and I was lucky to make a slim profit. Deleted from my HDD too. No interest in Fable II anymore. I realized I don't even enjoy RPG's, ha. Forget this..
It's called GAMBLING for a reason, otherwise it would be called A JOB :)

Anyway, I thought the game was actually pretty cool. The slots game is really the only one that involves absolutely no strategy whatsoever. With the other two, you can use a little strategy and do okay. The real money, however, is with tournaments because the risk vs. reward is definitely in the player's favor. If people would take the time to actually try some of this stuff instead of flipping the game on and expecting gold to rain from the sky, they might find that you can actually do REALLY well and rack up a good amount of money.

I went from being about 2000 gold in debt (using the typical dummy strategy and thinking, "where's my free money?") to being nearly 10,000 gold in the positive after simply changing my strategy a bit and concentrating on games that gave the best payouts with a minimal amount of risk. It's not very hard once you learn the games.

You must not have heard about the glitch in Fortune's Tower. Most people are up by half a million with that beauty of a glitch. I've been lazy so I'm content with my "measly" 200,000 (for now) in about one hours worth of work. :D

If there was no "glitch" I would have deleted the game a long time ago. I would pay the xbox live retail price for this game knowing I can have millions of in game dollars when it comes out.

I dont know if someone posted this or not yet, but for all you people who were wondering, it appears that Amazon has added Release-Date Delivery for Fable 2:)

I believe we heard horror stories about that option...

Does Amazon charge ANYTHING to my credit card when I pre-order? What I mean is can I preorder this now, get the code and not pay a dime until October?
I believe we heard horror stories about that option...
I have Prime and received Madden 09 CE on its release day with Amazon's Release-Date delivery for no additional charge. So, I'm happy to hear they've added Release-Date delivery to Fable II.

EDIT: Fable II is currently not showing as a Release-Date delivery title. I'm not sure where musha666 saw it.

Horror stories such as? The worst thing I can imagine is you dont get it on delivery day, and since its free anyways thats not so horrible.

And Fable 2 is currently showing as a Release Date delivery title. I see this right above the Pub Game promo. Some reason though when I check while signed in to my account it is not there. Go to Amazon not signed in and search for Fable 2 and you will see it when you check the description out.

Edit: Here I took a capture of it.

You meant to quote Penguin1084, not me. :)

Well no I meant to quote you quoting him because I addressed you both:p

Ok, now you can actually select Release Date Delivery for Fable II. Also if you already preordered you can just go into your open orders and change the shipping there:D

Glad they finally fixed that for logged-in members. Thanks for the heads-up!

hah. Well, I remember someone complaining about the Soul Calibur 4 release date delivery thing.
hah. Well, I remember someone complaining about the Soul Calibur 4 release date delivery thing.
What was the complaint? Did they not get it the day it was released or was there some other problem?
I've only tried Wizards Tower so far, and I like it. It's kind of like Black Jack with a twist, in the fact that you have to know when to hold or hit. It's pretty addictive.
Yeah, everytime when the gate card is gone, I stop, but sometimes I gamble, hope a Hero card show up in the next row.

There should be 4 Hero cards in every play, but sometimes you don't get all 4!

Anyway. Looks like EVERY damn store is offering the Free pub games.

Any stores give out Free T-shirt, etc???

Nope I just think they give out these crappy "games". What a scam that has turned out to be. Amazon keeps sending me new codes too lol. I guess they cant give em away now.

I kinda like the game.

Obviously, you lots don't like much Casino type of games.

I LOVE me some Casino-type of games! :D

I like casino type games that take some sort of skill. I guess the roulette/craps game they have on there is ok. The others is just button mashing. Black jack and poker have skill involved where as these games are just are you lucky. And the answer is usually no.
Amazon sent me the free Pub Games code a couple of days ago after I had already used some gamer points. Sucks!
Ouch. I've held off on using the few points I have left on it in the off chance I get the money to pre-order. I get the feeling though I will end up using the points for this or Banjo-Kazooie (provided it's under 1000 points).

Gone!

I got a duplicate from Amazon - XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Please post once you use it.

i got mine duplicate too....

i cancel my ordinary edition and preorder the LE for $66 then amazon sent it again

and i gave it to my friend, i think its better if you ask for somebody's gamertag then use pm

Damn, I missed it. If anyone has an extra code to give away I will gladly take it. You can PM me here or find me under the GT Fatitude.

Local GS is a no go for me. Looks like wasting MS funbucks on it is the way to go...or just skipping it entirely. Hopefully the weapons you get will be available to people to don't have pub games.
