What's up CAGers just found this deal going on right now. Pre-order the OnLive Microconsole before it comes out on Dec 2 and you get a free game PlayPass. The Microconsole package includes a OnLive controller, Power adapter, HDMI cable, Ethernet cable, USB cable and 2 AA batteries, and the microconsole itself.

[Edit]
I forgot to remind you guys that the previous $15 a month free is gone for the service and also games at the most are $50 compared to $60 on other consoles.
Yeah, don't crack on OnLive until you've at least played a demo or two on your own PC. Just because we have crazy internet doesn't mean it won't work on slower internet.
it will run on slower connections but the mouse response is sluggish and not that enjoyable, defiantly not good enough to play any type of competitive play, you have to have atleast a 5+mbps constant connection to play it without hiccups which is a huge problem because most people have 2-6mbps and most who get 6-12 are lucky to get half that.

alot of people don't realize that these broadband companies that offer 10,20,30,50 mbps are only obligated to give you a small portion of that speed which i find fucking ridiculous, it's even in the agreement, most give boost for the first X amount of time and some companies are good about giving you close to your speeds and alot throttle and don't

You know, I would but I already have GameTap and not enough time to play the PC and console backlog I already have, so I might have to draw the line on even trying this. If the reviews blow me away I might give it another shot.

an excellent point.....i'm a big first-sale doctrine guy and for me digital doesn't address this issue....

Imagine if Microsoft bought them out, improved the infrastructure and made it so you could play all PC games on the Xbox 720. They could call the whole thing Xbox OnLive Gold :)

Just received an e-mail from OnLive (company that streams games to any computer) and it appears they are releasing a set-top box for HDTVs that comes with a wireless controller for 99.00. It is able to stream at 1080p on a 3Mb connection, supposedly. Also, those who pre-order before December 2nd receive a free game of their choice. Choices include Just Cause 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Mafia 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, and lots of other games I am less interested in.

The console is supposed to sport 10-second start-up times, and if OnLive fleshes out their game library they may just give traditional consoles a run for their money. It supports bluetooth headsets, keyboard/mouse, or their proprietary controller, which looks like a cross between the 360 controller and a Dualshock.

See it here: http://www.onlive.com/game-system?u...=OGS+Launch&utm_source=iPost&utm_medium=email

Pretty good deal if you ask me. There are also rumors that OnLive will be rolling out an all-inclusive subscription plan, where you can play the full versions of all the games in their catalog for a monthly fee instead of buying them individually.

Joystiq posted a (positive) preliminary review of the console here:

im going to pass on this. I have both a ps3 and a 360 and if i had a care for digital copies i would just download them from there.

I 'm not cracking on on live by no means. They took the phantom idea and actually went through with it. I have to give them kudos for that.

infact ill just take a wait and see approach to all of this. either way i think i may be spending extra bones for something i dont think i need.

I don't understand why anyone with an Xbox 360, Playstation 3, or half-OK PC would even consider OnLive for a moment. I guess if OnLive gets some PC exclusive titles it may be worth it to the non gaming-PC crowd. I doubt titles such as Diablo 3 or Valve games will ever appear on the service, and it'll never get console exclusives either (or even games that only appear on 360 and PS3).

You know what would be really cool? MMOs that ran off it. It would make playing MMOs with a friend irl WAY easier. You could just bring the box over to their place and play on the TV while they played on their computer. Wouldn't be great for super competitive PvP (cause of the lag), but for casual MMOing it would be fantastic.
