SAN FRANCISCO, CA - September 2, 2008 - Today, Ubisoft announced that gamers who pre-order the new Prince of Persia title in North America will receive a FREE upgraded Limited Edition version of the game.

The FREE Limited Edition Upgrade is only available by pre-ordering and will include in addition to the regular SKU:

. Collectable Limited Edition packaging
. An exclusive look at the making of Prince of Persia
. A Prima® digital mini-strategy guide full of developer's secrets to help players master the year's best action-adventure game
. A digital art book that chronicles the game's journey from concept to winner of Best Artistic Design at E3 2008 . The original soundtrack scored by master composer Inon Zur
. And much more.

Additionally, Ubisoft announced a partnership with Penny Arcade for the creation of a comic book based on the new Prince of Persia title. Penny Arcade, known for creating short video game-based comics, has accepted this sizable project as a response to their readers' overwhelming excitement about Prince of Persia's fresh new artistic style.

The expanded 32-page comic book will span roughly four times longer than the usual Penny Arcade comic and will allow the Prince's story to be creatively told in a robust, illustrative format. The comic book will also give readers a unique knowledge of the new Prince of Persia game as well as an enhanced understanding as to the relationship between Elika and the Prince.

Prince of Persia will be available Holiday 2008 for the Xbox 360(TM) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and PC. Also available this holiday exclusively for the Nintendo DS(TM) system, Prince of Persia: The Fallen King will complement the version coming out on consoles and PC.

Oh snap, here we go again with another LE. :whistle2:s

The box shots for the LE packaging would be worthwhile to see. Let's get right on that, Ubisoft.

A free upgrade to LE just by pre-ordering? That... that's not a bad idea :whistle2:k Kicks the crap out of pre-order bonuses like a cheap artbook.

The photos are up on other sites and it's not a steelbook. Just an insert that says Limited Edition over a brown canvas looking background.

Looked more placeholder than anything else but if that's the case, then lame...

i read about this in joystiq and i have the same question. is this guaranteed from amazon? i haven't read if only specific retailers were chosen for this promotion.

what a great deal. so, if we order anywhwere, we get LE? doesn't have to be through a certain link?

Yeah, cause a cheap digital art book is a much better idea.

$60 for an LE is hardly anything to complain about...

Does this apply if we pre-order from amazon? I didnt see this mentioned on the amazon website.

POP website does have these details in there, but their pre-order option is not yet enabled !

Free upgrade to LE and:
. Collectable Limited Edition packaging
. An exclusive look at the making of Prince of Persia
. A Prima® digital mini-strategy guide full of developer's secrets to help players master the year's best action-adventure game

Isn't as good as some slapped together physical artbook or better? I'd hate to see your idea of a pre-order bonus.

I'm kinda disappointed the soundtrack is being done by Inon Zur (Warrior Within) over Stuart Chatwood (Sands, Two Thrones). Either way, I'm a BIG PoP fan so I was going to get this anyway. But now I'll just preorder it and get it a wee bit sooner.... that is of course that this LE preorder also applies to the PS3 version.

Yeah, which is exactly why I refuse to get it anywhere near release. I was burned when I got Two Thrones at release and I was burned when I got Assassins Creed at release.

I'll just wait a month or so and save some money.

Digital content whether it be a 'mini-guide' or artbook is a worthless feature since those can be had online anyway. Making of video? Hello youtube. Different artwork? I'm sure I'll be able to find it on the Cover Project if it is that cool looking. That leaves the soundtrack and 'much more.' If it's a full soundtrack than I'd say it's worth it.

I like the idea in theory of getting a LE for pre-ordering, but the extras they are bringing with this one are D.O.A. to me.

I got an email from Ubisoft about this today, and it has a link to preorder it which takes me directly to the search results for Prince of Persia on GameStop.com. So it looks like GameStop at least will be offering the upgrade, even if it doesn't mention anything about it yet.

I'm not sure why, but that is VERY true. There's almost always good deals on Ubisoft games the week of release too.

This seems to be Ubisoft's new strategy for limited editions. The new issue of PC Gamer has an ad for Far Cry 2 sponsored by Gamestop and it says free limited edition upgrade for pre-orders.

All these CE and LE shits are designed to make us buy now at full price than wait for price drops. Sadly, some of these shits actually work.

I was planning on buying this game anyways since I love the PoP series so I don't mind pre-ordering but I was wondering if there's an answer to the question about getting it at Amazon. I don't want to have to go through EB/GS to get in on this.
